I know the obvious answer is no every player is different. Expanding beyond that, is there something inherit that all 18 year old Rookie ball players must learn (hitters or pitchers). Like can an org create a "manual" on instructing players or does each player need to be treated completely unique?
Kevin Goldstein

The best player development operations treat each player like the unique individual that they are. There is no one size fits all solution.

do you expect his broken finger to impact Framber Valdez’s season once he gets stretched out?
Kevin Goldstein

TBD, but probably not.

Thoughts on Kiner-Falefa? Has already surpassed his full-season projected WAR. Something new, lucky?
Kevin Goldstein

He's been really good, but can I go on a rant about WAR? WAR is NOT a counting stat. If IKF goes 0-for-50, his WAR will go DOWN.

Will more prospects make the jump to the majors from AA or AA now? It seems more likely for pitchers to go up from AA.
Kevin Goldstein

Maybe. My question is how will teams deal with the smaller orgs and will veterans/insurance policies at AAA be more frequent/less frequent/the same as in the past.

Thoughts on Willie Calhoun rest of year?

I was just looking at him yesterday, and I'm encouraged.

When a team acquires a player, what do they do to help him transition to the new org and city? Are some teams better at it than others? Thinking about why some FAs underperform and others hit the ground running
Kevin Goldstein

Absolutely help in terms of housing and family stuff.

If a team’s upside is 80 wins, why should they be trying hard to win since it will cost the owners more money and hurt their draft position at the end of the season?
Kevin Goldstein

There are a lot of teams that think like this....

Is Chef a good movie?
Kevin Goldstein

It's good. It's not great, but sure, it's good.

What's the solution for avoiding the "mediocrity just costs money and draft positioning?" Greater share of the TV money based on your overall record?

It's an idea. I do think the players are going to be focused on this kind of thing in the CBA talks.
Ok folks, that's 90 minutes in the books. Thanks so much for all of the great questions and I'll see you next week. Same time, same bat channel.
