Penn-Trafford, possibly. Not definite yet. But if Hempfield loses to Franklin Regional, and beats Norwin and Plum, Penn-Trafford is out. And P-T is a defending state champ.

They lost some key players from last year's state championship team. Then two returning starters transferred. One of them, R.J. Sledge, went to Imani Christian - "Transfer High." But Bishop Canevin still has some players and Tim McConnell will certainly make them formidable.

Good Morning Mike.  I just have a general question.  I am seeing more and more local HS teams have fund raisers to support a certain sport.  For example, I just saw a city school sell raffle tickets for $100.00 and the winner gets $80.000 and the school gets $20.000.  Is there any type of regulations on these types of raffles?

Nothing wrong here. Done at many school. Just that the winner has to declare the money on taxes.

Having 5 teams in 6a is just a joke. Teams not good enough to beat teams in other classes could not only make the playoffs but win a title (I'm looking at you Central and Lebo). It's utterly ridiculous

Hold on a second. Don't blame the WPIAL or the teams. They have nothing to do with it. It's the result of six classifications. PIAA takes the number of teams in the state, divides it by six to come up with classifications. Problem in 6A is that eastern Pa. now has many more larger schools. That's why there are only five in 6A. It's not the WPIAL's fault. It's the result of population in eastern Pa. and bigger schools over there.

Sorry I was sleeping on the sleeper question. I would go with North Allegheny because they have a kicker named Van Winkle. Any team with Van Winkle has to be a sleeper. I heard Van Winkle rips kickoffs.

I saw Bethel against Central. Bethel lost, but proved themselves to me. I was a little surprised at the ease with which they ran against USC, but ever since that Central game I've been saying Bethel is good. But 5A has a lot of good teams. Could be great playoffs.

He's still at Lincoln Park, so that's news to me. But he just really did well at the USA Basketball Junior National Minicamp. One recruiting site picked him MVP. Impressive. He's a big-time player.

I think people underestimate the disparity in numbers when there are only 4 classes. Shaler has had great vball teams last few years but ran into NA every year.  NA with just under 1000 girls, Shaler with just over 400 according to PIAA website.

Yes. I know six classes has watered down the product. But six classes has helped some schools become more competitive.
