Happy May Day, everyone! Time to start taking our standings seriously, right? Lots of good questions in the queue, lets get going....

11 team NL only roto keeper. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll need to waive one or two of the following pitchers: Brandon Pfaadt, Tyler Kinley, Bradgley Rodriguez, Caleb Killian, Antonio Senzatela. Who would you waive? Who would you definitely keep?
Ray Murphy
12:08
I tend to think these kinds of things resolve themselves at the time you actually need to make the decision. RPs are so volatile, just make sure not to get sucked in by the ERAs... Senzatela's skills are a ton better than Kinley or Rodriguez, for instance.

All that said, I'm discouraged with Pfaadt and would be happy to get off that train if the opportunity presents itself.

16 Team, 5x5, mixed league. 2 questions: 1). Do you see any upside in C Cavalli, J Scholtens and/or T Sugano? 2). Do you see T White getting the call before R Snelling or B Garrett? Thanks. Peter
Ray Murphy
12:10
Cavalli... for sure. I was worried early on that he wasn't being efficient and was going to be pitch count limited, but the dominance is hard to ignore.

Sugano... not interested. He still gives up a ton of content and it hasn't gotten hot at Coors yet, but it will.

Scholtens... perfectly reasonable/interchangeable Rays reliever factory guy.

White/Snelling... I'm the wrong guy to ask. I assume Garrett is back as soon as he's ready.

What’s going with Austin Riley?  In a 12 team is a drop candidate?
Ray Murphy
12:12
My knee-jerk reaction was "absolutely not, that's crazy". Then I looked at his PLink page, and... it's still crazy. 23% hit rate, still has a BAf QBAB... he'll be fine. Hold on.

12 team OBP league.  Have to play two the rest of the season.  Walker, Nimmo or Teoscar.  What’s your preference?
Ray Murphy
12:13
Well, you have to play Walker just to find out how real this breakout is. And Nimmo over Teoscar in OBP. (I'm also worried that Teoscar is cooked.)

AL only, standard rotis league with keepers. I keep telling myself it’s early but, my vaunted stars have dropped me to the bottom third of the standings, with a lot of ground to make up in all counting categories. Aranda, J-Ram, Gunnar Henderson, Roman Anthony, Corey Seager, on the hitting side, Logan Gilbert, Sonny Gray, Cole Ragans, Brian Woo, pitching. Is it time to circle the wagons, or hope for better days? Just asking, thanks.
Ray Murphy
12:15
I'm not sure the difference between "circle the wagons" and "hope for better days" exactly. You saw from Ragans the other night that things can turn quickly, for instance. Lots of talent in the group you mention here, but I can't really diagnose what's wrong with your team overall based on these names. Now that it's May, we have to start taking things seriously. But that doesn't mean panic either.

We start 10 pitchers each week: for last four spots, pick four: Kuman Rocker, Ryan Walker, Devin Williams, Mlodzonski, Prielipp, Grant Taylor, Peter Lampert and Jojo Romero.  Ratios and Ks need a lot of work and priorities.  (I am starting relievers Bedard and Cade Smith, and SPs Bassitt, Valdez, Ray, Keller). Thank you!
Ray Murphy

The answer should change week to week here, and I don't have a handle on matchups next week to answer. In general I'm not sold on Lambert, though there is some interesting velocity/spin gain there. I like Mlod at home... these should be matchup-type plays.

Hi Ray, what do we make of Luis Castillo at this stage? He’s available in my points league, but I’m not convinced he’s more valuable than say, Peter Lambert, at this point. Any chance he turns things around?
Ray Murphy
12:18
I have him too, definitely not enjoying his work to date. But skills aren't too far off from last year, 40% hit rate is killing him. He's come back from slow starts before... if he's healthy, I think he'll do it again.

Ray, your guidance please; in 15T 4x4 I have had Palencia and Duran on IL. I picked up,both Finnegan and Vest in their places because of slim pickings and anticipated some Jansen issues. I a, strong in SP with Schlilster, Burns, Warren, Sheehan, leading. I have Hunter Brown on IL. Ashcraft of Pitt, Prielipp, Dollander (I only start on road) to support. I need a cut to activate Palencia.,I think Tiger closer can be either Vest or Finnegan going forward, or maybe neither. Is it One or other in Detroit, or Ashcraft or rookie. Keeper league ever is priced right. Who you buying a plane ticker for? In the hunt for this year.
Ray Murphy
12:19
You don't cut Palencia, first of all. Detroit is a good place to speculate... Finnegan got the chance last night, but his awful BB/K have me worried. If you only pick one of Finnegan/Vest, I think that's basically a coin flip right now.

