A reference to Giants closer Will Smith.  A rental reliever netting a prospect of the caliber of, say, the Rays' Matthew Liberatore - that's plausible to me.
Rangers

I'm very happy the Rangers are doing well and I'm sure as a player you'd want management to show some faith and bring in some reinforcements, but I would really hate to see a rebuilding farm again depleted.  What are your thoughts on a team in the Rangers situation?

My thought is that if you look at the prospects actually traded, they are usually grade 50 or below and many don't amount to anything.  Maybe you make Hans Crouse off-limits, but there are plenty of guys you can move to get real upgrades without killing the rebuild effort.  Wouldn't it be better for the rebuild effort to just be over now?

How can the giants get rid of Samarzja and Longoria?
Tim Dierkes

I guess by attaching one of them to MadBum/Smith, still eating a good chunk of money, and accepting weak prospects back, the Giants could rid themselves of the $24MM owed to Samardzija or the $63MM owed to Longoria.  Unloading Longoria would require some seriously aggressive work by the Giants, as he's a 33-year-old replacement player.  If not for his contract, which runs through 2022, he'd be a bench player making a few million a year.

Who do you see the Braves pursuing as a good late inning reliever?
Tim Dierkes

The usual suspects - Ken Giles, Will Smith, Shane Greene (only two syllables allowed per reliever) are in play for the Braves and many teams.
3:31
There's at least nine teams that should be in sell mode right now, though, so the list of options runs deep.

Dahl over Soto for ASG?  Idk about that one.   Thoughts?
Tim Dierkes

I don't think Soto would be the guy for me.  Muncy based on merit, Tatis for excitement, Renfroe for huge power, Bryce Harper for name recognition, etc.

Teams and FO's are smarter now with  the advanced analytics. Market correction

That's fair, broken might not be the right word.  Because I don't think teams will return to the way free agency was or that some kind of CBA stipulation could force them to.  So for the players the challenge is to come up with a way to redistribute the money and make sure their share of the pie is appropriate.
That's it for me today everyone, thanks for chatting!
