Can we all pray to the good lord baby Jesus that this NA WA thing will get the WPIAL back to letting teams schedule their non conference games? The fact that it is “random” but we get so many marquee matchups is a total line of Bs.

Tigerbeat. I agree. No way it's all random. Some of if it is, but not all of it, no matter what WPIAL says. When Clairton played Aliquippa Tim O'Malley said that game was set up. I think the WPIAL might let teams schedule their own nonconference games. But hey, it used to be that way and teams then asked WPIAL to schedule all games. WPIAL gets criticized a lot. Some of it is just. But many times, it is not. Everyone wants things their own way.

Any chance the wpial will go to a Gardner point system? This would create good competitive sections in 5 and 6a. It would also eliminate the situation occurring this week having a meaningless non conference games late in the season....all games would have meaning.

Have no idea what you're asking. Gardner Points is a system used to break ties for playoff spots.

What's going on is they are bad. Sometimes that happens. I don't think there is much talent there now. Hey, two years ago Ringgold was 8-3.

Mike, I've seen this happen twice this year. With HS rules, the 25 second play clock doesn't start until the head official blows the play in. Different crews set the ball at different times. At the end of the game, it looks like coaches don't know if they are able to "take a knee" to run the clock out or not... Do you think HS will ever adopt a rule like NCAA or NFL that immediately starts the play clock after the previous play ends?

I saw Brashear didn't make the city playoffs.  I know the city is down but how many years has it been since this has happened?  15, 20, 25 years?

Actually City Footballer, it has been 22 years. Brashear missed in 1996 when they were 2-7.

Pine, NA, Gateway, Penn Hills and probably Central. On a one-game basis, TJ would be able to play with Central, Penn Hills and Gateway.

Don't discount AB Wood. Their losses are all to powerhouses. I think they're still the favorite in 5A. Tho Warwick, Cocalico or Manheim Central, or who comes out of D3 will give them a fight.. L-L League is pretty good this year.

Story coming on this in Friday paper. Next year not any better. People don't like to admit it but Western Pa. football talent, at least major-college talent, has dropped considerably in past decade. Numbers prove it. This year, only 4 players are committed to Power 5 schools. Will end up with only maybe 5 or 6. Lowest ever. Look for story later in week.

Palko and Walker had to see this coming, why not just agree on a time frame to play the starters, then let the back-ups and JVs play the rest of the game.  they both have to have Sr's that don't see the field.  give those kids a chance to play some snaps!!

There is no way that one conference should be loaded with 3 or four good teams while the other two are weak. The third and fourth place teams in that conference deserve to get a shot at the playoffs and would likely make the playoffs in either of the other conferences. There is no way that it should have been limited to 8 teams. Yes there is a change for blow outs in the first round but its like that in all other classifications too.
