Bean Ball
2:29
Should the batter get second instead of first for a flagrant bean ball as determined by ump?  That would be a deterrent?
Tim Dierkes
2:30
That's interesting.  It might be a good step in the right direction, and something easily tested to see if it helps.  Although pitchers generally pick spots where a beanball won't hurt their team too much.
Your Starting Lineup

I think you missed Jose Abreu at first.  Also you should be able to do better than Dyson in center?
Tim Dierkes

I dunno, Smoak and Abreu are roughly the same hitter.  I might look at Leonys Martin in CF but I don't think there's a star CF free agent this winter.

Arrieta isn't looking better than Darvish. He has gotten better results right now but Darvish stuff has been nasty

But, "stuff" doesn't win baseball games.  I completely thought Darvish > Arrieta at the time of the signings, but Arrieta has made 36 starts with a 3.75 ERA, Darvish has made 13 starts with a 5.31 ERA.  Cubs have Darvish through 2023 and the Phillies can move on from Arrieta after this season if they choose.  Theo pretty much has to take the L on this one unless Yu changes course dramatically.

How much would you like Oakland if they signed Dallas, Craig and Gio all at once? I think they'd be #2 behind Houston in the AL tbh

I think you are overestimating the impact those three pitchers can have.  It might turn an 82 win team into an 84 win team, whereas the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, Astros, Indians, and Twins are all better than that.
MLBPA

Since we represent the players, the majority / most powerful of whom are veterans, will we ever shift the economic power to younger players (at the cost of veterans) by expediting the path to free agency or introducing higher minimum salaries?

I think the MLBPA and its members realize that their only real path is pushing some of the wealth toward younger players, and for the greater good they will attempt to do that instead of trying to create something that forces teams to spend on age 30+ free agents when teams have already decided not to.  However, the rash of extensions suggests that the players do not have the fortitude to band together and truly threaten a strike, which is their only real leverage.
Alright on that note, I've got to wrap it up.  Thanks for joining me.
