Hellooooo, folks! Heavy draft season, and queue reflects it. Will try to keep answers short so I can get to as many as possible. Also will prioritize those Qs following the guidelines above. Let's rock!

5x5 NL-only. Please rank the following: Lawlar, Gorman, Rengifo, Vientos, Mauricio.
Brent Hershey
12:03
If going for upside but with risk, I like this order, though might slightly prefer Gorman to Lawlar. If you're more a "floor" player, put Rengifo first. Like the two skilled Mets, but PT is an important issue.

Hi! 12-tm, H2H, category w OBP, 9 hitters (3 OF), 6 pitchers, 6 bench, daily moves, auction draft. From same tier of floor, OF3 types, how would you rank Nimmo, Happ and Reynolds? And why? Anyone else similar that you like better? Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:05
Happ 1st for sure; so steady. Reynolds then slightly over Nimmo, who has lost some OBP luster

How do $ values compare in a 5x5 9-team -only league vs. a standard 12-team -only league? I'd have thought: a) that top players would go up slightly; b) mid-tier would go down a couple of dollars; c) $4-$5 players would go to $1; and d) the end-gamers would drop to zero and no longer be auction-worthy.  But using the Custom Draft Guide, that does not appear to be the case. Is there a good rule of thumb to use?
Brent Hershey
12:07
I would agree with you in principle. Also knowing your league (if there's a history there) is so important. Don't have time to dig in now, but I'd be curious to know what the CDG is spitting out. Remember - it's a "guide" :-)

Thoughts on Coby Mayo? He's having a great spring and should be fill-in until Westburg returns. Is this a late-round breakout?
Brent Hershey
12:09
Given his pedigree, I think it's possible. Sw/miss will limit the BA (and ultimate upside), but could be a power boon. Fact that the Westburg injury sounds ominous means Mayo could get a long leash.

AL only, standard rotis with keepers. Have plenty of saves going into the auction. Of these three non closers, who do you like in terms of talent/value/profit? Whitlock, Ferrer, Cleavinger. Thanks as always!
Brent Hershey
12:10
Whitlock, pretty easily. History of great ratios; good team context ups possibility of vulture wins. Cleavinger next.

Hi Brent- Thx as always. As a long time subscriber, I’ve learned not to be fooled by spring numbers, but Matt McLain sure looks good.  Is he back to the $20 player he was projected to be in 2024?
Brent Hershey
12:12
Our coverboy today is starting to convince me. Positives are: he's done it before; his starting spot wasn't secure when camp opened. Power-speed combo always attractive. $20 might be pushing it, but I give this one a bit more credence than usual.

I have Ben Joyce for $1 (AL 5x5) in the last year of his contract (our league allows us to keep players for up to 3 years). Worthy of a roster spot or kick him to the curb?
Brent Hershey
12:13
Kick; draft him back at buck if you really like him long-term—assuming that re-sets his contract, which is even better if he takes that job eventually.

Brent, lets play if not who? if not india who? if not frazier who? if not Allen (cle) who? if not valera who? if not oviedo who?

Gonna treat this as starting jobs ...
  1. Massey?
  2. Grissom
  3. Messick or Cantillo (depending who you have in there already)
  4. Kayfus
  5. Early until Sandoval is ready

Hi Brent,                                    Could use your help deciding what three keepers I should use this year for my 12-team 6x6 mixed rotisserie team from:           Roman Anthony $10, Vinny Pasquantino $20, James Wood $15, Daylen Lile $10, Nolan McLean $10, Jordan Lawler $10, Kyle Bradish $10, Trey Yesavage $10 or Dylan Crews?     Any of them a close runner-up?  Would you consider the injured Spencer Schwellenbach at $15 or is he too risky?                      Thanks, as always.
Brent Hershey
12:19
Keep Anthony, Bradish and VinnyP.  Next would probably be Yesavage or taking a flyer on Lawlar

Would toss Scwhelly back at that price

Hi Brent! Moving day for me but time for a couple of quick queries: I think Ben brown is a great sneaky sleeper pick - may be long relief to start, but I bet he ends up being a starter and throwing some significantly important innings. Your thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:20
First, lift with your legs, not your back :-)

Brown is a great call, yes. New sinker seems to be working. 4seamer / curve already. Super 6th starter type.

more! NL 10 team 5x5   who wins the first base job in Colorado and has A Ortiz got any shot and win the first base job in Washington?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Extra one just bc of your hectic day ... my guess would be Rumfield in COL, and yes interested in Ortiz, though they may well give Chaparro first shot at it. But Ortiz could sneak into that mix a few months in.

18 team BL Scoresheet League.  Is the knock on Chandler Simpson, just the lack of thump and maybe weak defense?  All the rating services seem down on him.  But his OBP looks pretty good.  Is he Luis Arraez with wheels?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Not nearly the hitter Arraez is. That 2.06 defense rating is nothing special. Has some OK walk rates in the minors, but package is light overall and not clear how TAM is going to use him. Hamstring issues in spring. I'm passing.

NL only, 8 teams, keeper league, roto points, how would you rate the following closers available: Devin Williams, Raisel Iglesias Johan Doran, and Pete Fairbanks. And one NL Closer Sleeper pick, thank you.
Brent Hershey
12:28
Duran, DevW, Fairbanks, Iglesias. Hunter Harvey in CHC or Cole Henry in WAS

How do you see the PT shaking out in the SEA OF this year? Will anyone get over 500 PAs?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Well, Julio and Arozarena for sure. But no, likely a Robles / Canzone / Raley mix doesn't result in any one of those three with that amount.

12:33
Do you use Baseball Savant to look for potential breakouts or as a second check when researching?
Brent Hershey
12:33
Part of the picture for sure; a very good balance to our 'traditional' BHQ metrics. Of course our QBaB metric captures a good bit of that hitter-side data, and pitchers can change so quickly (mechanics or arsenal tweak, for two examples) that sometimes the by-pitch stuff on Savant is not super actionable. But it's def part of the modern analysis game.

5x5 NL only, please rank the following; Morel, Marsh, McCarthy, Benge, Waldschmidt

AL only, obp league.  I am looking for targets in the "$10-15" range with power/speed (aren't we all?).  (I have an obp foundation established.)  My inital glance shows:  CRafealla, DBeavers, CMullins, JSanchez, ZCole... Will you rank these?  And suggest 1-2 others not on this list?
Brent Hershey
12:35
Don't have time for suggestions, sorry. But rank your list (given OBP foundation; that's helpful) as ... well, just flip Mullins and Sanchez. Cole has loud skills, but not yet convinced he'll make enough contact.

Top of the morning! Looking for that guy listed maybe as 4th OF that can surprise and grab opportunity once it arrives. I like DeLuca, Denzel Clarke, Brooks Baldwin, Jorge Mateo ( qualifies as OF). Is there any of these you would want in your final OF spot?
Brent Hershey
12:37
Clarke for sure. Pwr/Spd tools galore, and otherwordly defense will give him plenty of PT (and time to figure it out). DeLuca would be my #2
