Chatters! What a great week to come ... I've got a few drafts left, and then games a-comin'! Queue is full; let's hop on and I'll get to as many as I can.

Morning Brent, Thanks for helping us. Still in oh Hendriks ending up the closer in Boston. Can you give me some hope please?
Brent Hershey
12:01
Boy, not sure. History is on your side, but the performance sure isn't. Think you probably have to hang on for a bit assuming you have him rostered but keep close tabs.

Good morning Brent! Thanks to you and Ray for these chats, they are always insightful and helpful!

In a 12-team H2H points league and I have pick 12. Two questions if you don’t mind.

1.     What two (2) players from this pool of five do you like at picks 12 & 13?
Julio Rodriguez, Yordan Alvarez, Mookie Betts, Lindor, F Freeman

2.     How would you rank in order the next tier of top closers after Clase? Points are heavily weighted towards Saves
E Diaz, R Iglesias, Duran, D Williams?
Brent Hershey
12:03
  1. The Dodgers out for me given their injuries and your other choices. I'd rank the other trio J-Rod, Lindor, Yordan
  2. DevW / Diaz / Iglesias / Duran -- though the differences here are miniscule. Any of these could lead the league in saves, really.

Where would Zebby Matthews and Joey Cantillo rank in the bbhq top 100?
Brent Hershey
12:03
Ballparking it ... Zebby probably in the top 50; Cantillo down in the 90s.

12:04
Zebby Matthews v. DFesta?
Brent Hershey
12:04
Festa, slightly. Feel the stuff and Ks are going to be better

12 team mixed h2h cats; which late round bat are rostering; Buxton, Nolan Jones, Wallner, Conforto, Vaughn, Soderstrom. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:05
Buxton; ride him as long as he stays on the field. Probably Wallner next

AL-only 12-teamer OBP, please rank these in tiers for 2025 redraft value: Walker, Bregman, Bellinger, Casas, Paredes, Burger, Pasquantino, Cam Smith, Aranda, Yandy Diaz, Morel. Thanks! P.S. The BBHQ outreach is a gem of the platform - e.g. you and others chatting, Alex drafting in the subscriber leagues, FPAZ in person networking. It's hard, analog work, difficult to scale, but so appreciated and valuable.
Brent Hershey
12:10
T1: Walker / Bellinger / Bregman / Burger
T2: Casas / VinnieP
T3: Yandy / Aranda / Morel (aka Rays tier)

Cam Smith has T1 tools, but probably should be in T3, just b/c of the rookie bust potential. IE, for re-draft, MLB site-unseen, gotta take risk into account.

And ... you are a gem of a subscriber. Thank you.

I’m not sure I even need to describe the league (10 team 5x5 OBP Dynasty) but what is the deal with Jordan Walker? (Imagine a Jerry Seinfeld voice). You’re always thinking sunk cost but this feels like it’s getting worse. Time to walk away?
Brent Hershey
12:10
Team-dependent. If you're in the race this year, then yeah, would def prefer something more stable in a 10-teamer. If you're in a known rebuilt for 2026+, then can still see the point of carrying him this year, where he'll (supposedly) get more consistent MLB AB, then re-evaluate.

12:12
How confident are we that Kyle Tucker is the safe, consistent producer we’ve seen in the past? He’s had himself a slow spring after an injury that kept dragging last year.
Brent Hershey
12:12
Very confident. As crazy as that injury journey was last season, it would be even more out there if that was still affecting him 9-10 months later. Established veteran producers have down springs all the time. Odds say he'll be ready for the bell.

Morning I am looking for possible closers in the AL only, anybody you can suggest ,need some deep names as I wont  a lot of money to spend. Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:13
Slaten, Whitlock (BOS); Garcia (TEX); Brieske (DET)

12:14
Which two late round SP are most interesting to you in a 5x5 roto (QS league). M Kelly; Sugano; Warren; Povich; Paddack; Boyd; Soriano; AJ SS.
Brent Hershey
12:14
Paddack and AJ SS

15T 4x4, 10 P rostered, 1,100 IP minimum. Heavy hitting, but threw dice on pitchers. To start season have Strider and McClanahan on IL. Thought best to grab possible closers at start of season and then read the tea leaves. Expect to stream SP to get to IP bogey. As we start season MCClanahan and Strider will be IL. I have Duran, Puk, Hendriks, Slaton, Vodrik, Barlow of Reds, Alvarado in late innings, have Clay Homes, Hunter Brown, Schwellenbach currently as Starters, so if- when Strider- McC get back… so that’s the roster, it’s like playing roulette and picking several #’s on one spin.. Hicks of SFG is there, Morton, L. Ortiz of Cleveland, lively as well. Is there a RP to drop to pick up SP?
Brent Hershey
12:17
Even though he's been amazing this spring, feel like Alvarado has to get past Kerkering and Romano for saves in PHI if everything holds. Obv if someone else gets announced for the job in COL or BOS, any of those three could be drops. Like Ortiz best of the SP pickups.

I traded Carlos Rodon for Brandon Pfaadt in the hopes of getting similar rate stats with less injury risk, but I’m having trader’s remorse after seeing Pfaadt give up yet another homer to a left-handed batter yesterday. Any reasons for optimism that Pfaadt can fix his troubles with left-handed hitters?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Will continue to walk that tightrope for now ... but other aspects point to a step up (underlying peripherals from last year). It's a fair trade right now, and likely long-term (if it's keeper lg) will work out better for you.
Will
12:20
How long of a leash would you give kristian campbell in shallow mixed roto leagues?
Brent Hershey
12:20
Probably about the same as BOS will. If he struggles mightily, they'll get him back to AAA, and that will likely be your sign to move on, too. Hope it doesn't happen!

12:21
Any update on Moodie Betts’ status since missing the Japan Series for “flu-like” symptoms?
Brent Hershey
12:21
Word yesterday was not good ... scratched again, lost a bunch of weight, has (is?) having trouble keeping food down. Think it's becoming concerning.

12:23
Ty France or J Aranda for Dh spot in 15 teamer...thank you
Brent Hershey
12:23
Was faced with a choice like this in a draft last night; went Aranda. Like him, but wondering if I made the right one. Have to see, but France's PT may be more secure. New park fits Aranda, though.
Joe
12:24
Thanks for taking my question. All things being equal, please rank Aranda TB, Kepler Phi, Busch CHC, O’Neill BAL, P.Smith ARI. Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:24
Kepler, Busch, O'Neill, Aranda, Smith. That's more or less in order of projected AB in my view.
Seth
12:25
What do you expect for Jackson Holliday this season? He's having a big spring.
Brent Hershey
12:25
Believe in the pedigree. Think steals come before power; will get on base and think a nice step forward could be in store after that awful debut.
Johnny
12:26
Who closes for TEX?
Brent Hershey
12:26
Right now, Martin — until/if Bochy tells us differently.
Jeb
12:28
Chances Jazz approaches his UP in the forecaster and how are you feeling about his health headed into the season?
Brent Hershey
12:28
Depends on his health. I'm feeling better than other years — the fact that he got through 2024 mostly unscathed. Love the park, team context, fantasy utility (should have 3-pos eligibility). Also think the .250 BA makes him a tough choice in early r2 in redraft settings.

Will Devers produce as usual or should we expect some more than normal regression resulting from the whole 2B/3B fiasco?
