A pleasant Tuesday to everyone. Lot going on. Great schedule of games this Friday. Four or five matching teams that are undefeated in conference. ... Has anyone noticed this seems like a year of the turnaround. Quaker Valley, California, Burgettstown, Charleroi and others having their best seasons in a while. Heck, California 7-0 for first time since 1949. No, I wasn't covering California back then.  ... Let's get started. We're open for business.
Stan Kachowski

Quaker Valley - are they the real deal?  USA Today/Massey predictor shows QV winning 21-20, in what I expect is a 3A championship preview.
Mike White
11:03
Yes, Quaker Valley is for real.  I think they have already proven that. Will they beat Aliquippa? Well I think might be most interesting game of week. And pardon me for not giving a hoot at what some USA Today Mass predictor says.
I'd rather see what The Fumbler predicts.

How do you feel the Classifications are holding up thus far around the whole State? Do u believe it is fair for rural teams ?
Mike White
11:04
Have no idea what you mean "fair" for rural teams. Why the tag of "rural teams."

could be a show down with South Fayette VS Montour if Montour wins against Blackhawk next week
Mike White
11:07
Yes it could be.  South Fayette still the team to beat in that conference until they lose. Been a long time since they lost in regular season. Until they do, they're still the ones to beat.

I'm surprise that Kenny White has been offered by my Mountaineers
Mike White
11:09
Well I certainly don't pretend to know everything, but I didn't know WVU offered Kenny White. Not saying not true, but news to me. His offers mostly from MAC schools. Hurt his knee first game. Just started playing again last week. Playing defense. Pine has been doing fine with Jordan Crawford as the No. 1 running back.
TJ fan
11:09
I smell repeat, stronger than last year
Mike White
11:10
Well TJ fan, Tj was pretty good last year - and many other years. This team apparently is top notch also. You're really going out on a limb saying they might repeat. Takes a lot of guts to make that call. ... I will see TJ this week. Going to Belle Vernon. Our game of the week. I smell TJ win. That's really going out on a limb, too.

I asked in week 3 if a team from the TCS could win. I think im convinced. California  number 5 in the state not sure they are that good though.
Mike White
11:13
I'm not either, but let me tell you that Class A isn't exactly deep with great teams around the state. If they had just played in Tri-County South, I wouldn't believe they are for real. But that win AT Imani showed something, and looked even better when Imani beat Clairton. I think they are definitely capable of getting to championship. Gotta like any Class A team that has a "Baby Bus" in the backfield. 6-1, 265-pound Jelani Stafford. Can you imagine what he must look like to some Tri-County South CBs when he comes around the end.

Congrats to Loran Cooley on his first victory as head coach of the Baldwin Fighting Highlanders...Now, with three games left, can we expect at least one more?
Mike White
11:14
Don't be greedy. Fox Chapel, Moon, Char Valley left. They should at least be competitive and maybe one more win.
MAC Tough
11:14
Is Riverside the real deal??
Mike White
11:15
What's the real deal? Depends on your definition. But definitely one of the top five teams in 2A. I think they'll beat North Catholic this week.

New Castle really pushed South Fayette Friday night.  It seems New Castle is getting stronger throughout the season (much like last year).  Does Friday's result cause concern for South Fayette or speak to New Castle being stronger than we may have originally thought?
Mike White
11:16
New Castle most certainly getting better. Judging by stats, I guess they run Hooker out of the wildcat now. Good move by coach Joe. NC still gave up lot points. Defense still not great it seems. South Fayette good, but not unbeatable.

11:17
In the 4A Northwest conference it looks like there may be a 3 way tie for 2nd if SF beats Montour.  Could make seeding difficult come playoff time!  How do you separate Montour, Mars, New Castle...
Mike White
11:18
By WPIAL tiebreaker points. Up to plus 10 for a win and up to minus 10 for a loss. You could finish tied for second, but get the fourth seed.
WPIAL North
11:18
Union is one of those turnaround teams as well. Already matched best regular season record in 20 years. Some big games remaining over the last three weeks in the Big 7. How do you see the conference wrapping up?
Mike White
11:19
Stacy Robinson for mayor. Love what he does up at Union. One of the smallest schools in WPIAL and he builds a winner every so often. OLSH has come on. Still think Rochester might be best.

Another week in 5A and more shakeups!  Do you think Penn Trafford, USC, West A, McKeesport, and Gateway all have a legitimate chance to win it all this year?
Mike White
11:21
You probably got it there. I've seen them all. I think Penn-Trafford is definitely the best. But being best doesn't always mean you win it. John Ruane one of best coaches in WPIAL. Underrated. Done wonders with that program. And watch out for McKeesport. Three-headed Tiger - Acie, Jordan, Harper - averaging 18 yards a carry past four games. That's insane.
Josh
11:22
Good Morning Mike, Now that underdog Knoch beat Indiana finally getting a W is there any chance to sneak in the playoffs? Lots of good teams.
Mike White
11:24
Oh geez, the Knoch fan is back again for another week. They have New Castle, Mars and Ambridge left. Just give them the Ambridge win now. But likely have to win at least two of the three. That won't be easy.
WVU
11:24
Kenny White hasn't been offered typo
Mike White
11:24
You're forgiven. But people probably already ran with that info.
JC
11:25
Mike, what two teams will be playing for the Single A WPIAL title game?
Mike White
11:25
The ones who win the first three rounds of the playoffs. Ha ha.
11:26
No it's really hard to say. But if you hold me down and torture me to pick, I'll say Jeannette and I'll get a little crazy -- California. I still say don't forget about Clairton.
Wike Mhite
11:26
TJ vs Belle Vernon is an interesting one this week.  Mars pushed TJ a little by last week - almost wonder if TJ is just getting bored at this point in the season, so many easy games and blowouts.  I'm interested to see 1) is BV can put up any points on their D and 2) can they keep it within a TD or is it blowout city again for TJ.
Mike White
11:27
First off, Mars is pretty good. Secondly, gotta give shoutout to Matt Humbert and the job  he's also done at Belle Vernon. But I can't see BV scoring enough on that TJ defense. I will be there. WIll Devin Danielson dominate again?? He was unreal last year against Belle Vernon. Looked like Aaron Donald.

11:28
What is your prediction for semi finals in 6A?
Mike White
11:28
Wow. First you want finals predictions. Now semifinals??? Hard to say because you don't know what side of brackets teams will be on. But I'll say Pine, Central, Bethel and NA.
John
11:29
I agree big win for cal at imani but who wins this week  Calfornia or Rochester
Mike White
11:29
Another one of the most interesting games this week, even though non-conference. I'm all lit for Cal.
JC
11:29
