Predictions on who will make a run in the states for 4A?
Mike White
11:22
A handful of good 4A teams. Really, any of them can. Gotta like Lincoln Park though.
AA
11:22
Mike, does GCC have a chance against Quip tonight?
Mike White
11:23
No. Don't show up. Cancel the GCC bus and just get ready for the consolation game later this week. Take the line off Rivers Casino. Good lord, of course they have a chance. This isn't Joker and the Nuggets they're playing.

3A has been crazy all year. The final is officially set, proposing the question: Can Deer Lakes beat OLSH again? What do you think?
Mike White
11:25
Of course they can. As I said, Deer Lakes one of the best stories of the year. Fear the Deer? I don't know. I don't think either team is overwhelming. Looks like a close matchup. You know what? I'll take the Deer to make history and stop history.

I got 2 travels on Valentine on the gamer winner because Seton. How do you miss two calls that’s bad?
Mike White
11:25
Because they're officials and miss calls sometimes.

Peters vs Penn Hills is an intriguing game on Thursday. So far, I have not seen any team be able to match Penn Hills length and athleticism. What do you think?
Mike White
11:27
You know, I was just typing in some starting lineups this morning for boys championships and was thinking: Man, so many of the top teams have no size. Even in the larger classifications. It's amazing. Where is all the size? I've seen it all year. Penn Hills does have some. Another key will be how well Penn Hills handles Peters Township's pressure, and Penn Hills point guard Barren defending Peters Twp. point guard McCullough.

Hello I was wondering who you thought would win Penn Hills vs Peters? Should be a great game
Mike White
11:28
Check above posts.

On another note, is the competitive balance thing every two years or every year? Just wondering as I can see lincoln park being forced to 5a next cycle .
Mike White
11:28
Every two years. Lincoln Park would have to far this season and next season, which is very likely. If Thomas stays.

Seeing a lot of talk about Fab 5 above and a lot of good players in the Wpial this year. Feel like there are only two locks this year in Thomas and Valentine. Then in my opinion you have 3 spots left and 4 possible candidates in Parham, Roth, Gallagher, and Cummings. Saw all of them play except Valentine but his numbers speak volumes, would love some thoughts on this.
Mike White
11:31
I'm not going to give you my picks. We vote as a staff, and talk to a number of coaches to get input. Myself, I see three locks. But that's just me. Not going to say who they are because all that does is get people in uproar. Let's just say it's not close to being finalized with us. The polarizing player is Vinnie Cugini. Many say no way he belongs, and a few believe just because of his career he belongs. We shall see.

I just find the states that don't separate or punish the private schools for their open recruiting lazy to be honest. There are solutions. Find them, enforce them, and move on. Lincoln Park, Canevin, Imani win titles on the backs of public school kids. It's garbage. (Thanks for doing this chat Mike!)
Mike White
11:32
It's pretty hard to prove recruiting a lot of times. You need evidence. Yeah, we know it goes on. But WPIAL doesn't have investigative body. And people lie like crazy in hearings.
WPIAL Recruiter
11:32
What is the recruiting update on Royce Parham? Saw he has taken official visits to multiple strong programs, still gaining interest from others. Any chance he leaves NH for a school like IMG or Oak Hill?
Mike White
11:35
Since the fall, Royce took official visits to Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Penn State and Marquette. He also took an unofficial to Xavier and Maryland and has been to Pitt a few times. Remember, Robert Morris and Duquesne were first to offer him as a sophomore. Still some others showing interest and he has whole AAU season to go in spring and summer. With Mike Brey leaving, NDame isn't in it right now. I would say Penn State, Marquette and Xavier are right in it with him. Sean Miller and assistant came to game in January. Marquette's Shaka Smart came to first playoff game. Marquette and Xavier are both coming hard and Penn State has been there for a long time.

Hey Mike! Was at the DL vs SV game last night and it really came down to one thing…Team Basketball! MV and Cruce are great players but the way that DL gets everyone involved is hard to overlook! Should be a great rematch against OLSH on Friday!
Mike White
11:36
OK. Yes, Deer Lakes much more balanced.

to say Connor spratt has no supporting cast is outlandish I went to a game back in December which was seton la salle vs char valley and multiple players from seton impressed me and seton almost pulled that one out.
Mike White
11:36
OK, Loks.

I think Peters is going to win, Mike. They’re really good.
Mike White
11:36
It wouldn't surprise me.

Mike was not trying to insult your intelligence or be ridiculous by comparing players- Bird-Magic, just saying it was “WPIAL” version this year and really fun to watch two high level kids who put on a great show and leave it all on the court.
Mike White
11:37
OK. But that's still pretty strong. Remember, Bird and Magic played for championships - in college and NBA. Not cutting on Spratt or Valentine, but they didn't play for championships.

I left western PA back in 2012 when I got deployed to Afghan. Hard times but all I could think about when coming with my memories was WPIAL basketball. Thank you for always keeping me updated.
Mike White
11:38
No, thank you for you service. Hope you are well.
TV Time
11:38
Are any of the championship games being broadcast on TV ?
Mike White
11:38
Not broadcast TV. Live streamed on Trib.

11:38
Good evening Mike. What do you think about Penn Hills performance in the last few months? Peters will win regardless (greetings from Greece)
Mike White
11:39
Penn Hills is very good. Peters is good, too. They're two very different teams. I don't think either is a lock. Peters can certainly win. Maybe you can watch from Athens.
LeboKid
11:39
Mike, while my question is based upon Lebo hiring the former EF coach, generally speaking, do you see coaches having trouble making the adjustment from a smaller classification jumping up to the largest (6A) classification? Specifically, there have been issues in the past with coaches coming to MtL and not being able to handle pressure from fundraising organizations like the Blue Devil Club.
Mike White
11:40
I have no idea how coaches deal with booster clubs, nor am I going to get into that.
Hsfan
11:40
Aside from shooting, what do you think the keys are for NC/Lebo?
Mike White
11:41
Rebounding. Neither team is very big.

Who wins in Boys 6A tonight ?
Mike White
11:41
New Castle and Central, but if USC shoots it well, they have a chance.
