But seriously, he deserves a lot more. Not pacing for quite as many HR as last year but the 40-point bump in AVG more than makes up for it

12 team H2H points league weekly roster changes.  I have zero bench spots right now because my IL is overflowing (Alvarez, Casas, Robert, Acuna and Jung).  Rhys Hoskins is on the WW, do I drop Nathaniel Lowe for him in one of my UT slots?  And do I take a chance Robert comes back this week and put him in the lineup for O'Neil Cruz?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:27
In a vacuum, I'd rather have Hoskins over Lowe but it really depends on your scoring rules
11:28
It appears that Robert will be back on Tuesday

Is it time to give up on Torkelson in dynasty formats? I try to be patient with guys, especially with such well-regarded hit tools, but man it's been a tough ride waiting him out.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:29
Ugg, he's so annoying
I really though he'd take some big steps this year
But also last year...
11:30
I'm not giving up on him but I wouldn't exactly keep diamond hands on him

Good afternoon Nick, and thanks for doing these chats.  In my AL-only, 5x5 Rotisserie League (we have 6 reserve slots and unlimited IL slots), the owner of Torkelson just dropped him completely.  Should I try to pick him up in next week's FAAB round; does he have any value this year?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:30
Welcome to Tork-Talk!
11:31
In AL-only, he's still a worthwhile lotto ticket that can sit on your bench and maybe cash later
And you're welcome!
11:32
Depends on how many extras you're rolling with but it's still going to be a few weeks, even if they're all lights out, to start seeing real movement

I had three starters go on the roster. Nothing good on the wire so I picked up some RPers. How long does it typically take for RP to help lower your ERA and WHIP?
Nicklaus Gaut

Depends on how many extras you're rolling with but it's still going to be a few weeks, even if they're all lights out, to start seeing real movement
However, it's also possible to get really good results - I've seen it many time from my own experience. I'm typically an RP crammer whenever my staffs are hit hard by injuries
11:34
And a lot of times, it's simply your best strategy option when the waiver wire is picked clean and the only choices are substandard guys who might completely blow your ratios in a week

5x5 NL-only, 8-team 3-year keeper league: I'm in the scrum for first place, and I traded a $5 J. Fraley and $7 L. Gurriel for M. Harris and B. Doyle (prices don't matter because I won't keep them). At this point, all categories can benefit from upgrades. What do you think? Worth losing those possible keepers? Will Harris improve ROS? Will Doyle keep stealing bases and produce a solid BA? Thanks.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:35
I like your side.
11:36
Harris is a good bet to improve and Doyle will keep stealing. But I'd expect that a BA-dip will come

Montero is some what young at 25. Is he what we see or is there potential for more?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:37
I apparently keep liking him more than others. Seemingly write about him every other week in my points article at RotoBaller but his Roster% never increases
11:39
People should like him more and not just because of the Coors factor. Hasn't showed as much pop this year but a 6% HR/FB isn't helping. But the biggest improvement is he's apparently stopped being a monster whiffer - 20% K% after +30% in is other two years. His SwStr% says the strikeout rate will climb back up but it's still down like 3-4 points

What in the world is wrong with Joe Musgrove?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:42
lol just absolutely getting smashed
fastballs have been trash and are just getting teed off on and his secondaries aren't much better
11:43
it seems like literally everything getting hit, is getting hit super hard
His statcast page is just a pile of blue saying "my cheese is getting smashed"

Deep NL only keeper. Any interest in Calvin Faucher or Porter Hodge as longshot closer stashes in steuggling/trade prone bullpens?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:45
Hodge has the flashier stuff but still walks too many to have a realistic path to closer.
11:46
Faucher is a more interesting stash just because the Marlins bullpen will likely be picked clean by the time the trade deadline hits
Moreno
11:47
I'm currently holding on to Gabby Moreno as my starting Catcher. Is it time to move on from him or do you think he can bounce back this summer? - Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:47
I'd be fine with moving on if there is someone better on the wire. But that's a big if

12tm OBP league. Should I be looking to sell low on Arenado? I have Bregman & Westburg. Last place team has some decent assets & Arenado has some keeper appeal at $20. Possible targets being JDM, Holmes, Verdugo, Freddy Peralta. Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:49
If you could get Holmes or Peralta in a deal for Arenado, I'd definitely do it
Arenado's OBP value has just taken such a massive hit the past couple of years

Is Ryan Weathers a worthy post-hype pickup?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:51
yeah absolutely
safe bet with a good floor
