Hey Monday chatters! Tons going down on the field and in this week's queue. Let's get started; still room to squeeze in some questions during if you can. Going to do my best to fly through as many of these as I can ...

What do you expect for Cowser ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:04
TBD, largely b/c we don't know what the Orioles' roster will look like on Wednesday. If he stays—which I'd probably think is likely—then he'll be fine. Should be slotted in CF many days in one of the best lineups in baseball. Still strikes out a lot, but youth and experience a good thing.

Hi Brent,
Thanks for answering this question.24 team league (no reserves but unlimited IL and minors). %x% scoring with 3 major changes:
1. OBP instead of BA
2. W+QS instead of W
3. Hld+Sv instead of S.

My team has crashed badly due to injuries and poor play. After some discussion I've been offered the following trades:

1. My K. Marte & J. Adams for Albies, Norby(M) and K. Hurt(M)

and

2. My Langford for Jaisson Dominguez(M) and Ty Floyd(M)

I'm inclined to accept both.

Your opinion?
Brent Hershey
12:06
Seems like this would be some sort of keeper/dynasty, so going to answer in that light:

I'd take the first, but decline the second. Think you'll regret moving Langford.

AL-Who will be the Toronto closer for rest of 2024 if Chad Green is traded?
Brent Hershey
12:08
Probably Swanson or Pop would be my guess; no obvious standout. You want a longshot? Yariel Rodriguez.

Hi Brent,
Thanks for answering this question. 16 team H@H points league.

We can only start 5 SPs. My top 3 are: Bibee, Valdez and Williams.

I have to choose 2 from: Ed. Cabrera (2 starts), Woo, Civale and Strahm (who is SP eligible and a safe play).I'm leaning to Cabrera and Civale. Woo seems to be in injury-mode at the moment. As noted, Strahm is a "safe" choice - limited gain but little pain with modest results.

Thoughts? And thanks again.
Brent Hershey
12:09
I just don't trust CIvale and have a hard time with Cabrera as well. I think you should pencil in Strahm for sure given that loophole, then it's down to Woo and Cabrera. Love Woo, but it's very possible he's a zero this week b/c of the injury. So back to Cabrera I guess.

Good morning Brent-
In NL, I am in a $260 12 team Dynasty keeper league and need to drop one Corner guy between the following: Christian Walker $29 1st year, Alex Bohm $22 1st year, Elly De La Cruz $2 in second year, Matt Olson $48 last year and just got Isaac Paredes $10 2nd year for losing Chris Morel-My thoughts are to keep Paredes given his salary and drop Olson if I can't trade him as I only have until tomorrow to make the decision-is that the right move? Thanks in advance-Greg
Brent Hershey
12:09
Yes, that would be my plan also.

Standard 5x5. Rank these C ROS: Realmuto, E. Diaz, Langaliers, Naylor, Rice, Heim, and Bailey.
Brent Hershey
12:10
JTR, Bailey, Langeliers, then take your pick; I'd prob go Heim, Rice, Diaz, Naylor

Brent, love the article photo! Let that expire us to talk a little (no pun intended) Xavier Edwards. Arraez with speed?
Brent Hershey
12:12
Not the hit tool/BA of Arraez (few have it). Want a lazy comp for the rest of the season? How about 2023-version of CJ Abrams.
SaraM
12:13
Morning, Brent. ☀️ Assuming all of them are healthy for September in a H2H league, how would you rank these pitchers? Fried, Scherzer, Reynaldo, Gallen, and Ragans.
Brent Hershey
12:13
Ranking for September: Gallen, Ragans, Fried, Scherzer, ReyLo. Beyond Gallen, all have some decent-sized Sept risk, tho.

Quick question for today! Is it more likely than not Holliday remains in the minors for this year? Thinking so, with Caminero more likely to get the call.
Brent Hershey
12:15
My view is that 1) Caminero comes up first—and likely very soon, but 2) Holliday follows by the end of August. Don't think BAL will keep him the minors for the rest of the season. (Also don't think he'll be traded.)
Bob
12:17
Do you think Crochet will be traded and have his IP per start go up?
Brent Hershey
12:17
A) Not sure, but leaning yes probably;
B) No. Don't think he'll be shut down/babied if he's moved, but don't see that his IP/ start increases with a trade.

If he stays, then I'd think CHW shuts him down at some point to protect. him some for 2025.

With two months left in season, and our trade deadline this week, don’t have any suggestions for moving up in non counting categories such as OBP, SLG, AVG? In an 8x8 15 team keeper, these are 3 cats that look to be super close… what type of player would I have to acquire ? Any under the radar recommendations?

Thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:18
Might start at the opposite end — which current players on your roster are projected to HURT you in those categories? Look to remove them (within reason of course). Tough calls, tho.

Thanks for taking my question Brent.  16 Team Mixed 5x5 Keeper League.  W, S, K-BB, ERA, and HIP.  Big desisions to make at Trade Deadline:  Please rank as keepers over next 2-3 years assuming same price:  Lodolo, Baz, H Brown, B Miller, Sale, Senga, Eury P
Brent Hershey
12:21
Brown / Sale / Baz / Lodolo / B Miller / Senga / Eury.

Miller + Eury could surprise me — though I question if Eury makes it back for form for that 2-3 year window. Would not shy away from Sale, even though he's older than the rest.

Feeling the need for speed with Yelich going down and Turang seemingly regressing hard. Who is your favorite waiver target: Robles, Jacob Young, or Dylan Moore? (5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:23
Probably Robles, then Moore / Young. Like Young for speed-only, but declining SB opps in-season has me a bit worried, and little else to fall back on in his profile.

Hi Brent. What kind of numbers do you expect from Jeffrey Springs ROS? His velocity is reportedly down at AAA (and was only 91.5 mph when he was great in 2022), and the Rays are selling, which suggests they may be extra cautious with him.
Brent Hershey
12:25
Think he can get by even with a velo drop. Can't expect he'll get all the way back to previous levels this year, given shorter track record than, say, Robbie Ray. I DO agree Rays likely to be cautious. Not sure I'd have high expectations.
Drew
12:26
If Elias Diaz is traded by the Rocks, who gets PT?  Is Drew Romo likely to get a shot?  Will Goodman get more AB?
Brent Hershey
12:26
Romo would benefit, probably. Not sure Goodman will get the CA AB; might sneak in some more if they move some other pieces, though.

12:32
Hi Brent! Assuming that more deals happen involving current NL closers, who closes in Miami? Who closes in Washington? Who closes in Chicago?
Brent Hershey
12:32
MIA - Bender would be my best guess, but could be open competition. Not likely to be a ton of opps, though.
WAS - Skills would point to Robert Garcia, but I guess Law and/or Floro would be in discussion, too
CHW - Again by skills, Brebbia, probably.

Tough calls, all.
Big J

12 tm h2h pts with -1 for K. Pick 1 for this week: Massey, Clement, Neto?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Neto.
schmoz
12:33
O'neill Cruz or Jazz Chisholm ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:33
Jazz, I think. Better park/lineup; should get a good-team boost.
Big J
12:33
Who comes back first, Yelich or Bichette?
Brent Hershey
12:33
Bichette
Johnny Dickshot
12:34
Likelihood that Ben Rice is the Yankees 1b for much longer?
