He's pretty much a DH that can kind of fake it at 1B on occasion that is currently sporting a league-average batting line with two years and $22MM remaining on his deal beyond the 2017 season. There's no trade value there. Though I'm sure the Jays will poke around and see if anyone wants to take him (the answer will almost certainly be no)

When exactly is the trade deadline?  Time?
Steve Adams
3:53
July 31, 4pm ET, though there are always a few trades that are sneaked in under the wire and don't get reported until maybe 4:15-4:30... JA Happ was one of those a couple years back, which proved to be pretty significant given the renaissance he had in Pittsburgh

Likelihood I suit up with a different team by July 1st?
Steve Adams
3:54
Not very strong. 20-team no-trade provision, worst year of his career, few buyers aggressively looking at second base

Will Jerry make a splash? Who would he target?

The Mariners are sitting at .500 and have had some terrible luck in terms of pitching injuries -- I think Dipoto looks to augment both the rotation and bullpen, but I don't think he's going to go too crazy since the division is a total lost cause. The farm is weak in the first place, and further gutting it to take a one-game roll of the dice isn't the best way to go

Does anyone pick up Hellickson?
Steve Adams
3:56
His recent uptick in strikeouts is really encouraging. I'd wager the Phillies have to include some cash in the deal, but I don't see why they wouldn't if it meant getting some kind of half-decent prospect in return.

Darvish to the Rockies?
Steve Adams
3:58
Rox are 11 games back in the division, which basically means their hope of an NL West title is finished. If they make a rotation splash, it's not going to be for a rental. Much like the Mariners, if they go for a rental, it'll be a lower-profile one.

But, unlike the Mariners, i can actually see the Rockies making a move for a longer-term piece due to the deep farm they have and the young MLB core that's already in place. I don't necessarily find it to be likely, and there've been plenty of suggestions that bullpen is the bigger priority (including Bridich himself, today), but it's at least plausible that they look at arms that're controlled beyond 2017

Any chance the White Sox can get a top 20 prospect for Robertson?
Steve Adams
3:59
Like, Top 20 in all of baseball? No.

Jeff Todd and I were chatting about this last night... the Dodgers will make an upgrade anywhere they feel it deepens their team, even if the fit isn't readily apparent. They could go after a first baseman and play Bellinger in CF, they could pursue bullpen help despite already having a great relief corps, because there's value in improving over their seventh-best relief arm. Same with the rotation. With a lot of teams, it's easy to say "They need X," but the Dodgers have a stacked roster as it is, and this front office regime has shown on multiple times that it doesn't always pigeonhole itself into "We need X position, or we won't make a move."
Interesting: Jerry Crasnick just tweeted that the Tigers are "optimistic they're on the verge of a trade or two"
Could make for a fun evening.

Hellickson to the Twins? We're trotting Big Sexy out tonight, we need all the help we can get?
Steve Adams
4:02
If they're going for rentals they can do better than Hellickson, unless their thought process is simply to eat his entire contract and give up next to nothing in return. But, as I said before, if you're the Phillies -- with a huge payroll capacity but no long-term commitments -- why go that route? They don't NEED to shed the cash.

Will the Phillies trade Daniel Nava and/or Tommy Joseph?
Steve Adams
4:03
Nava probably. I don't see much of a market for Joseph
Matt Adams
4:03
Me to Red Sox for Jay Groome?
Steve Adams
4:03
Red Sox aren't giving up Groome for Adams. No way.

Chance Manny Machado is in an Orioles uniform in 2019?
Steve Adams
4:04
Slim. I mean they could pony up the massive contract demands, but he's going to bring in a haul on the open market so long as he doesn't see this season's fluky slump drag into 2018

Can Todd Frazier fetch a top 5-7 organizational prospect?
Steve Adams
4:05
That statement assumes all organization's top 5-7 prospects are created equal. They're not. Sure he could fetch that from a terrible farm. From the Yankees or Red Sox? I doubt it.

With Starling Marte returning tonight will the Pirates trade Cutch?
Steve Adams
4:06
I do tend to think the Bucs are going to trade Cutch, though Marte's return has little bearing on that. His value is at its apex, and the Pirates have to make these kinds of tough decisions all the time.

Ok, I have to wrap this up and take over the site from Jeff for the evening. Huge turnout this week -- thanks for all the questions (about double the number we usually get, which makes sense with double the participants, ha).

Jason's chatting tomorrow night at 6:30 CT, and Jeff on Thursday at 2pm CT. You can ask me follow-ups on Twitter: @Adams_Steve. Enjoy your week!
