Not even sure he's the best prospect in that Yankees J2 group

Any structure to the Denver meetup Friday?  Or is it just talkin' Trout and drinkin' beers and eatin' apps?
AvatarKiley McDaniel

I am open to talking about all 30 major league franchises, in exactly equal amounts.

Josh Breaux and Rider Green both signed with but aren't assigned to affilates yet. Are they in ExSt ramping up?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
1:26
That's a safe assumption

Any news on Mize's eventual signing bonus?
AvatarKiley McDaniel

Heard 7.5 or thereabouts

Whose on top of your Prep 2020 board?

Lots of interesting names, probably still Austin Hendrick but that may change in the next month or two. First look at Dylan Crews was very solid but he's more of a LF type.

Why didn't anyone know Swaggerty before Team USA?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
1:28
Not a highly recruited guy that went to South Alabama. Area scouts generally knew the name as a guy they needed to go see, but he had no buzz at all.

Is Alex Kiriloff a 60 Hit 60 Game Power guy? Seems like he's exceeding expectations a bit
AvatarKiley McDaniel

One of the few guys in the minors where that's possible

"If some team dips all their pitchers upside down in a pool before every start then none of them get injured...I'm pretty sure there's no correlation there but I'd look into it."<- this is correlation, but not causation ;)

That's what I meant!

Do any players factor in the track record of the team that drafts them?  I would think for pitchers especially this could be important.
AvatarKiley McDaniel
1:31
I've had advisors ask me specifically for my thoughts on this. If you have an overslot prep pitcher that can pick between 3-4 teams and one has a great track record with pitching, is your price $2.0M instead of $2.5M for that team?
1:32
I know one player in the top half of the first round this year that preferred to play for the team that took him instead of the one picking ahead of that team and priced himself accordingly. It's not that uncommon.

If a team were to poach the best scout from every other team, how much of an advantage would they have?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
1:32
Good luck figuring out who all the best scouts are. How would you go about doing that? How would you define best?

How rampant is drinking in the minors?
AvatarKiley McDaniel

Important to stay hydrated, that's why there's water coolers in the dugouts

Kiley, what do you think is a realistic future for Enyel De Los Santos?  4/5?  Pen arm?  any worry about the short stride?

Was in the discussion for the top 131, but slipped off due to relief risk. Good stuff though.

Matt Mclain had a few bregman comps. Fair assessments? seems like he's lacking in the power department.
AvatarKiley McDaniel
1:34
Yeah not the same guy at all and the 3 years of raking at LSU is kinda a big deal when it comes to draft stock

I think that complaint should be directed at other chatters. I love the prospect chats and I hope they remain focused on prospects

You and Eric seemed to rate Kyler Murray and Travis Swaggerty as similar players, but Swaggerty had the advantage of a more proven track record, and hit from the left side. Aside from speed what do you think the A's see in Murray that made it worth taking on so much more risk?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
1:37
The question is if Murray's ability to hit good breaking stuff improves or if that concrete has already set. It's a fair question given his lack of reps, since those are the kinds of players that improve at that skill. The tools are very similar--Murray a little faster, Swaggerty a little more pop and arm strength. They're both the rare power-oriented college up the middle player with plus tools