Ray, thank you 4x4 AL only ros grissom mathews, gelof, harnaiz in order please
Ray Murphy
12:21
Encouraged that Gelof is getting a look, he'd be my first choice. Not terribly excited about any of the other three.

In an 11 team AL only keeper leagues with standard 5x5 points except relievers get 3x points for saves/1 pt for holds. Had C Estevez, Cleavinger (kept) and Bryan Abreu(kept)  as my primary closers/relievers. Have tried various other options like King, Bigge, Silseth and Seymour with no success. Abreu seems to not be in the mix as Houston struggles. Is it time to cut bait on Abreu and hope Estevez and Cleavinger come  back and generate points?
Ray Murphy
12:25
As annoying as he's been, Abreu might be coming around a bit? I like how HOU has handled him, trying to limit him in games (I'm sure he's working on stuff on the side), and then they gave him a look yesterday in a blowout. He's still a mess, but if he was hurt they would have IL'd him by now. Tough to give up on him, since he could jump right back to the top of that pen if he finds whatever is missing. I wouldn't touch Estevez... Cleavinger's nice, if he actually returns as reported and stays healthy.
Sanchez
12:26
Is it still early? Do you expect anything positive from Shane Smith this year?
Ray Murphy
12:26
Someone in our forums reports that he still looks like a mess in Triple-A, hasn't found his command yet. I'm sure he'll be back, but it's hard to predict whether/when he fixes whatever the problem is. Sorry for the non-answer... but in short, I don't think the ceiling is high enough to hold him.

Question #2. Langsford coming off Il. Flexible roster on corresponding cut.,I have Church, Julien, or maybe even Burger to consider. Decent in HR and 2nd RBi. Batting Avg. and SB need attention. Love Burger upside but… am I nuts to consider him as a cut? Will Church hang on to PT with Noot coming back. Julien is made for Coors… help, please.
Ray Murphy
12:27
I love Burger too, but prob not nuts to give up on him soon...

12:28
AL only, obp.  Cowser, Wallner, JLowe.   Any particularly hopeful or pessimistic thoughts on any of these?  I guess I am  also asking which one of these to cut first.
Ray Murphy
12:28
Cowser's getting fully Wally Pipp'd by Leodys Taveras. I'm expecting BAL to send Cowser down anytime now, let him find his swing in the minors.
Porcho Villa
12:29
12 team 5x5 OBP: Bazzana or Brooks Lee a better ROS option at 2B?
Ray Murphy
12:29
I'm not super-enamored with Bazzana, but Lee is definitely low-ceiling. Take the flier on the kid.
Porcho Villa
12:30
With Duran possibly back soon, would you drop saveless Brad Keller for Perkins?
Ray Murphy
12:30
Yes, for sure. Yesterday if possible. I'm driving the Perkins bandwagon... funny, I was on a plane a couple of weeks ago and watched him wiggle out of a couple of x-inning jams vs. the White Sox. Since then he's been nails, and 3-for-3 in saves. The multi-inning usage pattern will keep him from being THE GUY, but he's going to get a nice chunk of saves there.

Any longterm concerns on any of these bats - Tucker, Riley, Jazz, Soderstrom, Rooker. I sunk a lot of auction dollars into this group and April was pretty rough.
Ray Murphy
12:31
Covered Riley earlier. Rooker obv missed time, for both him and Soderstrom, just let it get hot in Sacto. Not too worried about Tucker or Jazz either. Hold on!
Tony
12:33
What is going on with Gunnars plate approach? He selling out for bombs or are these legitimate contact struggles?
Ray Murphy
12:33
His FB% is way up, seems like maybe the K's are a side effect of that. 24% hit rate says the BA will come back some even if the ct% stays down. Enjoy the power while you wait on more BA.
Hesh
12:36
is junis still part of the committee in TEX?
Ray Murphy
12:36
Latz seems to be passing him. Junis was flavor of the week, and it could come back around to him, but 4 BB/6 K in 14 IP doesn't exactly scream "this is my job, give me the ball in the 9th". At least, not the way Latz's 3 BB/14 K in 17 IP does.

Drafted Rafaela for 2B and recently added Stott, McLain and Schmitt via FA hoping to find production. How do you rank them ROS in 12 team with OPS in place of BA?
Ray Murphy
12:37
Sure seems like something should click in that group. For OBP format give me McLain, Stott/Rafaela, then Schmitt.

ok, I have Lindor, Betts, Tucker and J-Rod, my Offence is DEAD LAST.. is it time to punt the season??
