Tough question of course. All depends on your league, but would Eovaldi and his great start have any appeal to contenders? Looking for younger pieces coming back. I think Manny + Sale, for instance, still have stuff left in the tank. IOW those four don't scream "Rebuild!" to me just yet.

Are Connor Norby or Tyler Fitzgerald worth rostering in 12 team H2H leagues?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Fitzgerald more than Norby, though can see the case for both.

Happy MAAB (Monday after Alvarado ban), Brent. In a shallow SOLDs 5x5 league, would you rate Varland over Stewart? Would you take both over Bednar?  Is Yates worth a stash?
Brent Hershey
12:51
Yes to Varland over Stewart. Bednar better than both (think he gets that job back). Yates ... yeah, probably worth a stash -- though "shallow" always changes the calculus a bit.

NL only.  Is MAbel for real?  even if yes, will he get starts in PHI?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Yep, given his lofty pedigree/ranking before last year's AAA disaster; and 2025's huge strides to regain that, he's for real — even if Sunday ends up being the best start of his career. Phils were adamant that this was a schedule-based; one-time gig and Taijuan Walker is going into Nola's spot in the rotation; haven't heard anything different at this point. Abel will pitch again in the majors in 2025 -- whether it's for Phils or a trade partner.

NL only, saves/holds.  Luis May will continue to be good and get holds ROS?  He is much better than Holderman or Payamps?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Yep; prefer to both of those

NL only.  Eyeballing LRoupp and JIrvin on the waiver wire in my league.  Preference?  Or will they both hurt more than help ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Would go Roupp
Brent Hershey

Whew ... time is flying. Will try to lightning-round the rest ...

Does Matt Shaw make an impact this time around?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Yes

Speed rounder: Is Lodolo top 25 SP in shallow leagues ROS?  Top 40?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Top 40; not 25 in shallow

AL only, saves/hold league.  Possible pickups include:  JLoasiga, AKittredge, BStewart.  Please rank ROS.

Good Day! Start Suarez at Colorado - great match up rating but usually avoid Sps at Colorado and Do we think Greene back against Pitt Saturday or Sunday?  — alternatives are rookie reliever Rey or Seattle set up Brash for saves or holds. Thanks!!
Brent Hershey
1:00
Would consider Suarez before Greene ... but can see Rey and Brash instead. Might go relievers this round

Thanks for doing this Brent.  LKeaschall... no write up or skill on BHQ so I ask:  in mixed obp league, 15 teams, 10 player bench, I have been holding him with hopes he will continue hotness upon return.  But am now considering dropping.   ROS:  NJones or LKeaschall?
Brent Hershey
1:00
Still a month+ on Keaschall; I'd take a Jones shot for now

Been loving Joey Ortiz in my NL 5x5 since he got traded to the Brewers. But good god he’s been awful. Time to punt?
Brent Hershey

Me, too ... but yep; cut bait

Which alliteratively named two-starter do you like better over the next month or so: Ben Brown or Will Warren? (5x5 QS)

Ws have it

Would you drop K. Campbell for B. Lowe? Trying not to overreact to Campbell's slump and Lowe's hot streak, but feels like Lowe has more overall upside for this year. Daily league, 5x5 OBP; also have L. Garcia at 2B.
Brent Hershey

I still trust Campbell

Hi, Brent!

I'm in a H2H category league, with Saves + Holds/2 as a category. Can you help me choose a reliever or two that will best serve me this season?

Here are my options:

Mason Montgomey
Luis Mey
Matt Strahm
Hunter Gaddis
Abder Uribe
Tony Santillan
Gabe Speier
Fernando Cruz

I have Montgomery currently because (dynasty) I see him as the next TB closer, but it might be a bumpy road this season before he gets there ..

Thanks!
Brent Hershey

Strahm, Gaddis, Uribe, Mey ... wow, all nice options tho

NL 5x5 - I have Kepler $1, B Baty $1 SMurphy $3- I need to waive/trade one to activate O Lopez (I need SBs) - who should be moving on?
Brent Hershey

Kepler I guess
Stratford Nicos

Do you think Benson has figured something out this go around? What might we expect his ba/obs range to be in Sept?
Brent Hershey
1:04
Yes, I do. Platooner, but could be fixture ROS

AL only.  ROS CMcDermott v. NCameron preference?  or neither?  (Would drop ABenintendi if I got one of them.)  Yuck all around? ;)

Hi Brent--I'm in a 14-team mixed that goes relatively deep with pitching. Oddball categories, including Holds *and* Saves, Wins *and* QS (W;K;ERA;WHIP;HLDS;SVS;K/BB;GIDP;QS). 12 P total, with 4 RP slots. I'm punting Saves, and one of three exchanging the lead in Holds. Ratios are good-great but injuries have me falling behind in counting stats. I've been streaming some, but just picked up L. Ortiz and Birdsong, both of whom are RP eligible. If either/both are going well when my hurt SPs start returning, I can move them to RP and go with as many as 10 SP for a while to catch up on Ks, Ws, QS.

There seems to be a revolving cast of at least adequate/hot-streaking and sometimes good/v. good MRs on the wire...so wondering who is cuttable among Vesia, Fernando Cruz, L. Hendricks. Also have Gaddis but he's an obvious hold.

I've been holding into Hendricks assuming that Boston will eventually make him their set-and-forget setup guy...but maybe I'm wrong about that, or it's simply not worth the wait.
Brent Hershey
1:06
Yep, would move on from Hendriks

In a 14-team mixed 9X9 (R,H,2B,3B,HR,RBI,BA,OBP,NSB), how would you handle the following all vying for OF/UTIL PT on my roster? Hoskins, T. Ward, Ceddanne R., L. Gurriel, Torkelson, J. Lowe?

Had thought I'd have more OF space w/ Oneil Cruz drafted at SS but Jeremy Pena's hot start has made him a must play there, w/ Cruz moving to OF. Other must-start OF is Kwan, and I have Harper at 1B. Lowe's return has created a total logjam. Before his return, I played matchups/hot hands, which mostly worked...and it's what I've been doing since, but it's such a crap shoot, with all contributing in their ways (even Rafaela w. 2Bs and 3Bs and SBs).

Consolidating via trade makes sense in theory, but very hard to pull off in practice in our league--plus, I've found depth very valuable in this IL-happy era.
Brent Hershey
1:08
Given last point (IL-happy); I'd wait until the last point that your rules allow you to make a decision here. If it's today, I probably have least confidence in Gurriel. Good luck!
