Hey, y'all! We'll get going in a few minutes
10:53
A small amount of grace if I get behind - the gpu on my big rig crapped out this weekend so I'm on a laptop that gets cranky with my big MLB sheets.
But I've got a bunch of answers loaded up already

Let's go!

Keep 5. Ocuna, JRod, Gunnar and BWJ solid locks. Adley, Luis Castillo or Logan Web for #5. I tend to stream successfully through the year so I’m leaning Adley. Thoughts?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:01
If you’re comfortable with your streaming skills, I’d lean Adley. Catcher is strong but I’m cool with locking up someone so young/elite. I’m strong on streaming too so I’ll generally favor an elite hitter over a starter.

Any reason to hold onto Casey Schmitt in 24 team dynasty?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:01
24-team leagues are so deep that almost any possible starter might be worth keeping but I don’t think Schmitt will supplant Luciano so you’d be keeping a likely bench bat that’ll only gain value through an unlikely trade/injury - I’d pass him on.

Joc Pederson worth taking or is he a wait until he’s actually productive and pick him up at that point?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
Pederson is worth a pick, IF you’re in a daily moves league where his platoon-y role won’t kill you. In weekly leagues, he’s a pass for me.

Good afternoon,

In an AL-only, 5x5 keeper league, I have Volpe for $10, Correa for $17, Gelof for $10, and B. Lowe for $11. If I retain Volpe at SS, how would you suggest I play the other three at 2B & MI? I am of a mindset to keep Gelof at 2B and Correa at MI, but should I simply drop Correa and try to get him back at a cheaper price?  I would appreciate your thoughts.  Thanks.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
I’d drop Correa to try and try to buy back at a discount. Even in an AL-only, $17 seems too steep.

Could you please list your top twelve picks in a 12 team head to head standard roto? Thank you!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
1. Ronald Acuña Jr. - #1 until we actually hear something
2. Mookie Betts
3. Spencer Strider
4. Shohei Ohtani
5. Bobby Witt Jr.
6. Aaron Judge
7. Freddie Freeman
8. Julio Rodríguez
9. Kyle Tucker
10. Trea Turner
11. Juan Soto
12. Fernando Tatis Jr.
pitchers
11:02
Please rank the following sophomore pitchers for both this year and long term: Brayan Bello, Bryce Miller, Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
Bibee for both this season and long term.
Closers
11:03
I'm torn between freezing Jhoan Duran and Andres Muñoz. I can't freeze both because of their high salaries. Who will get the most saves? Who will stay healthier?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
I’m a huge Munoz guy…unless you’re comparing him to Duran. Gimme the Twin for Saves and health.
Hitters
11:03
Between Alex Kirilloff and Kerry Carpenter in a tradition 5x5 roto league, who's going to have the better year? And will Kirilloff stay healthy?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
CARPENTER!!!.I’m a big fan. And no, Alexander Kiriloff will not stay healthy - just not his thing lol

NL 5X5 11 teams. Are a $25 Reynolds and $20 Nimmo retainable prices? Is Senaga at $22 retainable or are you worried about his injury?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
$25 for Reynolds is reasonable, but $20 Nimmo is a bit steep - I’d aim for more in the $15-16 range. Senga is on my don’t draft list - love the talent but can’t risk the injury.
Keeper Decision
11:04
Hi Nick,  I have keeper decisions to make. How do you project Sheehan and Boyle for this year and going forward? Will Warren is an option for me as well. Thanks
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
Big fan of Sheehan. Love him the most long-term but probably only looking at 90-100 IP this season.

Thanks for the fantasy chat.  In an AL-only, 5x5, $260 league, do you think that Davis Schneider is worth $9?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
Too rich for me given playing time risks

14 team dynasty with 45 man rosters -- how do you feel about this pitching staff? (I know it's solid but keep falling short...can't figure out what I'm missing)
11:06
Re-sending this as I pressed 'send' in error last time. 14 team dynasty, 45 man rosters. Roto but with QS instead of Wins. What do you think of this staff? Anything obvious lacking? I ask because I've come top 4 in this league 5 years in a row but can't seem to get over the hump... SP: Luis Castillo, Logan Gilbert, Tyler Glasnow, Justin Verlander, Merrill Kelly, Eduardo Rodriguez, Walker Buehler, Lance Lynn, Taijuan Walker, Kenta Maeda. RP: Josh Hader, Jordan Romano, Paul Sewald. Prospects: Wikelman Gonzalez, Hayden Birdsong
Nicklaus Gaut
11:06
Solid staff on paper - love your top-2 - but you’ll need a lot of health to make it work. The elite RP trio will give you some breathing room with your ratios, though
JT3
11:06
Amongst the trio of potential stud Mariner starting pitchers, who will provide the most bang for your buck in a 15-team roto draft: Luis Castillo in the 2nd round, George Kirby in the 3rd round, or Logan Gilbert in the late 4th or early 5th round?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:06
Kirby in the 3rd round - That WHIP (and IP) is just such a value tentpole
Dan Grant
11:06
In dynasty -- Alex Canario or Cedanne Rafaela?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
Canario
Question Mark
11:07
How hurt is Samuel Basallo?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
Not too much? Stress fractures are pretty straightforward so I’d say a small IL stint to start is the most likely scenario

The 2023-24 FA market is clearly dislocated.  The SFG have been a bridesmaid often & recent on the free agent market, they should take advantage and target Jordan Montgomery with a substantial guarantee like 6yr/$126M + ability to earn another $15-20M more via health/incentive bonuses.  The organization needs to walk away from this off-season with a long term piece, I think he pairs great with Webb at the top of the SF rotation.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
I think Montgomery would be an excellent fit in San Francisco - both for real life and fantasy.
Long Balls

I am in a 12 team H2H keeper league using OPS, Avg, HR, RBI, SB, and R.  We can keep 4 players.  I am currently keeping JRod, Gunnar, & Bobby Miller and I have the #3 pick and the #6 pick in rd 1 and 3 2nd rd picks. I am set up really well this year to win the title, but I am really torn on my last keeper between Gorman, Steer, N. Marte, or Casas.  All of those options have the same keeper value.  Love to hear your thoughts.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
Unless you have a big positional need that the other guys fit, I’d go with Marte.

In a dynasty league, would you keep Justin Steele, Bryan Bello or Paul Skenes?
