hey justin! strategy question - i'm solidly in 2nd in a 15tm league, with a reasonable chance at winning. the catch: the categories i can make up the most ground in are pitching: WHIP, ERA, and Wins. i've been burned trying to play matchups - left guys on the bench when they would have helped. in this scenario, do you just go for it and run everyone out there basically every start? or do you try to load up on MRs who can help ratios and play it smart with starter matchups?

I really try and curate who I am starting to not blow my ratios. I would rather start a good reliever than a bad starter.

I suspect I focus on prospect and break out players too much at the expense of bona fide talent that will help me break out of the perpetual 4-5th place I usually end up in Ottoneu. When/how do you decided to bite the bullet and overpay for the present at the expense of the future?

I take it on a case by case basis. I look for core skills and opportunity. Sometimes it bites me like with Langford this year, but sometimes you fall into a goldmine. For me it is often based on price. I don't typically spend a top 5 round pick on a guy like that

Yeah, this has been a massively frustrating season for him. I think it is part regression/skills decline and part bad luck. I am interested to see what his price is next season

Jeter was funny talking about Judge. He doesnt get pitching to Judge either. Judge saw 8 of 12 pitches in the zone last game. They love throwing down middle to him. They actually threw a curve in a full count middle middle and he “only” hit it 357 for a flyout.
Best was after Soto smashed it out, first pitch upper middle. Criswell tried his first pitch middle middle to Judge and got it crushed, before going ball ball HR to Stanton to finish his 1-2-3 inning. I am pretty sure I am using that term correctly. 😆. Just crazy they arent trying outside zone and then when he doesnt chase and they walk him they can save face and say they threw at him. Nope, just dare him inside the zone. Crazy!
