Dodgers; placeholders until trade market opens up; they are unlikely to throw Vargas right in the middle of everything w/ no MLB experience. Could well be the trade piece going out.

Is Trevor Rogers worth a #1 waiver add? He was just dropped.
Brent Hershey
12:48
If you can manage his starts (on/off bench) and it's a deepish league, then yes.

Hi Brent. Happy Monday. In AL-only league and wondering your thoughts on which of these bad-starting hitters is most likely to turn it around (soon) -- Dalbec, Grandal, Moncada, K.Smith? Or maybe none of them? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:50
I'd give Moncada the best chance, then Grandal. But yeah, rough quartet there.

How do you feel about punting saves in Roto leagues?  I am sitting pretty high up the standings with a deep roster outside of closers.  Currently a 2 in saves, 12 behind the next team.  At what point would you punt or overpay for saves?  6x6 12 team roto (OPS and K/BB added to 5x5)
Brent Hershey
12:52
Seems like it would be a bit easier in a 6x6. 12 saves is not crazy to make up, though, in a 12-teamer; not sure that I'd commit to that just yet. There hasn't been a lot of CL role movement recently; keep that in mind. Some new sources could be coming.

Hi Brent, two closer questions.  1) What are odds that Bednar is dealt (I think it is very low but cannot afford to lose saves)? Is S. Dominguez a legit candidate to close given Knebel's struggles?
Brent Hershey
12:55
1) I tend to think it's low, too ... but PIT would be crazy to not consider it depending what the offer was. None of us really knows much on that front.
2) Hesitant to say legit given the dugout turnover; but a few things line up to say it could be possible (new manager, SD is pitching better than other options, CK not looking super sharp as you mention).

Thanks for getting a third of the way home, Brent.  Ross Stripling has two nice starts but my league focuses on wins (and he has thrown 77 pitches in last two combined!).  Odds of at least one win? 50/50 or 75%?
Brent Hershey
12:56
50/50, I'd say. Fair points all around.

Ranger Suarez’s results so far, both surface and under the hood, look pretty grim, yet your projections for him are still good. Which is he, his results, his projections, or somewhere in between? NL only, hold or try to trade?
Brent Hershey
12:58
In between, but yes I can understand the skepticism w/r/t our projections on this one. I'd listen to offers for sure.

Any value to Braxton Garrett, NL only?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Nah, too many other good options in MIA.

One more!? What are your thoughts on B Serven on Colorado? I have Diaz & I am thinking of switching!
Brent Hershey
12:58
It's a thought I've had in a couple places as well.

What are your thoughts on Andrew Vaughn through 8 weeks? Breakout potential?
Brent Hershey

Yep; on the way.

Catcher has been endlessly frustrating for me this year. Currently have Heim and Jansen (one C league, like to audition two at a time, maximize ABs, ride hot streaks) who have been lame for a while now. Would happily drop either or both to stream from the wire (13 team mixed) but their YTD stats look good enough that I could see them getting snatched up just to see them get back on track for another team. ANYWAY...d'Arnaud, Trevino, Grandal, Nola, Higgins all on the WW. However painful it is, my instinct is to wait it out for now with Heim/Jansen and be ready to pounce if I get clear signals on the WW catchers...agree?
Brent Hershey
12:59
Yes, I like Heim/Jansen better than that field for ROS

Do you anticipate Vinny Pasq having fantasy value when he's called up?  Wondering if he is a more valuable chip prior to seeing MLB pitching.
Brent Hershey
1:01
I do think he'll be fine ... BUT, his value might never be higher and it's not like KC have a sure-fire spot for him with Pratto, MJM, other veterans all needing AB. Never hurts to see what others might give.

How do you see the PHI bullpen situation playing out?
Brent Hershey
1:03
Depends how long this hot streak lasts. If in the next 10 days, CK has blown another one or two that have led to losses and the Thomson honeymoon is over, could be time for a switch. But he could still struggle, the team still wins, and I doubt they'll make a change then. Just on watch right now.

Rhys or Votto ROS in an OPS league?
Brent Hershey

Votto. Rhys a big disappointment in that category (and others) so far

Hi Brent, I appreciate everything HQ
6 offensive cats (OBP & Total Bases)
Bryan Reynolds or Trevor Larnach?
digging Larnach's skills but Reynolds history is more proven.
Brent Hershey

I still lean Reynolds via track record

Will Smith (C) has been a little underwhelming thus far compared to preseason expectations. The C landscape seems to be flush with some exciting options, is the replacement value at C in a position where I could sell off Smith in a keeper league for other areas of need? Would be able to acquire K Ruiz or even Melendez at a lower cost than what Smith would net me.
Brent Hershey
1:06
Valid points on all -- though would say that Smith's team context a galaxy apart, and that also matters.

Hi and thanks for great chats! Contending in 10-tm H2H category, w Baz about to come off my IL — E-Rod, Lynn & Heaney soon to follow. Need to drop 2-3 SPs from Morton (hurts to consider), Sandoval, Pivetta, Whitlock, Montgomery & E-Rod (disappointing before IL). Who goes and who has ROS shallow league value?
Brent Hershey
1:07
E-Rod and Heaney, probably? Would wait as long as I could to make this decision, tho.

J Duran has lead off for the Sox both times he came up.  He has strong a low K rate and each year he adjusts to the new level.
Brent Hershey

Yes, though I have doubts as to he makes it past JBJ's paternity stint.

In a roto league and looking for MI help.  I can choose between Biggio, Senzel, Duran, Stott.  Who would you choose?
Brent Hershey

Duran in hopes of landing the hot hand, but wouldn't close the book on the search

12 team AL-only traditional 5X5 keeper:  Please evaluate Vidal Brujan for this year and longer-term. He has been a disappointment so far this season.
