Hi Brent.  Thoughts on O. Cruz in a 12 team, mixed roto league as a keeper?
Brent Hershey

All depends on when you have to make that call. Still probably a bit fringy in a 12-tmer even if he makes the MLB club. No-brainer keep if you can do that on some sort of minors/reserve list.
Brent Hershey

whew ... just about 1p already. Will try to fire through as many of the rest as I can ...

Love these chats. Great HQ benefit!

I've followed Mitch Keller's progress closely over the years, and he's been one of those prospects that went from hidden gold in the minors to absolute dogcrap in the majors. Now his spring velocity is up an incredible amount -- 3.5mph on his fastball! -- and I'm having a hard time letting bygones be bygones. What's next for him?
Brent Hershey

Need to see it work against MLB lineups

are you expecting BA, Px, or SBs to progress with Gleyber?
Brent Hershey
1:00
yes, counting on some mild bounceback

12-team H2H redraft points league. I’m sitting 10/12 in the draft. Targeting Tucker at 10 and Devers on the way back. Assuming Devers is gone would you go albies or Machado based on how thin 3B is this year
Brent Hershey
1:01
Albies, only partially b/c SB pad allows you flexibility later

What's your take on Shane Baz for this year?
Brent Hershey
1:03
injury scares me a bit, but he was not going to be a high-volume guy anyway. 120 innings of 2021-level Kopech
Jack

Have Jorge Mateo at $2 and am excited about keeping him (OF eligibility) as it seems likely he'll get SS and maybe 3B eligibility quickly (5 games), especially for SBs and flexibility. Agree? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
1:03
Yes. Love this for both SB and flexibility reasons.

Hey Brent - Thanks for making Monday a little less crappy! Theme today seems to be when prospects will hit the show.  I think Miami will have a sneaky good pitching staff this year as Rogers and Alcantra are solid, Lopes and Hernandez seem healthy, and Luzardo looks like a break-out candidate.  So barring injuries, what does this mean for Cabrera and Sixto (if he ever gets healthy)?  Thx
Brent Hershey
1:05
I'm off Sixto for sure; two of Luz/ Hernand/ Cabrera will fill that end. Lopez injury history says they'll need all three, EdCab's late start means he's prob odd man out to start

Any hope for a Joe Adell breakout?
Brent Hershey
1:05
Yes; ceiling a bit lower than a couple years ago, but good 2H and great spring bode well methinks.

Thoughts on Ryan McMahon? They should st least play him every day since they paid him right?
Brent Hershey
1:06
They should. But it's the Rockies. Tho counting on every day AB
Sean

Kyle Tucker for $39 or Buxton for $26. H2H 5X5
Brent Hershey
1:06
Buxton. Save you cash

What are your end game relief pitchers (SVs =2 and Holds =1 Pt)? Who do you think wins the SEA 5th SP (Kirby, Brash or someone else)? Do you think either is worth a reserve pick and will provide value this year in a keeper league?
Brent Hershey
1:07
Seems like Brash has inside track; both SP would be solid reserve picks

Inflation in my AL-only 12 team 5X5 league is generally around 30% prior to the commencement of the auction (minimum 7, max of 15 keepers allowed).  Any implementable advice as to how to decide when in the auction to pay the inflation-adjusted price ? How long should I wait? Or “damn the inflation, full speed ahead” from the start, figuring inflation will adjust in the endgame when bargains will abound in OFs and relievers?
Brent Hershey
1:09
Know you league and how it goes. Inflation means you need pay the price, right? Can get caught w/ extra $ at the end if you don't.

Best current save speculation—Bender, A. Warren, Sewald, Giles?
Brent Hershey
1:09
Bender; think it's less likely FLA will be fluid. Best reliever in this group? Sewald; no doubt.

Brent, I’m in a 17 team 5x5 mixed league and debating keeping Hoskins @ $20 given his likely spot in that lineup. What are your thoughts on him this year? Can he finally stay healthy?
Brent Hershey
1:11
Our projections loved him before we knew about the lineup upgrades. Big fan, but as you say health will be the key. 17 teams is ... interesting, but still seems like $20 is a good keeper price

In an auction AL-only 12 team keeper league, buy on the basis of potential profit, given the current bid regardless of one’s keepers and their positions, hoping to trade later to get the appropriate category balance, or focus on the categories where keepers are deficient, paying less heed to profit potential of player being auctioned off?
Brent Hershey
1:12
If you can trade, take advantage of that -- less need to come out of draft w/ balance
Bill

In traditional 12-team, 5X5 AL-only keeper league, what would you estimate to be the prevailing IP minimum req?
Brent Hershey
1:12
900 or 1000
Bill
1:13
How much to consider injury risk in auction bidding for a 12-team AL-only traditional Rotisserie style league?
Brent Hershey
1:13
Has to be part of the calculation; give yourself some sort of limit, though know that non-risk players get injured every year. Enjoy!
