Happy Monday, chatters! Welcome to the unofficial second half ... let's get to the questions...

12 Team H2H NL/AL league. Is Bryan Reynolds droppable at this point for a player like Isaac Collins, or should I wait to see if he is traded to a better team? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:04
Wow, hadn't quite realized how empty of a season it's been for Reynolds. In a 12-teamer, yeah, I think it can be time to move on. If BR ends up with a better team, should not be costly to re-acquire if need be.

Hi Brent,

16 team H2H points league. $430 cap, 40 player roster - 23 active & 17 bench. Deep league. We start 5 SPs.

Teoscar was my main RF. Fortunate to grab Springer who has been a great replacement. Question is: Who to start at DH? Teoscar or Yainer Diaz. Nether has been hitting up a storm. OR Adrian Del Castillo (who has)?

Thanks again for answering my question.
Brent Hershey
12:05
My bet is on Teoscar. LA scuffling, but talent there to flip it pretty quickly; longer track record than Diaz. Would probably wait a week or so until seriously considering Del Castillo.

Brent thank you for doing this chat. BBHQ Sub. 12 tm keeper H2H 5X6 w/Hlds. For keeper purposes could you rank these 3B? THANK YOU. Devers, Caminero, Riley, Bregman, Chapman, Westburg. Once again THANK YOU
Brent Hershey
12:08
Thank YOU for the sub! In a keeper lg, I'd go Caminero, Devers (ONLY if he remains 3B eligible, which may not happen), Riley, Bregman, Westburg, Chapman. Caminero a clear #1; Bregman v Westburg close via keeper value.

crystal ball time Brent,in order  after trade deadline which rp is most likely to be a closer..uceta, detmers, erceg, jax. thank you
Brent Hershey
12:10
Jax, Erceg, Detmers, Uceta. Have my doubts about each, though -- more situational than skills based. Good luck!

Best bet for ROS in QS league: Cecconi, Cantillo or Soroka?
Brent Hershey
12:11
Cecconi; that last start really showed that CLE will stick with him. Also like the mid-season gains he's made. Soroka #2
Porcho Villa

B. Lowe's surprisingly quick return from an oblique injury now risks being derailed by plantar fasciitis, doubling his count of long-lingering injury concerns. He has been great year to date but thinking a 2B contingency plan is needed. Who would you prioritize: Hoerner, Bogaerts, Stott, C. Keith, Durbin, Polanco? (5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:12
This is good thinking. :-) I'd rank Hoerner, Keith, Xander, Durbin, Polanco, Stott. First four are pretty good options.

NL only.  Let's assume MAmaya is healthy and able to play July 25 (unless you think he that is way too soon).  MAmaya or FAlvarez ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:18
Just looked quickly now, and I don't see that Amaya is on a rehab yet—which tells me that he won't be back by Friday.

If he was, it really depends on whether team needs a more balanced, overall contributor (Amaya) or is power-starved (Alvarez). If you're making the move now, think you have to go Alvarez.

Good morning Brent! Thank you (and Ray) for these chats, they are extremely helpful. According to a BHQ article of last week : Strech score at the all-star game Roupp(-10), Mize(-27), Peterson(-39), Soroka(-48), Rasmussen(-53) : any thoughts on at what number of additional innings (over their max from 2022-23-24) they might be shut down or finish the year? Is an assumption of +30% their highest yearly inning from 2022-23-24 good ballpark?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Yeah, each is different, but +20-30% is a good baseline, yes. Also team context, player injury history, etc also. I would be most worried about Rasmussen and Soroka from that list, yes.

15 team MIXED.  Panicky replacing IParedes.  Eyeballing:  SWhitcomb, MVierling, JFermin.  Preferences?  Rank them please?
Brent Hershey
12:21
I'd probably lean Vierling first, but there's also a world where the 'Stros just plug Whitcomb in most games given their (lack) of other options at 3B. Could be a sneaky play ... 19 HR, 900+ OPS in AAA with a not-crazy K rate. Fermin a distant 3d of this trio.

12:23
hi Brent, who should play this week : Soroka (dimished velocity) vs cin or Gallen vs hou & pit? Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:23
Our numbers say hang with Soroka, though they like half of the Gallen 2-start (PIT, of course). If you really need the volume, I could see Gallen ... though his inconsistency has been frustrating in 2025 for sure.

12:24
Hi Brent! NL 10 team 5x5. Do I want to FAAB A Del Castillo  and waive Yaz?
Brent Hershey
12:24
Can see that ... as long as you trust the ADC playing time. Not sure I have enough of a sample to go all in on that just yet. Yaz not a world-beater, but you know he's in there against most RHP at least.

AL only:  Keep RFitts or KHarrison or CSchlittler?  Rank?
Brent Hershey
12:27
Really interested to see what BOS does with Harrison, but have no idea when that callup might occur. Making the decision today (assuming primarily rest of season value) I'd go Fitts / Schlitt / Harrison. Would probably flip the last two if there are keeper considerations; just have no idea whether Schlittler survives the trade deadline

12:28
hi Brent, who should play for me this week: Narvaez, Higashioka, F Alvarez? I lean for the last 2. Thank you.
Brent Hershey
12:28
I'd take Narvaez over Higgy, I think, along with Alvarez.
Ace
12:29
Is it time to drop Liberatore?
Brent Hershey
12:29
Too broad of a question (need more context on league size, other options, etc), but a worthy one to consider in some cases.

Projections for Del Castillo underwhelming. Can we expect more/better?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Of course, we saw some of it last year. Big issue right now is PT and if/how he fits into that ARI lineup. We'll know a ton more in ~10 days

12:32
Good morning Brent! In a 12 team points h2h league and have util spot - do you like Laureano or N Marte this week?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Laureano, slightly; 7G week helps. He's still getting overlooked in some circles. But both very good options.
Broken
12:37
Trevor Rogers, Burns, Sheehan. Warren H.Brown, Ranger Suarez, all active on my 15t 4x4. Have McClanahan coming soon I hope. Keeper league. All these guys priced at $5 each next year. In 5th place and 2nd is possible. Please rank balancing this year with peak at 2026. I know… pick a lane.
Brent Hershey
12:37
McClanahan's injury history scares me; feel like I'm the low man here. MAYBE you keep him instead of Ranger, who a) as a control/command guy, has smaller margin of error; b) won't be with Philly next year and so wins potential might be diminished. But b/c of the injury, I don't really think Shane is a great keeper, either—and this year, Ranger remains a super value when he's on. If you can trade McClan, I'd look into that.
Broken Bat
12:40
Warren of Yanks has some great stuff. However, is he a possible future closer candidate? High K, couple of great pitches but seemingly is around 90 pitches in 5th inning.
Brent Hershey
12:40
I guess it's possible, but at his best he's shown he has the arsenal to start. Don't see it in the near future, at least.
Not Chandler Simpson
12:45
Luis Rengifo has not been running at all yet I have seen no announcement of an injury. Do you have any insight?
Brent Hershey
12:45
Pure speculation, but hamstring injury in spring training slowed him down and it resurfaced in April; some days off in May/June. Wondering if that's something we find out has been bothering him all season. But also ... LAA has not been running as much overall as they did last season.
