How many teams make the state playoffs in 5A? I see Shaler still has a chance in making it. Isn't that a bit too many considering they finished 3rd in their section and lost in the quarters?

Six qualify from the WPIAL for 5A boys. What's wrong with that? The two teams that lost to the teams in the championship will qualify. That's the follow-the-leader system the WPIAL uses.

I always was under the impression that Crummie would leave under his own terms and have one of his sons take over the program. Do you think this opening will get lots of interest and many applicants? Is there anyone out there you think would be a good "fit" at Central Catholic?

Chuck wanted his son Devin to take over. Doubt that's going to happen now. As for suggestions ... How about Buddy Valinsky?

Great game today in girls Peters vs Bethel for third time. Game at 6 at canon Mac???? For us northern folks who work terrible time.. should been later going to be a good one! Why so early ???

WPIAL wants to do doubleheaders. And when they do doubleheaders for semifinal games they put them at 6 and 8 instead of 6:30 and 8. Reason is so that it gives time for place to clear out from first game.

Obviously many coaches played ball in their day before coaching. Who would be your All-WPIAL starting five comprised of current coaches in their playing days?

Man that's a great, great question. I'd have to go through the list. That would take some time. I know one comes to mind right away. Gateway's Alvis Rogers didn't play in WPIAL but he played at Wake Forest in ACC during the Michael Jordan days at UNC. And Alvis was good at Wake Forest. Lots of pretty good ones. Heck, Joe David at Mt. Lebanon played at Pitt in the Big East.

I watched the last play of the PR v Latrobe game.  I am not saying it couldn't have been called a foul but I believe there was a flop.  Hands up falling back the way he did was an obvious attempt to draw a foul rather than defend.  Good no call.  Your thoughts?

I wasn't there. Only saw the film. Hard to say. Could've gone either way. Looks like the arm was extended a little. But I have since been sent clips of that Peters Township kid doing a pretty good of "acting" on other similar plays this year. Doesn't mean there wasn't a foul, but ....

If Jimmy Moon attended public school, which school would he have played for if he didn’t go to Serra Catholic?

Don't know.

In the OLSH girls upset over Bishop Canevin game last night, did BC get out coached by Eckerle? PG story kind of indicates that. Or is the BC dynasty over without Tim Joyce at helm?

No idea. Wasn't there. Sometimes you just have to say "the other team was better than us tonight." I know that's hard for people to say.

Hey that's about it. Sorry I didn't get to all the questions. Geez, they kept flying in. Reminder, WPIAL title games are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at The Pete. Go check them out. See ya. Be good.
