What moves might we see the Mets make?
Simon Hampton
11:12
Outfielder and relief pitching seem like the most pressing needs for me. The rotation as well.

They've got to keep pushing the chips in though and try and find a way out of this slump
Garrett Whitlock
11:13
Why is Boston intent on making Whitlock a starter? He’s such a dominant reliever and the Sox appear to have a surplus of starting pitching right now.
Simon Hampton
11:14
I agree that Whitlock should probably go back to the bullpen. But even a solid starter is still just so much more valuable than a dominant relief pitcher, so I can see why they tried, but the experiment has probably run the course at this point

Giants have $50M tied up in Manaea and Stripling's contracts but they've been so awful I'd rather see us pay those guys to pitch against us. How long before they're off the rotation? Because they're guaranteed losses at this point
Simon Hampton
11:17
Not much to be done there except try and figure things out with them. Not like the Giants were really going to contend this year, so they may as well try and salvage value, but it's been pretty grim

I like my definition of "hot" when it comes to vindaloo, but I have been disabled by the restaurant's definition of "hot" before. ANYWAY, I think Yankees' plethora of contracts that will surely be underwater before long, lukewarm results from the farm, injuries, poor decisions by an untouchable GM and an owner for whom the luxury taxes are an issue all lead to the Yanks entering into a dark period of their storied history. What say you?
Simon Hampton
11:20
Haha, this is my age old dilemma when ordering. It varies so much.

It's an interesting question. A lot will depend on how Judge and Cole age, as they take up $76MM just between them. But yeah, Stanton, Rodon, LeMahieu and Hicks are all eating up a lot of money. Almost $75MM committed to those guys in 2025 - so with Cole and Judge you're already at $150MM that season.

10 more mins then I'll to wrap up

I think National Media and even MLBTR have snubbed the Reds with the incredible talent that guys like Elly de la Cruz, Mclain, Abbot, Encarnacion-Strand, MArte, Petty, Phillips, etc. could bring to an already very strong core already up. Even you said "they are doing better than expected". Real Reds fans Knew this team is very close to being special. Guess so called "EXPERTS" need to do their research better before judging.
Simon Hampton
11:24
And all of the guys you've listed are still in the minors. No one's saying the future isn't bright, but the current roster is definitely performing better than expected

How do you feel about the Angels? Out of the 18 losses: 13 were by less than 2 runs, many lost on errors/blown leads late
Simon Hampton
11:25
Still fairly bullish on the Angels, although they'll need a starter I think

Cleveland need a hitter and have prospect capital. Any good RH outfielders for grabs?
Simon Hampton
11:26
John Mozeliak is on hold on line 1
11:27
Always plenty of outfielders available - and the Cards would be a good place to start for the Guardians
Adam
11:29
How bright does the future look in Cincy?
Simon Hampton
11:30
Really bright! Excited to see all these young guys come up and see how they go

You think the Phillies bullpen is an area of weakness? No offense, but don't comment on something you don't have a clue about.
Simon Hampton
11:31
Phillies relief ERA sits 25th in the big leagues this year

Who's the best g.m. in baseball? I'm leaning toward Bendix, closely followed by anthopolus.
Simon Hampton
11:32
AA is great but I can't go past the Rays and Bendix (with a shoutout to Erik Neander of course). Phenomenal how good they are consistently

What do the Mets do with Canha?
Simon Hampton
11:36
His underlying numbers are all pretty much in line with last year, so hope that that can straighten things out over the next month or two
11:37
Alright gotta wrap this up now. Thanks to everyone that submitted questions and sorry to those that I didn't get to - a lot of great questions in here as always.
