I don't know. I really don't delve into why schools aren't a prep school or not. Lincoln Park is a public school, if you didn't know. You want them to be a prep school? Do you know kids would have to pay a lot of money if they turn into a prep school?

Will an average D3 mens basketball team destroy a top WPIAL team?
Mike White
11:56
It depends what D3 school you are talking about. But yes, I'd say a decent D-3 school beats high school teams. Do you realize that even D-3 schools have the players who were the best on their team or one of the best in their area? People don't realize how good some D-3 teams are.
Boring

You think Joey David is praying that they never use a shot clock in PA HS ball ? His offense is a never ending series of passes and keep away. They'll have trouble making the adjustment

Don't fault a guy for using a system that works based on the rules. I think Mt. Lebanon would be just fine even if there was a shot clock.

Hi Mike - What's the most annoying question you get (other than this one)? Is it people who think their team is better than everyone else? People who think the system is stacked against their team? People who ask about topics you have recently covered (without reading your article)? People who ask you to name the best player ever? People who throw out crazy hypothetical situations? Thanks!

Contrary to what some think, I like the chat. I don't mind it. I like dealing with people. Hopefully, I might provide some info on here. But yes, there are always stupid questions from idiots. Goes with the territory. You should see some of the questions that I don't publish also. It would be defamation if I published some of them. That's because there are good people everywhere, but also idiots and dolts everywhere -- even on chats.
Better Basketball

My sister and I got into a discussion about the shot clock. She insists they don't need it in PA at the HS level. It makes them better players regarding passing and ball control and finesse. I disagree. I think its a disservice to them if some of them are good enough to play at the next level. Your thoughts ?
Mike White

I'm with you. I disagree. It would force players to become better at making plays on their own. Force them to become better offensively. My thing is this: I think it's now 27 states now have it. That's about half the country. Why can't Pennsylvania? And I'm tired of hearing about the costs. If 27 states figure it out, why can't Pa.?
Coach D

If a parent is coaching their kid from the stands, and the kid is interacting with them, why don't the coaches take the kid out of the game?  Those parents only care about their kids performance.  How can that be good for the team?  I watched it during a varsity game recently and it blew my mind.

It seems to be going on more and more these days. That's all I'll say about it right now.

Hi Mike. Not from Butler, but I watched LittleJohn and Carney play a few times this year. The kids can shoot the lights out like Steph Curry. You have to guard at all times and make them work on both sides of the ball. I understand LittleJohn is going to Miami of Ohio for football. From what I have seen he could play hoops at the college level as well.
Mike White

Littlejohn doesn't shoot it like Carney. They are different players. I agree that Littlejohn could play somewhere in college. Maybe not Division I, but somewhere.

Does Central Catholic claim Sam Clancy as an alum since they wear "fifth ave" on their uniforms?  Central must be embarrassed by their basketball "tradition" to steal another former schools. What a joke. They not only steal current players.  Now they are stealing players from the 70s.
Mike White
12:05
No, Sam Clancy went to Fifth Ave. I'm not going to comment on the Fifth Ave. thing on their jerseys, except to say I wonder how Sam and Dwight Clay and other Fifth Ave. stars feel? Maybe they're OK with it. Personally, I just don't get it.

your opinion on the CC transfers - do you think there might be a conflict between the players and the CC coach ?

If a player is a star on a championship team, graduates, and then it is found that he was actually 21 his senior year, is there any repercussions that team would face even though the player is no longer there?
Mike White
12:07
Not sure. I don't know of a case in Pa. where that happened, but I'm hearing rumors of one baseball player from last year and an age thing. Don't know if true.

Speaking of Parham, why does his mom keep showing up at North Hills games (and sit in the front row) if she pulled him from the school and had nothing but negative things to say about the players and coaches?
Mike White
12:08
Not sure. You'd have to ask her.

Aaron Gee was a great find for Canevin. I believe he can get back this program to the what it was before this year. But do you think he can be affective at all this year? I’d have to say semis would be a win for this team?
Mike White
12:11
Well, I don't know about Aaron Gee. But I do know Aaron McGee is the new coach at Bishop Canevin. And I think he has a chance to do well. Semis this year? I know Bishop Canevin is in first place in their section, but I think semis would be the peak for them.

Well, gotta go. Thanks, everyone. Have a good week. Basketball regular season ends next Monday.
