Brent, I think many people are underestimating AJ Ewing's massive potential. Maybe 20/45 potential? From a dynasty potential, what are your thoughts?

Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:03
I think that line would be possible, yes — though would not anticipate that pace for this season. But in a dynasty context, AJ seems to have all the requisite fantasy tools we look for.

Hi, Brent ... any thoughts on Kaelen Culpepper and his likelihood to contribute this season?
Brent Hershey
12:05
Very likely to be up, and the date gets closer with each out Royce Lewis makes. One of the best young and ready chips that the Twins have to play. And I think they might pull that lever soon.

Happy Monday, Brent.  Is Colt Emerson going to stay up? and produce?  In an 18T 5x5 redraft, is the ROS impact go like this: Swanson >> Emerson > Volpe?
Brent Hershey
12:07
Listening to the team (always tricky), sounds like Emerson is here to stay. Still always a question of how even these top prospects adjust to MLB competition. Could be the type that is solid, but not a superstar, in terms of fantasy. I'd probably have Swanson and Emerson close ROS, and both firmly ahead of Volpe, yes.

Hi Brent,

Hi Brent,  Been a tough year so far, but my team seems to be rounding into shape in a 6x6 mixed rotisserie 14 team league.  I have what I would describe as a not-flashy, but "promising" starting pitcher staff, but I have to pare it down a little as we approach June.  How would you rank them for ROS (can only start 6)?       Gausman, Eovaldi, Tolle, Ryan, B. Brown, Bryce Miller, Schultz, G. Rodriguez and Bradley on the IL.                            Obviously Grayson is a question mark until he shows recovery quality, but I like his potential upside.  I have seen some good things from Schultz, but he seems to be the first cut.  Brown just starting to stretch it out as a starter.  Your quick analysis would be helpful.  Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:11
Lotsa time to round into shape yet.

Pitchers: Eovaldi, Gausman, Tolle, Bradley, Miller, Brown, Schultz, Ryan, Rodriguez. Grayson a clear last for me on this list; loved him as a prospect but just hasn't done it yet. Would hold Brown and Ryan if I could.

Hi Brent! NL 10 team 5x5 looking to replace C Holmes. Choices: (SP) A Alvarez, Grasser, T Myer or grab a RP like E Miller or someone OR activate JR Ritchie ?
Brent Hershey
12:13
Tobias Myers would probably be my first pick; hope he finds a SP role, but should be ratio-friendly if not. Liked what saw out of Ritche's first start, but really rough since. I'd continue to hold off if you can.

Hi Brent Always great to peruse this chat. Time to cut bait on Springer? I am keeping him on the bench now in hopes of a turnaround at some point which will make him tradeable. I have a decent bench size so doing so is not a problem. Age and injuries seem to have caught up to him and 2025 is looking more and more like a swan song.
Brent Hershey
12:14
Not ready to cut bait, but the signs you are recognizing seem real. As was his stellar 2025. I'd still hang on for now, hoping for a good stretch and moving him on name value.

Ten team league.  Picked up Ketel Marte and Willie Adamas to fill MI slots on two of my teams.  Impatient owners dropped them because of their obvious poor starts.  Any chance either rebounds to perrform at least to 75% of preseason expectations?
Brent Hershey
12:17
Yes to both, though in a 10-teamer (I'm assuming mixed), be careful of being TOO patient with guys like this. You have to also churn and ride hot hands. If we compare the 2, I'd think Marte is more likely than Adams to turn things around.

5x5 dynasty 15 team Have a bit of a logjam for 4OF spots +1 UTIL with j rod, schwarber, Ohtani definite starter with Brandon marsh, Bryan Reynolds, JJ Bleday, Taylor Ward for last two OF + fill in at UTIL with Ohtani getting more rest. How do you rate them ROS or should i just play matchups? On the pitching side trying to patch together innings in the face of Skubal/Pivetta injuries. Currently have on roster Emerson Hancock, Peter Lambert, Ty Madden, Sean Burke, Zebby Matthews, Ben Brown and likely can only hang onto 3 due to some roster constraints. Same question: how do you rate them ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Ward sems like weak link. I'd continue to play matchups as long as JJ Bleday hits.

