For me it was PB&J. I was on quite a few different teams and this was the one constant.

How does it feel jogging out to the mound knowing 30,000 fans are watching you? I'd imagine it to be a surreal experience. Congrats on playing in the bigs!
Jacob Turner
10:37
It is a feeling that is hard to replicate the first few times you do it.

Something that is talked about alot is X organization can't develop pitchers. How much do you think the organization you're drafted by impact a players development?
Jacob Turner
10:37
I think in today's game with technology this plays a massive role. The teams that invest in player development win in the long run.

What was it like playing in Korea? Memorable? Miserable? A little bit of everything?
Jacob Turner
10:39
I truly enjoyed my time there. There were certainly challenges but it made me appreciate the Latin American and international players in the states.

Hey Jacob! How different was your “day to day” in between starts at the MLB level? Like what are examples of how you treated each day differently? I’d imagine the day right after a start would be full of rest and relaxation, but the day before you completely different game plan.
Jacob Turner
10:40
For me I would start and then day 1 would be a lift/recovery day, day 2 would be a life/light catch/study day, day 3 would be a bullpen day, day 4 would be a light catch/study day and then pitch day 5.

Did you enjoy your time more with the Cubs or White Sox?
Jacob Turner
10:40
I enjoyed both but they offer vastly different experiences.

You said the first time you were traded you were shocked and realized the business.   How exactly did you find out?  Were you "brought in" somewhere?  Woken in the middle of the night by a phone call?   Can you explain that human side process?

What was the first thing you bought with your first big payday?
Jacob Turner

I bought a new computer but not much else.

Does the mlb provide any help or training regarding financial literacy after these young men get their large signing bonuses? Any example of players being smart or dumb with their newly found wealth?
Jacob Turner
10:42
I think this is something that can always be improved. I produce educational content around this and mostly put it out via Twitter. @thesuddenwealth.

Do you feel like heckling from fans has an actual negative effect on a players performance?
Jacob Turner
10:43
No, it is part of the game and players know that. I think players respect fans that do some research and have funny things to say.

What were some of your favorite things to do on off days during your career?
Jacob Turner

Explore the city we were playing in

What did you notice the difference between players who played in college versus those directly from high school?
Jacob Turner
10:45
College draftees have a different level of maturity to their game than high school draftees do.

Which fan base was the most ruthless on the road?
Jacob Turner
10:45
I don't know if I would call them ruthless but I think Philly fans always brought a good atmosphere.

Hi there - tell me about the difference (jump) from the minors to the majors please.
Jacob Turner
10:46
For a pitcher the biggest difference is the depth of the lineup. In AAA you might have 3-5 guys you are navigating in the lineup. In the big leagues 1-9 can do damage.

Do you still watch games on a regular basis? Do you watch/root for any team you played for more than others?
Jacob Turner
10:47
I watch good pitching matchups or clients we have. My son is starting to play so I have taken him to a few games.

is there a specific type of contract that you think is more beneficial for players based on your current work as a financial advisor
Jacob Turner
10:47
I think it depends on the player and what he is trying to achieve. The easy answer is more money up front and less deferrals.

Give us a good Jose Fernandez story.  He was my favorite pitcher of all time despite routinely shutting down my Braves and the occasional bench clearing.
Jacob Turner
10:49
Jose was the most talented pitcher I ever played with. I remember in KC, our pitching coach was harping on him throwing more changeups. Changeups are such a feel pitch and often take years to master, Jose almost never threw one. The next game he threw like 20 and got a few strikeouts on them. A truly incredible teammate and pitcher.

I just looked up your Twitter while this chat was going.  You are producing really good content.  How did you learn all of this?  What percentage of MLB players care about personal finance ?
Jacob Turner
10:51
I was fortunate to sign for a lot of money at 18. My dad was a business owner, and my mom was CPA, so I numbers/finance were always a part of my life. I would say all care about it but some take more of an active role.
