Happy Monday, all! I'm here to chat, so let's do it!

Weekly points league. I need to bring Clevinger off the IL or drop him. Given the Padres 6 man rotation, which 1 of these 3 do I drop; Clevinger, Lorenzen, or Stroman? Thank you for doing these Brent!
Brent Hershey
12:03
Think I'd go Lorenzen, worst skills of the three and shortest starting pitching track record. That said, was watching yesterday and was an impressive bounce back after the first inning.

Thanks for these wonderful Q&As! Who, in your opinion, are the best NL guys to get for saves - the best handcuffs for closers likely to get traded. Like Stratton or Wick…
Brent Hershey
12:06
Not a huge fan of either that you mentioned; though I guess Stratton a bit better? I still am intrigued by the MIA mess there; I think Mattingly WANTS to name one guy; he just hasn't emerged yet. I continue to wonder whether it will be Tanner Scott, though the walks are a problem. One other deep league possibility is Seranthony Domínguez. Knebel's been shaky, a new manager might take a shot a mixing things up there. Bit a of a longshot, but SD has pitched well.

4×4 NL Keeper: Please rank these 4 pitchers ros & long term: Pit Contreras, Cin Lodolo, Mia Hernandez, Mia Bender.
Brent Hershey
12:07
Both are as you have em; and there's a big gap on both lists between Lodolo and Hernandez.

Who has a better ROS...Bellinger or Winker?
Brent Hershey
12:12
My blind gut said Winker; but BHQ projections lean Bellinger. YTD skills about even ...  Belli's ct% dive is concerning, but he's going to give you some bags that Winker won't. And the team context is better. This is why I can't always trust my gut.

Is it time to give up on Trevor Rogers ?  I'm in a 16 team league and so pickings are somewhat slim. However, Ashcraft, Ed Cabrera, Pilkington, and Keegan Thompson are available free agents. Jump ship or stay the course ?
Brent Hershey
12:15
In a 16-teamer ... no, as long as you can move him on/off your bench according to matchups. Like this week, I'm rolling w/ him against WAS. That might not last all season, but I was a huge believer off 2021 and not ready to ditch him totally in this format. In a 12-tm, possibly. Still have hope he can recover. Of your list, I'd only consider dropping him for Cabrera -- but EC's walk history gives me pause as to how he'll translate in the short term.

Good morning Brett-two quick questions-I am in an AL and NL only 5x5 rotis keeper league with a $260 salary cap. In the AL I have been offered Amed Rosario ($10 in 2022 increases to $15 in 2023 and Nick Pratto ($5) for Josh Harrison ($12) and minor Austin Martin-Do I do the deal?
Brent Hershey
12:17
I'd lean yes; feel like the minor-leaguers are about even and Rosario > Harrison right now.
Greg
12:19
NL Keeper league $260 salary cap 5x5 I'm playing for next year and have been offered Nolan Gorman ($5 in year #1) for Corbin Burnes who is long termed-I have him $10 in 2022, $15 in 2023 and $20 in 2024. I would have Burnes for 2 1/2 years for Gorman for 5 years if I long term him. Do I accept the offer?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Nope; I'd hold Burnes no question, esp if you plan to be in it in 2023. Aces so much more difficult to find, and I'd want to make absolutely sure that Gorman makes it through the league-adjustment phase.

Any hope for Nick Senzel?  I have Vogelbach back now and Muncy coming back soon and I am thinking of dropping Senzel over Suwinski, which just seems insane to me.  (NL only 5x5 keeper league)
Brent Hershey
12:21
Hope? Yes, b/c of all the time he's missed, he's 'younger' than his 27 via MLB experience. That said, he's not shown much this year .. but in a keeper league, I'd still prefer his all-around skillset to Suwinski.

