Doubt it. I think it's more of a protect a young arm thing, taking it slow w innings. He is super talented as a SP, has the arsenal to get in that role ... but I feel like this is the new FO just taking it slow with him. My prediction would be they get him in some 3-inning stints in the majors to start, maybe slowly build him up, and by June or July he's a full member of the rotation with 130-140 IP upon season's end. Also remember had a minor arm issue end of last year; that could be playing in also. So no, don't think he's a Sv candidate. Fair question, tho

Hey Brent, How would you rank these three players in a Dynasty League? Josh Jung, Brady House, Gorman. Thank You
Brent Hershey
12:30
The order you have em. Mayyyybe Gorman is more valuable if he can get the BA to 230-240 (I expect 25+ HR at that point). House a great spring so far; need to see it in MLB. But I like Jung the best -- though sketchy health history of course.

Which combo do you prefer (as I head into my keeper auction and speculate potential buys):  Jose Ramirez and Xander Bogaerts or Sal Stewart and Trea Turner?  Sal is 3B eligible in this format
Brent Hershey
12:34
Probably Sal/Trea; esp given Sal's potential as a keeper

crystal ball please. caballero ABs this year and steals. does he stay at short after volpe return? or super utility? thank you
Brent Hershey
12:35
408 / 52 is what our projections have. He does not stay at short, but plays similar super-UT role as las year after Volpe returns.

What are your thoughts on Cam Smith, Evan Carter, and Nootbaar? Which one would you go with this year? What about long-term? I think we pretty much know what to expect from a healthy Nootbaar. I don't know what Cam's Smith long-term outlook really is. Carter has obvious talent, but he's already had significant back issues.
Brent Hershey
12:38
Cam, easily, in both cases. Biggest talent; think he was rushed a bit last year but really held his own given lack of MiLB AB. Some intangibles (mental plate approach, etc) that I like. Not 100% sure this is the year he takes that next step, but I'll bet he's an OF and middle-of-the-lineup staple in a few seasons, right when he hits his physical prime.

Happy First week of 2026 season my friend. Three questions: Start Willi Castro at MIA or Rengifo home this week - or both if Pena doesn’t play for HOU? And does Emmanuel Rodriguez become OBP Stud OF for MIN this year? And does McGonigle head back to AAA? Thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:39
Yes! Lineup Qs! I'd go Castro; would not have a problem with both if Peña is a question mark.
EmmRod - yes, but it's probably not until midseason.
No, I think McG stays up all year and is in the ROY convo. He's ready, DET has a spot, and they are all-in w/ Skubal's last stand.

16 team 5x5. OPS instead of BA. 2 questions: 1). Do you see upside with V Scott or J McCarthy? & 2). Which long relievers do you see making the starting rotation with upside? Examples off the top of my head include I Seymour, B Brown, or T Wells????
Brent Hershey
12:42
1) Yes to both, but prefer McC at this point
2) Not T Wells ... in time (not to start the season)... Brown, Seymour, Fuentes in ATL all come to mind.

NL-only, 12-team dynasty. Mark Vientos owner debating his keeper status, even at .50 (last year of contract). Do I let his brutal spring outweight his power chops and toss him back?Feels like Mets can easily move off of him, especially with sub-par D everywhere he plays.
Brent Hershey
12:42
I'd toss back. Should be cheap to reacquire if need be.

Hi Brent,          Let the Games Begin!                                            Trying to prepare for my 6X6 Mixed Rotisserie $260 Draft 14-teams.  Just a few questions that I would appreciate your opinion:                                                                                         1) If I was going to take one for my corner infield position, would you choose Murakami or Okamota?   They seem alarmingly similar in terms of value and risk.                               2) At a similar $10 cost, how would you rate the order for Perdomo, Neto, Wilson?  Is Turang above those choices?        3) What order would you place Eovaldi, Eury Perez and Pepiot?  Are they all worth targeting?                                          4) Lastly, Is Sal Stewart at $10 as good of a bet as Pasquantino at $20, or is he a little risky?                                    I will try to make my posts a little shorter in the future because of all of the volume you handle.                 Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:46
1) Okamoto on relative safety
2) Neto, Perdomo <fair gap> Wilson. Would slot Turnag very close to Perdomo
3) Eury/Pepiot/Eovaldi. Yes, all worth targeting ... have some concerns on Eovaldi's health. But I could be wrong there.
4) Rookies always risky ... but $10 is decent price for Stewart. Of course, Pasq at $20 is pretty fine, too. I'd probably lean Vinnie given the track record if it's either/or.  Good luck!

