I think everyone except Bogaerts (and perhaps his mom) believe that.  My hunch is that he'll opt out and sign elsewhere after the season.

Votto is not happy with the direction of the team. Said he won't ask for a trade but left the door open for management to make a decision on where he plays. What would it take to get him in Toronto?
Tim Dierkes
10:10
I can kinda see bumping Vlad Jr back to 3B for Freeman, but I'd be much less inclined to do that for a 38-year-old Votto, good as his '21 season was.  Knowing the Reds, it'd mostly require maximum salary relief.

What are the Rockies thinking signing Bryant
Tim Dierkes
10:11
Why is it bad?  Rockies can't win.  They do something to improve, that's dumb because they're gonna finish in fourth.  They do nothing, everyone laughs at how little they did.
Do they have a good, cohesive strategy to get back into contention?  No, not at all.  But I like when teams add good players.  Good players make teams better.

Would Luke Voit be a good fit with Cincinnati? Given a DH and a future behind Votto
Tim Dierkes
10:13
Certainly.  Anthony Franco did an article for subscribers yesterday where he named the Brewers, Guardians, Padres, Giants, and Cubs, I think before the Giants signed Joc.
This is the part where I smoothly ask you for money

If you're on the fence, please check out these real testimonials from subscribers.  These are 100% authentic and I did not pay people to write these or fake them myself!
With that, I can take five more questions!

NL DH very bad. Discuss.
Tim Dierkes
10:16
The AL got the DH in 1973.  Did that also bother you?  I think the leagues should be consistent, and I don't like watching pitchers hit.

Who is the winner under the new CBA?
Tim Dierkes
10:16
It's so cliche, but both sides got several things they wanted.  No one got radical change, but for that to happen, games would have actually gotten canceled.  This is a lot more fun.

Will the commissioner ever step in and stop the Dodgers from getting every all star player for the good of the game? Bowie Kuhn stopped the Reds in 1977 from getting Vida Blue.. said he didn't want one team dominating
Tim Dierkes
10:18
Bowie Kuhn was a terrible commissioner!  The league will argue that they wanted lower CBT thresholds and stiffer penalties because it helps competitive balance.  It also benefits them financially, so take it with a grain of salt.
The union I think would argue that every team could have afforded Freeman, and those that say they couldn't should get out of the business.
I'm sure the answer lies somewhere in-between.

Why do I enjoy trading all star third basemans to the Jays only to get a meager/uninspiring return

Is Joey Votto finally moveable?
Tim Dierkes
10:20
If there's a time to strike while the iron is hot and get that $57 mil off the books, it's now.  Plus if the Reds PR is really bad right now, can it really go much lower?  Maybe just take all the hits at once?

What pitcher(s) do the Yankees get before Opening Day?  (Love the site)
Tim Dierkes
10:20
Fair chance they get one of Montas or Manaea.  Montas would be a huge addition.

Would 2/20 for Pineda and 1/2 + fincentives be fair for archer?
Tim Dierkes
10:20
It seems a little heavy for Pineda, honestly.  And a tad light for Archer if he's showing well, but those one-year rehab deals are always hard to pin down.

Hasn't been a great few days for me... next on my to-do list: sign Michael Pineda (1 yr with club option?), sign a lefty hitting 1B/COF type (wanted Brad Miller or schwarber), OR take Myers and Hosmer from the Padres along with gore and campusano. Then keep Hosmer until Casas is ready then DFA him...
Tim Dierkes
10:22
I dunno, Pineda isn't that great and they brought in guys like this in Wacha and Hill.  Sale's injury was a surprise but not sure I'd run out and get the premier #4 starter to compensate.
Also not sure why Bobby Dalbec is chopped liver...his second half was awesome!  I think the Red Sox are completely fine at 1B.  Upgrade at RF if you can.

Please, someone tell Farhan to find his hearing aid. The music stopped and he is still standing.. Not going to get a rghted bat.
Tim Dierkes
10:23
Farhan is who we thought he was!  It's been four years now!  I was a fool to predict they'd re-sign Gausman.

Tim: Good Morning. Ultimately who do the Fish end up with in the outfield?
Tim Dierkes
10:25
I'm just not convinced they'll pay up for Castellanos or even Conforto.  This seems like the primary reason Derek Jeter left.  I also don't think there's really a good CF you can reasonably trade for.  But I do believe Dexter Fowler is still looking for a home.
Manfred
10:25
Kuhn was much better than me.
Tim Dierkes
10:28
Kuhn was one of several to come down with commissioneritis, where the commish is under the false impression he works for anyone other than the owners (like the players or fans).  That'll get ya fired.  Rob Manfred knows who he works for.  The man is doing his job.  You should be directing most of your ire at the owners, his bosses.

Where would you put the odds of Carlos Correa actually signing with the Astros?
