Mike, earlier CV girls streak was mentioned; what is longest boys WPIAL winning streak? PIAA? Thx

Uniontown won 52 from 1963-65. Stu Lantz was on team for part of that streak. Played for close to 10 years in NBA. Few years with Lakers. Still color commentator for Laker games on TV. Washington tied Uniontown's streak in 1983-85. Brian Davis was the 5-11 center on those teams. One of WPIAL's greatest football players and greatest athletes of all time. Remember, the Popeck brothers?

No, I was not and I took Quaker Valley. They HAVE to win it one of these years, don't they? Although they are young. Will youth matter? Three sophomore start.

You thoughts on districts that have an open district tournament where schools can get in regardless of their records?  Some schools districts have a mandatory 500 rule in order to be able to go to the playoffs.

Not a big fan of "open playoffs." Why? About half the teams get in now anyway. That's enough. WPIAL actually had an open tournament for one year - 1984. Stopped it after one year. That tells you enough.

Geez, Stevie Wonder why all the hate on Fox Chapel? It wouldn't be like the 1967 Ambridge team losing or the 2007 Schenley team losing? Fox Chapel is good but they aren't tremendous. They are what they are -- a good team. But they will play the winner of Penn-Trafford and Central Catholic. If Central wins, that will not be an easy game. You know Central has defeated Mt. Lebanon, Pine-Richland and Penn Hills. When Central is playing its best, they are pretty good and could give Fox Chapel a handful.
