Hey, he's hitting dingers this year.
Sean Gentille
2:48
The guy has been a good player, but that is not the offensive profile of a starting 1B.
RioDavo
2:48
What percentage would you give that the Pirates make another move before deadline?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:48
98%
Sean Gentille
2:48
May was so very long ago, Stephen.
Dave
2:48
He's a slightly above average catcher with his bat considered. At first base, he's double A.
Dan
2:49
How long is Bell supposed to be out?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:49
Not long.
Sean Gentille
2:49
Yeah Dave, I said that out loud here to Stephen -- "where is he gonna play first base, Japan?"

Does the pirates mini win streak change the outlook for more than just 2018... are they thinking differently about 19-20?  Crazy it could have all been broken up if that did not happen??
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:49
I don't think it changes the forecast much. If anything, it might alter how they feel about Meadows vs. Dickerson.
Marty
2:49
Have the Pirates looked in to adding another bullpen arm? I think a lefty is much needed..
DJT
2:50
What's the talk on Gio Gonzalez?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:50
That's the type of move we could hear about riiiiight at 4 p.m.
Sean Gentille
2:50
Nats seem open to moving Gio, because he's not that good and won't seem like them giving up on the season. So.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:50
Eduardo Encina: "#Orioles are currently involved in late-deadline discussions to trade Schoop and possibly Gausman, according to source."
Dawn
2:50
Any chatter on Dozier?  I think we could use some middle infield help
Sean Gentille
2:51
We talked about this earlier -- they absolutely could, because Harrison and Mercer are just not producing, but it's hard to imagine that working out. Good luck selling a Harrison/Mercer deal. It'd take flipping them, then bringing in someone else as a rental, and that just seems ... weird.
Patrick
2:52
We have plenty of Catching depth. Trading Cervelli could give us probably cause to get ownership to spend more $$.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:52
I don't agree. The catching depth is Elias Diaz, oft-concussed Francisco Cervelli and then ... Jacob Stallings. And not a whole lot behind him.
Croganolez
2:52
How long is Dickerson signed for?
Frederick Warren
2:52
I feel strongly they should extend Dickerson
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:52
Through next year.
Sean Gentille
2:52
If they need a catcher, they should ask the Jays about Reese McGuire.
Dave
2:52
I hate to be a downer about tonight's game, but has anyone looked outside lately?
Sean Gentille
2:53
Ha, we're on the North Shore, and it's apocalyptic.
Cat Tahn
2:53
Who would be odd man out in rotation if Archer comes thru
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:53
Joel Sherman: "Archer trade remains likely. #Braves #PIrates #Brewers the main contenders. #Rays"
Sean Gentille
2:53
Stephen guessed that Kingham would be out, and that makes sense to me.
Patrick
2:53
Buccos fan in Was. Gio is not good. Please no.
Other DC Yinzer
2:53
Cervelli is hitting better than Rizzo and Berlinger this year, his bat could play at 1B.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:53
He does not possess their upside.
2:54
Jon Morosi: "#Pirates have remained involved in Chris Archer trade talks today, source says. Barely more than one hour before the deadline. @MLB @MLBNetwork"
Croganolez
2:54
Rental? Like Harper perhaps??
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:54
Absolutely not him.
dean
2:54
Who are the top 6 or 7 untouchables in Pirates org? From major league level and minors? Make it 10 if you have the hutzpah gentille
Sean Gentille
2:54
there are not that many.
Gaz
2:55
What's john holdzkom up to
Sean Gentille
2:55
...there might be none.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:55
Pitching in New Zealand.
