I read your post about Blackhawk losing one of their top players.  do you think they can continue to move on without her? Love to see Blackhawk vs North Catholic meet up at the Pete.

Well, Blackhawk is in semifinals, so I guess they can move on without Quinn Boroni, right. The freshman they put in for her had double figures last game. I think Blackhawk would be the favorite against Quaker Valley tonight.

Suggestion for some fans here. After each play, go to the video, rewatch the play then determine the calls, should be fun to watch.

Well, I believe more officials need to check for the foreign object, especially when George "The Animal" Steel is on the mat. I think "Jumping" Johnny DeFazio is a favorite to win PIAA title this year. His sleeper hold is lethal. WPIAL also should look into outlawing jumping off the turnbuckle. Someone might get hurt. Is Bruno the favorite at Class 3A finals this weekend?

I know WPIAL likes playing all championships at the Pete. But what are your thoughts on possibly using 2 venues, thus eliminating 9:00pm weeknight champ games?

Sure, that would be nice. But again, people don't realize one thing - cost. You want to rent another college facility? Do you know how much that will cost? And some will probably complain that they play at one facility instead of the other. I think the WPIAL should make it like PIAA somewhat. On Thursday and Friday, start games at 1. So what. Let kids get out of school. They've started football games on a Friday sometimes at 10:30 on a school day. The 9 p.m. games Thursday and Friday are a little tough. But 9 p.m. game on Friday is usually well-attended.

Does the PIAA or WPIAL assign officials to work all over the region or do they try and make it where its a short distance of travel for them ? In other words would they pick 3 officials who live in say Westmorland County to go work a game in Southern Allegheny County or would they round up 3 who live in say Bethel Park, Collier and Peters and assign them ? If an officials live or went to HS in a district would they work that districts game or a rival district's games ?

Come playoffs, I don't think they look a ton at geography. Maybe a little. And I don't think an official who works in a district will ever work that district's game.

Hey Mike, I'm expecting some tight games in 6A tonight. I would say New Castle has the athleticism advantage over Lebo, but in those games Lebo tends to slow things down a lot. Central and USC is another interesting game. Thoughts?

Both are very interesting. New Castle isn't an overwhelming team. No one in 6A is. I'm sure Mt. Lebanon would like to control pace, but I don't see Lebo holding the ball. New Castle will guard you. I like NC and Central, although if USC shoots it well and doesn't hammered on the boards, they have a shot.

People complaining about private schools recruiting, do they ever consider that parents want their kids going to these schools because the schools in their home district are garbage ? Want to deter kids from going to private schools ? Demand better educational experiences in your public district. Ok. off my soapbox

Yes, they do. But please, I may have been born at night. But it wasn't last night. You know why some kids go to private/charter schools with athletic teams. Not all of them. I get that. But c'mon, man. What has gone on at a few schools? And one other thing. I'm not mentioning any school names, but some aren't exactly bastions of academics. Let's be real.

the post above about canevin is irrelevant this year all starters have been there all years minus Champine butttt champines been there after va closed down before COVID. Public schools can beat catholic/ private schools union beat bc sa gave Lincoln park a game. Give the players the credit every kid deserves to play the game no kid should have to sit out for going to a better situation for themselves. Without that being said recruiting does happen but can happen anywhere at anytime even by public schools. Just respect the players abilities

You are right. Expect the player's abilities. But when a school brings in four or five transfers over two years who have big impacts, what are public schools supposed to think?

I like them. Lets teams decide their own fate. Seen too many times a No. 8 or 9 seed gets into state playoffs just because they lost to No. 1 seed who wins WPIAL championship. Then a No. 5 or 6 seed, who is better, sits at home.