I'm speculating on NL saves in a 10 teams 5x5 roto league, trying not to kill my ratios in the mean time. Please rank these options ROS: D Hudson, Dominguez, T Scott, Kinley, R Suarez, Mantiply
Brent Hershey
12:26
Scott, Hudson, Domínguez ... <small gap>... Suárez, Mantiply, Kinley
Porcho Villa

Is Nimmo a hold (12-team 5x5 OBP), or should we be worried about the wrist injury sapping performance? Replacement options include Pham, Larnach, Jace Peterson, Ruf, B. Donovan, and J. Rojas.
Brent Hershey
12:27
I'm most surprised he hasn't attempted a SB yet, and can't see that has anything to do w/ his wrist. Other power metrics are tracking fine, and he's making the best contact of his career. Especially in an OBP league, he's a hold given his MLB context.
Larnach and J Rojas are interesting for sure, but I'd still prefer Nimmo.

Looking at 2b - 3b in a 5x5: McMahon has been dissapointing. Stay the course or replace with KB Hayes, Wong, Falefa, or Suarez?
Brent Hershey
12:28
Hayes > McMahon an easy call for me; think I'd hold RMcM ahead of the others.
Michael
12:30
Considering you have Stott in your picture.  Who would you rather have right now: Stott or Bohm in a 5x5?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Bohm pretty easily, b/c he has a steady job (though admittedly it's been rough lately). Stott has at the most recent mega-highlight (and thus the picture -- and a goody at that). Take the known ABs for now.

Hi Brent, can you rank the following pitchers? K. Bradish, C. Kilian, R. Feltner, J. Koenig, M. Swarmer, K. Pilkington. League has 16 teams with 32-man rosters (with keepers) and is H2H categories.
Brent Hershey
12:33
ROS:
Bradish, Kilian, Pilkington <gap> Feltner, Swarmer, Koenig; if more concerned long-term, could see Kilian > Bradish

Will Jake McCarthy get enough PT to be worth picking up? He was, then he wasn't. How about Oscar Gonzalez?
Brent Hershey
12:37
Mildly intrigued, but PT is the question. McCarthy will have to outplay Smith and Peralta (as long as he's around) and Varsho, too, if Kelly comes back and catches some. Thomas is a PT lock, and a better OF prospect, Corbin Carroll, is not far behind.
So, to answer your question, likely "no."
Gonzalez's path to PT could be easier, but it's more of a BA and some pop profile. Neither have a huge prospect pedigree, so likely the leash for each will be short.

Who would you prefer in a saves and holds league among Diego Castillo, Alex Lange, Joe Mantiply, Tyler Kinley  and Eli Morgan?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Probably Castillo (who could still grab some saves), then Lange or Morgan (who at this point are holds-only guys). Mantiply being LH and more of a command guy has me a bit dubious.

Speed round question: Houck grabs the saves in Beantown in the second half?
Brent Hershey
12:41
If given the chance, yes. Question is how likely is he to be given that chance?

is baez in trouble? cant hit sliders they are saying. thank you
Brent Hershey
12:42
Notoriously streaky; and this is one of the bad stretches. Hope he gets hot; but it's not guaranteed either. And yes, low/away SL has been the book for a while

Please rank, Yastrermski, Laureano,Taylor Ward ROS. Standard 5x5.
Brent Hershey

Laureano, Ward (could be #1 if health not a issue) <gap> Yaz.

Hey Brent - Obviously, Girardi was the only problem in Philly and Rob Thompson is the next Casey Stengel!  But seriously, folks I'm in a 12 team NL only keeper league, leading the league in K's (by a lot) and wins (by a little) and middle of the pack in era and whip, but now lost Woodruff. I have Roansy Contreres on my reserve roster. He's looked good so far. If I activate him, he's on my roster all year unless they send him down again. You think it's safe to roster him or should I play it safe and just pick up a middle reliever with good era and whip?  Thx!
Brent Hershey
12:47
I'd activate; I think PIT will not let him get trashed, so for you, if he's up he's doing OK. I'd not expect huge IP numbers, but I would expect good numbers for when he's in. So ... kinda like a good middle reliever, in a sense. Expect some 4-inning starts with a run or two, 5 K, and then some 5-6 innings ones with 6/7 Ks and occasional win. Big Roansy fan here, and your spot sounds like one that matches well w/ how PIT will use him in 2022.

Eddy Alvarez and Hanser Alberto instead of Miguel Vargas? Explain, please.
