I say no one.
What ?
11:43
What's more important at the HS level ? Talent or coaching ?
Mike White
11:43
Talent.

Will Cugini move into top 3 all time scorers?
Mike White
11:43
Barring injury, I would think so.

Did you get a chance to catch any of the OLSH-Kennedy Catholic game Saturday?  DiMichele came on at the end but you’re right, that’s a well balanced team. Their big kids made some plays. I thought Kennedy made mistake up 6 or 8 trying to bleed the clock out with 4 minutes to go.

DiMichele was really good. But I've said many times, one of the reasons OLSH is so good is their inside players - Summers and Kirschner. Those guys get overlooked, but they're good for 2A. Very underrated. OLSH's presses also hurt teams. We'll see if the presses hurt Constitution.

What a weak move by Butler football trying to play the victim, they chose to leave to get better now they want to have their cake and eat it too... Either join D10 in all sports or man up and come back and play against the big boys if you want in the playoffs

I don't disagree. Butler leaves the WPIAL in football because it can't compete, but stays in other sports. So in District 10, they have to beat out only two teams to make 6A state playoffs. Is that really fair to the Canon-McMillans, Hempfields of Class 6A, who stay in Class 6A. I don't have any problem with Butler leaving and playing in District 10. But I also don't have a problem with WPIAL barring them from District 10 playoffs. That would be like Pitt leaving the ACC for basketball only and getting in the NEC and having to beat maybe four teams to get in the NCAA Tournament. Is that right?

OK
The Truth
11:48
I'm not trying to hate on the talented kids in these recruiting "all star teams" in the state playoffs, but isn't it quite obviously to see the link between these teams and AAU as many times the assistant coaches on the HS teams are AAU recruiter wanna bes?  It's pretty clear to connect the dots.  Everyone is afraid to blow the whistle though.
Mike White
11:49
I have no idea if there are AAU coaches on Philly teams.
The Truth

Unpopular opinon:  It was more of a "state title" before District 12 was involved with the PIAA.  Lots of New Jersey and Delaware (even international) kids now getting a PA state title.
Mike White
11:49
Very true. I know players from Philly schools in state championships before don't live in Pa. Just look at St. Joes' football.

Nine games for PG to cover this weekend: is the old man gonna have to carry Everett and Rotstein?
Mike White
11:50
Watch it, Coach O. Who you calling old? I might be "older," but never old. That's a state of mind.

16 of 24 trans playing in the basketball finals this weekend are non boundary schools.  Non boundary schools make up about 10% of all schools in the commonwealth.  So the 67% of schools in the finals seems like a high percentage.  Public school need to refuse to play non boundary  school.  On another note, has Molly Rottman hit the recruiting trail after her epic choke for the second year in a row.
Mike White

Choke? C'mon, buddy. These are high school kids you're talking about. Leave the "choke" stuff out of this. The previous two times North Catholic played Freedom, North Catholic won both games by only five points. It's not like they destroyed Freedom. Teams seemed to be pretty close.

Well that's it for today. Don't forget state championships are Thursday through Saturday in Hershey. We'll have plenty ofo coverage in Post-Gazette web and in print. Nine WPIAL teams are there. Preview of games in Thursday Varsity Xtra edition. See ya. Everyone, be good.