Rank is Hancock, Zebby, Brown, Burke, Lambert, Madden. If/when Madden healthy, mbigh ump him ahead of Lambert/Burke, but those top three—even with some role risk—are solid.

Ottoneu league using Fangraph's points scoring.  Pitching scoring is IP - 7.4 points, K - 2.0 pts, Hit - negative -2.6 pts, BB - neg. -3.0 pts, HBP - neg -3.0 pts, HR - neg. -12.3 pts, Save - 5.0 pts, Hold - 4.0 pts.

I need a RP, was thinking of Kyle Hurt - LAD. The mantra being to go for skills rather than chase results.  Is Hurt a good target?  Since he is on a great team like the Dodgers, I think he will get better opportunities to get future Holds than someone off a bad bullpen like the Reds.  Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:24
Yep, just realized the nice lil' run that Hart is on. Better bullpens always good holds plays.

12:26
hi Brent, thank you for doing these. matthews vs hou, junk vs atl or baz vs tb: who should sit this week?
Brent Hershey
12:26
Might be a blind spot and/or recency bias, but I'm rolling with Zebby this week. I'd probably sit Junk instead of Baz, but could make the argument either way

Please rank Grayson Rodriguez, Christian Scott, Prielipp and Trevor McDonald for 12 team mix ROS. Also why is Eury Perez so frustrating?
Brent Hershey
12:28
Scott (pretty easily for me) then Prielipp, McDonald, and Grayson, who I don't think is 12-t viable right now.

And am wondering the same thing as you on Eury. Can't cut even in a 12 (too much talent there), but benching is an option, which woulda sounded crazy in March.

12:34
Hi Brent - after a few 3s, Connor Prielipp earned a PQS 4 in his last outing.  I have him in a 12 team mixed and 12 head to head.  Does he have the goods to stick around and produce for both teams?
Brent Hershey
12:34
I wasn't 100% bought in after that first start - command looked shaky to me and I thought he'd get hit harder on mistakes. So far, that hasn't happened and while he's not a sub-3.00 ERA guy, many of the metrics are very good. Think he's fine right now in 12s.

12:35
Let me try a couple more! What of G Varland - safe to dump w Beeter returnning?
And will SF play J Rodriguez or not?
Brent Hershey
12:35
I would not dump Varland; not like Beeter had earned anything before the injury. Could be a frustrating situation, but I'd stick w/ the current guy for now.

Rodriguez - no idea. They should, but ... continue to be flummoxed by his and Eldridge's PT trends.

Good Monday Brent, thoughts on Paredes in 12 team roto?  Guess I thought I would see more production by now.  Hold and hope or cut him loose?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Hold and see if things stabilize now that he's got a regular position in the field. Last 31 days splits look good. Counting stats might suffer a bit w/ all the HOU injuries, but his own production seems fine.

Will join what I'm sure is a robust queue of Emerson questions to ask... do you expect the power to translate at the MLB level this season? And what are the odds that he outproduces Perdomo ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:42
Think that's the main question with Emerson, and we need to remember his age (just 20). So it could be that that is later developing. I'd take Perdomo for ROS.

10TM AL-5x5  When Crochet and Bradley come back, which two should get the boot, Bubic, Montero, and/or Springs? McClanahan and Cantillo are my other starters.
Brent Hershey
12:43
Montero and Springs if I'm making that decision today
Ron Fairley
12:46
Hi Brent, is Bradish of 2025 coming back?
Brent Hershey
12:46
Very skeptical with his current control problems (walk rate, ball%) and his SwK from last year (15%) is a clear outlier. That 6-start sample from 2025 fooled us all.

feels like the ride might start getting a litte bumpy for Randy Vasquez. Im nervous.
Brent Hershey
12:50
Can understand it, given his track record. And yes, maybe you sit him vLA this week. But his YTD skills say this is a different pitcher (Ks/SwK especially). Yes, at some point his ERA will go up some, but  there are not huge red flags as for some out-of-nowhere breakouts.
