Who do you blame for the Chartiers Valley fiasco ? Speaking as someone who has kids in the district, it seems like they can't ever seem to get out of their own way with the athletic programs. They drive away good coaches.

Who do you think? Just read the stories. Look at the facts. Superintendent Vanatta and other administrators don't look too good. But Vanatta is leaving anyway. She was named Blackhawk new superintendent last week.

Really good game. Uniontown played really well. Meleek Thomas plays were probably the difference. A lot of people actually feel Uniontown matches up better with Lincoln Park than Hampton. I might agree.

5A Final is billed to be an amazing game. Franklin beating Shaler by about 30 after double-overtime the first go at it. Guillory with 39 points? This might be a great one on Friday.

My point wasn't necessarily a union for administrators, it was more about job security and administrators looking out for themselves. Teachers don't get backing from administrators because the influential parent can get an administrator fired, or at least make their jobs feel threatened. That's why the administrators will take the side of the parent over the teacher in a dispute.

Totally disagree. I'm not saying all, but some administrators don't have the backbone to stand up to parents. That's the bottom line. Education has changed drastically over the years - and so has discipline. I'm not even talking sports.

I'd maybe try a zone and hope they have an off night shooting. Maybe even try a triangle and two. Don't be surprised if Hampton tries everything. Joe Lafko has always been known to try some junk defenses.

Amazing what Peters has done with AHN Arena. Really happy to have a venue like that to host HS basketball games. Great atmosphere and gym.

Best gym around for WPIAL playoff games. Without a doubt. I love high school gyms with bleachers in the end zones.

Hey Mike. Large fan. Just offhand do you happen to know how many private schools are in the WPIAL ? I heard there was talk of a separate league for them being floated around. Any truth to that ?

Don't know off top of my head. It's different for every sport. But no, there is not talk of their own league. There has been some talk about separating them for regular season.

Hey, if Evan Berger is your best defender, try him on Guillory. But I do agree that maybe try a different defender on him at times, especially when Berger got in foul trouble. But those are the things coaches must consider. But the way Guillory was shooting, I don't know about a zone. Should they maybe have tried box-and-one for a little? Maybe.

Yes, quality has declined. Teams are younger, so it's a different brand of basketball. Lots of teams dribble, pass, pass, dribble, find open 3-pointer, miss, other team rebounds, go the other way and repeat. And don't tell me about shot clock. If we had one, the team that's ahead in a lopsided game would have to shoot too. That would make the scores worse.

Nice to see the powers that be in BP finally making the gym available for WPIAL playoffs. It's been a shame to have that sit empty like it did when it first opened.

You always don't know why it wasn't used. Did Bethel make it available? Have to say, Bethel gym is odd. Not even chair benches for teams. They sit in first row of bleachers. End zone bleachers so close to floor. Love to know who the heck designed that gym?
