30 team dynasty league. I want to add a high end starting pitcher for second half. Is Logan O’Hoppe a fair offer for Bryce Miller? Miller’s owner is deep at starting pitcher but needs a starting catcher. Both player’s have 5 years control. I am in first place and he is out of playoff picture.

It's a fair offer given the other owner's roster position but it might need a sweetener since he's out of the playoff picture and probably isn't desperate to acquire a catcher

Cecconi has a great WHIP and a bloated ERA. Which is the true indicator of what he is? You’re allowed to take the cop out answer of somewhere in between but I won’t like it.

He's a better pitcher than his ERA but the lack of a true "out" pitch will continue holding him back. Until his slider gets back to getting a lot more whiffs, he'll be riding a thin line
small samples but his slider Whiff% is down 20 points from last year

Stallings or Higashioka for second catcher if you had to pick one.

Any deep obp league interest in Willie Calhoun or Jon Singleton? Cut would be Andrew Vaughn.
Nicklaus Gaut

Long-time Vaughn-hater here but I still wouldn't cut him for either of those two

Alejandro Kirk worth hanging on to in a 18-team, 35 man roster league?  I have a couple of guys better than him coming off IL in the next couple of days and it's probably coming down to him or Max Schuemann.  And I have 3 other C-eligible players on the roster (Murphy, Davis, Raleigh).  Kirk just isn't showing signs of coming around.

Never been much of a believer - can be cut as needed

Would Jordan Leasure be enough to sweeten the O’Hoppe for Miller offer?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:03
In theory, yes. But it'll come down to the owner's thoughts on catcher value in dynasty, which often vary from manager to manager
Personally, I generally won't give up much for a dynasty catcher but a 30-team league is so deep that it should bump O'Hoppe's value up
12:04
But you just never know with teams who are already out of contention

I had Christian Scott on my NL-only roster and loved him, but as we all know, he was sent down. So I grabbed up Spencer Schwellenbach this morning with very little preparatory homework. What can I expect from him, if anything? I'm usually not such an impulsive clown.
Nicklaus Gaut

Don't be so hard on yourself!
12:06
I like Scott more but Schwellenbach isn't exactly a scrub. Big time stuff with a ton of whiffs. You could do worse

I'm beginning to figure out the details - a little.

What’s your take on Ryan O’Hearn’s value in a 30 team dynasty league? He is eligible at 1B and OF.
Nicklaus Gaut
12:08
It's good but volatile given his splits/lack of playing time vs LHP
But in 30-team leagues, you can't be too picky

My bullpen should be closed permanently. Any sleepers on the horizon I can watch out for?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:09
lol I really like the idea of clicking on your roster and your bullpen just has a big "Closed until further notice" sign
12:11
I don't know how deep your league goes on rostering the top setup men but I always start with high-K middle RP guys on teams unlikely to compete/could see their bullpen emptied out via trades.

Re: catcher value - I've come to believe that catchers are the relievers of hitters. With the exception of maybe 3-5 guys the performance is so volatile and interchangeable that I don't spend a ton of resources there.
Nicklaus Gaut
12:12
Yeah, I'm there with you in single catcher leagues. I have found a lot of success in my two-catcher leagues with investing in two top guys but I refuse to stress about the position in single catcher

Is Luis Garcia's renaissance for real?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:16
He's not going to have a big power breakout but could be a 15 HR guy, which along with the rest of his well-rounded categories, will give him more value than you think. IE whole is more than sum of parts
12:17
I've always really like Garcia, simply because he's gotten so many big league at bats. I mean the dude has seemingly been around forever but only just turned 24 and has 1500 PA

Bryce Miller and Ryan O’Hearn for Logan O’Hoppe, Jordan Leasure, Bradley Blalock O’Hearn and Ross are controllable for next season but Ross is a little cheaper. Maybe I need to add a

That's a good feeling out offer. Might take it, might have to add a little

Alright, y'all - gotta run
Thanks to everyone, as always, for all of the questions.
