Happy Monday, chatters! Great week to hit all these questions ... and the queue is packed already. Will do what I can to get through em; have several ready to go. Let's chat!

Are Carson Benge and Chase DeLauter rosterable in a 5x5, 12 team mixed?
Brent Hershey
12:00
I consider both of these on the bubble in 12s. Like Benge a bit better because of the broader skillset (power and speed) and perhaps a bit clearer path to playing time. In either case, if you roster watch them closely early on and be ready to move on in a 12 if it’s a slow start.

12 team OBP redraft league. Rank these 3. Marcell Ozuna Evan Carter Wilyer Abreu. Also is Oneil Cruz for real?
Brent Hershey
12:02
Abreu (feel like breakout is coming) Ozuna, Carter

I'm not buying it for Cruz right now ... though OBP format helps a little.

Seeing a lot of hype about Liberatore's spring stuff. Breakout looming?
Brent Hershey
12:02
Yes, changes Liberatore has made (rubber position, pitch mix) have created huge dividends here in spring. MLB will always the be test. The downside is that in some drafts, he’s been a huge riser as the spring has gone on. Might be getting close to the spot where his price is not worth it. But I’m interested for sure.

Hi Brent, about Giolito: besides his agent asking for too much $$$, why he is not signed yet? BHQ does not have an estimation about its 2026 performance on its page? Can you guesstimate? Thank you for taking my question
Brent Hershey
12:04
No idea why he's still out there ... but almost any explanation is not what I'd want to hear (too much $; medicals that back teams off; whatever. And those are just speculations). He's off my radar for sure until we get more info.

12:04
In a 15 team mixed point league, are TJ Rumfield or Brandon Lockridge worth a bench spot to see if they do anything?
Brent Hershey
12:04
At this point Rumfield seems suited to play more than Lockridge, and would think his chance of helping you is higher. Yes, good 15-tm bench stash.

Thanks for the chat and for taking my question. I’m in a shallow (9 team) 5x5 league where can keep 7 players from last year. My top keepers are Roman Anthony, Wilyer Abreu, Jarren Duran, Ketel Marte, Paul Skenes and Jesus Luzardo. For my last keeper I’m down to Andres Munoz or Emmet Sheehan. Which one do you think I keep?
Brent Hershey
12:06
I'd probably go saves with Muñoz in a shallow league like that. This Sheehan flip-flop over the past 24 hours is ... curious. (Yesterday, news was he might be piggy-backed; today, he's def a regular starter.)

12:06
How good can McGonigle be this year? Does he have enough power/speed to be impactful in 5x5 right now?
Brent Hershey
12:06
McGonigle fan here, especially after I saw him in the AFL. “Impactful” depends some on league size, etc. His skill set is well rounded … I like him to hit for decent BA, have solid power and speed numbers. Would feel like he’s a bit more of a floor than ceiling player for 2026 — which is big, because we rarely say that about rookies (solid floor).

Please rank the following bats (12 team mixed roto) - J Polanco, A Vaughn, M Ozuna, C Benge, M Moniak, C Smith, M Wallner, O Cassie, J Soler, J Walker, J McCarthy
Brent Hershey
12:08
Too many to rank in one shot, but like Polanco, McCarthy, Wallner, Ozuna and then Benge/Smith/Cassie the best

All draft season I’ve watched Bubba Chandler get drafted as an SP3/4, often going at a premium price. Obviously the raw stuff is enticing, but is he being overdrafted?
Brent Hershey
12:11
Perhaps ... would have liked to see a better spring statline. That's not everything, but for young players or those fighting for a job, it def matters. March walks are a big concern, but as you say, stuff is there. Rookie SP often struggle upon first MLB exposure, which is so easy to forget (I do it all the time).

12 team redraft league standard categories. Rate these pitchers Luis Gil Chad Patrick Ryan Weathers. Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:11
Weathers, Patrick, Gil. Patrick the least risk for me, but like Weathers’ upside better (though of course a health risk). Gil … I kinda need to see it again, coming off injury and beating his peripherals in 2024.

AL only, standard rotis with keepers. Looking for SP1/2. Can’t afford Skubal. Woo, Gilbert, Eovaldi, Kirby, Gray, Cease available. Please rank, and thanks as always.
Brent Hershey
12:14
Woo, Gilbert, Kirby, Cease, Gray, Eovaldi. I like to get ratio anchors, thus the first three. I worry about Eovaldi's health more than others, but if he pitches, could be a boon.

Happy Monday, Brent.
  1. What are your thoughts on Connelly Early? Will he make the big league team? And if so, can he grab a rotation spot?
  2. Do you like Moniak and/or J. Crawford for bench roles in a mixed 12-team roto league where SB are less important? Can these guys be viable in shallow leagues?
Brent Hershey
12:18
  1. Not counting on him making the rotation, but a premium stash if you can afford
  2. If SBs devalued, then probably saying yes Moniak and more lukewarm to Crawford (assuming Justin, not JP). In a 'regular' 12-teamer, feel like Crawford's SB potential is high enough to warrant a bench spot.

AL only, available in player pool.  Jacob Lopez or Mick Abel?  I am a big A's fan but that park scares the bejeezus out of me when considering A's pitchers.
Brent Hershey
12:19
Abel, slightly. Lopez's deception helps mitigate the park a bit, however.

How does the LAA bullpen play out? Any faith in Yates or Romano?
Brent Hershey
12:20
Yates at the moment for me. Romano has done it in spring, but my gut says they go with Kirby first.

Just finished an auction ($260/team) for my 12-team, NL-only, 5x5 dynasty league yesterday and picked up Hunter Greene ($7) and Spencer Schwellenbach ($4) to pair with C. Sanchez ($12), M. King ($16), B. Snell ($15), and M. Meyer ($8). This is the highest risk rotation I’ve ever had—is it a crazy strategy? Should I have drafted Neal ElAttrache on my reserve roster?
Brent Hershey
12:21
For a dynasty - where I assume you're holding a Greene/SS through any TJS - think it makes sense. Gotta grab talent where you can. Probably limits you some this year, though.
Don
12:23
In Mixed-league auctions, does it make sense to cluster players on a certain team? Clearly, Dodger hitters make sense (cost prohibitive) but are there other teams this season where that would be a solid play due to heavy run scoring; where you could have the guy scoring the run and the guy driving him in?
Brent Hershey
12:23
Possibly ... but I wouldn't use that as anything more than a tiebreaker. I'm looking more at individual talent as well as team context, so I'm always interested in highly-skilled Dodgers. If I happen to get a "stack," then fine. But not a strategy I'm 'chasing', per se.
Tony
12:25
How relevant can Justin Crawford be in mixed 12 teamers?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Additional thoughts above, but yes, relevant b/c of the SB potential and bat/acumen to get on base. Will be batting 9th in front of Turner/Scharber/Harper, too.
Paulie
12:25
in a 5x5 roto format who ya got; C DeLauter or D Lile?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Lile.
Dan
12:28
Good day, Brent!  Maybe this is better suited for Doug Dennis but with Dollander being moved to the bullpen, would he be in the closer conversation? More importantly, should I care?