How do you see the Padres 1B/DH situation shaking out?  Between Castellanos, Sheets, Andujar and France, that's not a lot of ABs to go around...
Brent Hershey
12:47
Casty and Sheets make a nice platoon; that's about all I have at the moment. Agree that not many AB for all.

Hi! Just had our 12-tm, H2H, category auction draft, Saturday! My pre-draft plan was thrown for a loop when a very hot room over-priced all the top stud batters ($58 Tatis, $50 Tucker, $40 Gunnar). I had Ohtani, but best bats I could draft were mid-tier Arozarena, Nimmo, Teoscar types! I pivoted to SPs and grabbed Sale, McLean, Bradish, Imai, Rasmussen, and Horton! Am I in trouble?
Brent Hershey
12:48
SP looks pretty good. In a 12-tm, should have free agent options. Work it on the hitter side, and you should be fine. Good luck!

First FAAB coming up on Sunday 3/29.  11-team nl-only standard 5x5 roto league.  League allows 4 bench spots.  Drafted cheap minor league stashes in J. Baez, R. Waldschmidt along with cheap Nootbaar.  Looking to fill some holes after the auction draft.  Rank Benson, Velasquez, Gurriel, Conine, Sosa, Sanoja, Church, Santana, Freeland, Jerar Encarnacion for possible picks to fill UT or OF spots.  HR/RBI is probably most pressing need.  Want to protect AVG as much as possible.
Brent Hershey
12:49
Gurriel if you can wait a bit, Conine, Encarnacion if he makes the team, Freeland are who I like best out of this list.

16 team mixed 3 yr keeper auction roto 5x5 (but only players from 24 MLB teams eligible).  I have both McGonigle and Benge on Farm as $5 rookies and will have to add 1 to keeper list before auction and make the other available to auction.  Which will have the greater value in 2027?  I'm leaning McGonigle.
Brent Hershey
12:50
Yes, I'd keep McGonigle.

I am thinking Wrobleski is going to have a pretty good impact as a fantasy pitcher for most of this year.  Wishcasting?
Brent Hershey
12:51
No; some potential there. Dodgers usage will prob be a bit frustrating if you set lineups weekly. But if it's daily, just pay attention and get him in when you can (assuming things are going OK for him in general).

Hi Brent, 10 team AL 4x4. Please pick three keepers from the following. Soderstrom 14, Varsho 4, Schlittler 10, Ragans 17; Kirby 17 and Gilbert 23. Thanks for the chat!
Brent Hershey
12:53
Varsho (easy #1 b/c of price) .. than Kirby, Schlittler. Gilbert could also be an option.

Completed my 13 team mixed league 5x5 draft and came out a little light on pitching. Worth dropping a $1 Norby for an $8 Early, Liberatore, or Detmers? If so, which one? Thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:54
Liberatore, yes. Love Early, but not convinced yet of his MLB role (think he prob gets sent out to start?)

12:54
Which prospect do you think will have a bigger impact this season: Harry Ford or Joshua Baez? Which of those two is the better long-term prospect?
Brent Hershey
12:54
Ford - this year; Baez long term

12:57
If McGonigle does stay up and solely has SS eligibility (right?) and have I Pena and Adames and Renifigo and Castro and Ozuna for 2B SS MI and UT Who do I start who do I trade or keep in reserves how would you play it my friend in this 16 team mixed  5x5 keeper with OBP?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Keep Castro b/c of the in-season eligibility he'll give. Would probably not need Ozuna in that case. Shop Pena or Adames; move the one with a better return. Good question tho; complicated situation.

Which teams do you expect to run more this year.  Looking for SB’s
Brent Hershey
12:58
Look at spring training SB attempts for teams. A week ago or so, I think it was COL and MIL with a bunch already?

NL only, saves/holds.  Loasiga will be immediately relevant with some leverage to get holds?
