I don't see why they wouldn't market Jim Johnson and based on how many reporters are talking him up lately, I assume that's what they're doing, ha. The Garcia return was underwhelming, but it was never realistic to expect much of a return for a guy that has topped 150 IP once since 2011 and has modest K/BB numbers at best with a $12MM salary.
4:12
They got a lotto ticket that was pretty well regarded a couple years ago and now isn't, and they saved almost $5MM -- that's not a bad outcome for them.

Can I get a top ten nats prospect and a throw in?
Steve Adams
4:14
Maybe their 9th or 10th best and a throw-in, sure, but again -- don't get too obsessed with the rankings. They're a good guideline, but they're in a constant state of flux. Baseball America is in the midst of re-releasing their organizational Top 10s, and I'd bet if you asked them a month after the Nats' list is released, the ordering of that list would already vary to some extent.

If I get rid of Seth smith and Wellington Castillo do I call up Sisco and Austin Hays?
Steve Adams
4:14
Sisco sure. Hays has 28 games in Double-A. Pump the brakes there.

After calling up Devers, what are odds Boston still trades for 3B/IF?
Steve Adams
4:15
Largely dependent on how Devers performs in these few games I think. As I said earlier I still think Lowrie, Nunez or someone of that ilk ends up in Boston

clevinger, nova, straily, wacha ranking for rest of season?
Steve Adams
4:16
Wacha, Nova, Straily, Clev

Devil's advocate deal: Moustakas to the Red Sox for whom? How do we do a deal that helps both teams?
Steve Adams
4:17
Can't see a scenario where the Royals move Moose before the deadline. The Sox will just get a different 3B option if/when they decide to make a move there
Who is...
4:18
...most likely to be closer for rest of season:  Barraclough, Hand, or Swarzak?
Steve Adams
4:18
Barraclough. I expect Hand and Swarzak to both be traded
Lance Lynn
4:18
Do you think I will command a Top 100 prospect?
Steve Adams
4:18
Nope
AJ
4:18
Does Jesus Sanchez and Lucius Fox get Brad Hand to Tampa?
Steve Adams
4:18
I do not believe it would, no
Lon
4:19
Other than relievers, will Orioles make any moves?
Steve Adams
4:19
Could see Seth Smith sent somewhere, but as stated before, it's a buyers' market for corner guys. Don't look for much of a return.
Russ Atkins
4:19
If you were me, would you blow it up and start over or trade some pieces and re-tool for a run next year?
Steve Adams
4:20
I don't think it has to be one or the other. Trade the rentals, listen on Happ, Stroman, JD, Osuna but only move them for enormous hauls that include some MLB-ready talent that can help in 2018... there's a way they can look to be respectable in 2018 without completely ignoring all trade offers.

Britton for Calhoun straight up. Deal?
Steve Adams
4:21
Think Dodgers would ask another piece but that gets the ball rolling probably.
Mike
4:21
Which player would command a higher return: Darvish or Gray?
Steve Adams
4:21
Gray
NY4L
4:22
Jorge Mateo or Miguel Andujar for Lance Lynn? Is that fair value or too much?
Steve Adams
4:22
More than I'd give for Lynn and I don't even love Mateo necessarily.
Johan Camargo
4:23
Should the Braves take advantage of my incredibly high BABIP performance while they can?
Steve Adams
4:23
I dont know what you're suggesting... are you saying sell high on him? Every other team around the league would be well aware of the same thing you just referenced.

Are Bueller and Verdugo untouchable, or would Archer's availability change that?
Steve Adams
4:24
Archer would absolutely get the Dodgers to loosen their stance there, but Archer won't be made available.

You meant the Orioles would ask for another piece, not the Dodgers.
Steve Adams
4:24
I did. Thank you editor!
Steve
4:24
What could the reds get from wash or dodgers for Iglesias if he were available
Steve Adams
4:25
Just kind of rummage through the top 3-4 prospects of each org, pick one, and then slap on a handful of other useful pieces to add to the deal. He's awesome with 4 years of control remaining... should bring back one top-shelf piece and a handful of other good parts at least.

I really don't understand why the Yankees haven't traded for Duda. Dude is running a .900 OPS as a lefty 1B and would be a massive upgrade to the guys they have now and shouldn't be expensive
Steve Adams
4:26
I'm a little surprised they haven't pulled the trigger on Duda or Alonso myself, to be honest

Is my farm system better than Atlanta's yet?
Steve Adams
4:27
Some will say yeah, some will disagree. It's a subjective thing. There are arguments that Atlanta's has more depth so it's better, some would prefer Chicago's top-heavy nature since it has so many more potential impact pieces up there. Both are among the 3-4 best in baseball... I don't think it much matters that one be deemed superior.
