Any hope for post hype Brendan Rodgers or Gavin Lux?
Kevin Goldstein
12:34
Not giving up on Lux yet, but was never a big believer in Rodgers. Again, I look at lot at approach and contact and Rodgers struggles in both categories.

Who are the top new GM targets for the Colorado job, do you think? What unlikely orgs would would you try to mine for front office talent (beyond the usual yankees, dodgers, rays)?
Kevin Goldstein
12:35
There are tons. I think they need a house cleaning, but I'm not convinced they'll just stay internal as they always have....
Mike
12:36
Any new draft dope? Is the top 10 starting to come together at this point?
Kevin Goldstein
12:36
Still more than two months to go, and still a lot of fluidity....
Brett
12:36
Time to cut bait on Kyle Tucker for fantasy purposes?
Kevin Goldstein
12:37
Not at all. He's been exceptionally unlucky this year. I actually think he's a good buy low guy, not that I understand fantasy baseball at all.

Mathew Liberatore thoughts? solid #2 potential?
Kevin Goldstein
12:37
Feels like more of 4 to me.

With league wide batting average continuing to drop could guys like Nick Madrigal become a new market inefficiency? Not saying you need an entire team of those types but could one or 2 in a lineup make a big difference?
Kevin Goldstein
12:39
Not really. Runs are runs and creating them in one way or another is not an inefficiency.

who has more pop - madrigal or JP crawford?
Kevin Goldstein
12:40
Crawford.

12:40
we see lots of articles about what the biggest missing piece for teams on the field is (An ace! A power bat!) but do you think it would be possible to write something like that for front offices?
Kevin Goldstein
12:41
Not without REALLY knowing the internals.
Kevin
12:42
You wrongly said that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon don't have any great movies. Argo not in your top 500 films of all time?
Kevin Goldstein
12:43
No. I watched the weird Gus Van Sant film Gerry last week, and Matt Damon was good in it. It's not a great movie.
Tom
12:43
If you were the Brewers, would you send Hiura to the minors? He seems pretty lost these days....
Kevin Goldstein
12:43
I'd at least be discussing it...
Kevin

Movie rankings: Top 100 all time yes or no. Pulp Fiction. Matrix. No Country for Old Men. The Dark Knight. Inception. The Green Mile. Gigli.
Kevin Goldstein
12:44
Yes, No, ABSOLUTELY YES, No, No, No, No.
Kevin

If you could point to 1 thing that Fangraph fans, and fans in general misunderstand about todays game of baseball what would it be? And why?
Kevin Goldstein
12:44
How much makeup and human factors matter. Players are not strat-o-matic cards or just a series of grades like in video games.

I'm in a H2H points league and in the unenviable position of needing to start either Hendricks against the Dodgers or Lynch in his MLB debut? Who has more upside (or maybe less downside)?
Kevin Goldstein
12:45
Not crazy about either. Would feel safer with Hendricks.

On the topic of "high stress innings" - I've seen a lot of analysts sort of blow off the impact of minor league innings on young pitchers' arms on the basis that they're "low stress innings." I've never understood why pitchers who are fighting for promotions wouldn't be throwing at 100%. Do FOs see minor league innings as less stressful?
Kevin Goldstein
12:45
They do not.

Are you disappointed that Kane County is no longer in the Midwest League?
Kevin Goldstein
12:46
Very. Beloit is only an hour from here. I'll be fine.

Do you think Mackenzie Gore needs to work through his supposed "yips" in the minors before he gets the call? Or is he up in the next couple months even if he's struggling?
Kevin Goldstein
12:47
The way the Padres are going health wise might just force their hand.

Chipotle or Falafel wrap for lunch?
Kevin Goldstein
12:48
We have leftovers here, but if those were my choices, Chipotle.

How come front offices don't usually make trades until close to the deadline? It seems like a few teams are already pretty clearly out of it, and some contenders have holes - why not make trades in May?
Kevin Goldstein
12:49
Just fewer sellers and fewer desperate buyers so the market is understandably slower.

do players and owners care about the various aesthetic issues that drive many fans and media types crazy (ie too few balls in play, pace or play)?  Or do they just not care because these issues doesn’t seem to affect the bottom line much?
Kevin Goldstein
12:50
The latter. They're just trying to win games and dealing with the reality in front of them.

Do you think the Yankees would draft a prep catcher (i.e. Joe Mack, Harry Ford) after taking 3 catchers in the top 2 rounds in the last 3 years?
Kevin Goldstein
12:51
Sure, if he's the best player on the board at the time. Why not?
