Not punishing LH for having players that transferred in for athletic intent has taken opportunities away from other schools who did not. Why are private schools the only ones who are punished? Those kids all played aau together while going to school in different districts. Bad look wpial

I don't disagree with you. But WPIAL approved them. And they did physically move into Laurel Highlands district. And I don't know if any principal challenged the move.

I am not saying any schumaman has an easy job but it seems like her decisions are inconsistent. Piaa is even worse. Why do they have rules with so many loop holes. Especially with recruiting.

In WPIAL's defense, hard to prove recruiting if you don't have any evidence and if a school doesn't stand up and not sign off on transfer. If a school signs off on transfer, hard to prove anything. It's not as easy as most people think. Sure you know a kid transferred to athletic reasons, but might not have any evidence.

There have been three from the same class in school. But I don't know if ever four. New Castle in late 1990s came close. David Young, Ed Pagley and Desmond Wetzel all had 1,000 and Pat Cain was close.

Do you think coaches should be given multi year contracts? I’ve heard it’s always 1 year.

Yes, it's always one year supplemental contracts. That's just way school do it. You'll find here and there a two or three-year contract maybe, but not often.

I agree on Butler Football. Teams should not shop for an easier district. Also I noticed on Max Preps TJ football is playing a week 0 game in New Jersey against one of their state champs.

I assume olsh coach rod will retire if they are forced to move up a classification. Too much competition. Thoughts?

I think he walks away no matter what. I think he almost walked last year or two. He's coached a long time. I know he has great success at OLSH, but there are some things that have worn on him but will never speak about publicly, because that's not him. Some parental things.

These schools have to travel so far for piaa games. Do the kids have to go to school the following day?

Yes, it does seem ridiculous. They might get home at midnight or so on a school night. I don't know each school's policy. I'm sure they might get a break. But it is "state" playoffs, remember. So you sometimes have to travel the state. Plus, I know many kids are still up at midnight on their phones or watching TV anyway.

Spring sports preview next week. I think NA No. 1 in 6A. Why not? They have guys back, including a first-round draft pick probably. A number of teams in WPIAL championships have a number of returners, but might be missing their ace pitcher.
