Ohtani

Chances I'm with Angel's after trade deadline?
Simon Hampton
11:15
98%
Joshy
11:15
Whos got the next great youth movement, after the orioles?
Simon Hampton
11:16
The Pirates are going to be calling up a ton of exciting young players over the next 12 months. Priester, Rodriguez, Davis...
Ok lets do a handful more and then I'll have to bounce
Joshy
11:18
Simon says 1 thing the tigers fans have to be excited about is.....
Simon Hampton
11:20
One year closer to Javier Baez coming off the books?
SODO MOJO
11:21
Aguilar would be a great fit up here, a lot like Santana was a great fit last year
Simon Hampton
11:22
He's not a huge difference maker, but he'd deepen the lineup and provide some pop, and I'd still expect them to go and add more of a needle mover later in the summer
Raffy Devers
11:22
See I told you Boston picked the guy right to lockup to a long term deal over my friend Bogey..right Simon?
Simon Hampton
11:23
Not sure I ever doubted them extending Devers but no idea why it had to be one or the other
Jerry Dipoto
11:24
Are we turning into the next Guardians, pumping out good pitcher after good pitcher after good pitcher?
Simon Hampton
11:24
Anemic lineup meets quality rotation ... I see the similarities , although Seattle is the far superior city (sorry Cleveland)
Jacob
11:25
Red Sox and Tigers line up well for a package to take on Baez contract + get E Rod. What do you think a deal like that would look like?
Simon Hampton
11:25
Hang on, who are the Red Sox giving back here?
Jack
11:26
Given that the Ohtani will almost certainly leave the Angels in free agency. Shouldn't the Angels explore the possibility of trading him. You're never going to get back equal value in the trade but at least you can recoup some value and not lose him for nothing.
Simon Hampton
11:26
The Angels are 24-22 and four games out of the division race, two games out of the Wildcard. Priority one is a well overdue trip to the playoffs. I think they'd have to be a long way out of it to consider trading Ohtani
Judgement Day
11:27
So was Judge stealing signs this week in Toronto or was he really just looking at his teammates chirping ? I say he’s guilty and was being fed pitch intel from the bench. Yanks have a history of this type of thing ya know.
Simon Hampton
11:28
If the Jays pitcher was tipping his pitches then that's on the Jays pitcher to figure out. Between that and hanging 85mph sliders to the game's best hitter, I'd say Jay Jackson has a few things to work on
Willy Wonka
11:29
Why do you never admit your wrong? People call you out on it but you never admit it lol
Simon Hampton
11:29
What are you calling me out on mate?
Bobcastellini’s cat
11:30
When do you see the Reds competitive window starting?
Simon Hampton
11:31
Feel like next year will be the year they're kind of like the Orioles last year, and the Pirates this year, where they're showing plenty of promise and could potentially buy. 2025 I think they can be really good
Im not Willy Wonka
11:32
But I’ll call you out on Tim Anderson to the Dodgers without telling us how he got there, at least the framework
Simon Hampton
11:35
It's a tricky one as he's not hitting all that well so far this season, but has a really good track record. I still think his track record wins out and there'd be at least one top-100 prospect going back to the White Sox. The Dodgers have six of those per Fangraphs, so maybe someone like Busch or Pages headlines the deal, then a couple of other org top 20 guys?

Tend to think the White Sox will want guys close to, or in, the big leagues, and I do wonder if the lack of shortstops available might drive the price up a bit
Thank you Simon
11:36
I truly respect you for telling us how Tim Anderson gets to the Dodgers, I disagree but respect your thoughts, thank you for responding.
Simon Hampton
11:36
Tell me what gets a deal done then?
Seriously
11:37
Did you seriously just call Aaron Judge the best hitter in baseball?
Simon Hampton
11:37
I mean, who are you putting above him?
Chill Wonka
11:37
Why so bitter dude ? Give my boy Simon a break it’s Saturday morning chill out it’s just baseball.
Simon Hampton
11:37
Lol
Jonathan Erlichman
11:37
I’m the Rays director of analytics and bench coach, should more teams *cough Padres* be seeking people like me?
Simon Hampton
11:38
I think teams should, and almost certainly do, look to the Rays organization when seeking out front office talent
Roster Construction
11:38
Don't let them rattle you, Simon - your insight in these chats are awesome no matter what they say
Simon Hampton
11:39
Ha, I'm good mate
Cashman
11:39
Why are other managers harassing my pitchers?
Simon Hampton
11:41
As I touched on earlier, the sticky stuff situation is a kinda tricky thing to opine on off the TV. Who's to say what, or how much, sticky stuff was on Schmidt's hands, or German's, or Scherzer's?

I do, however, think the AL East is just ultra competitive and so the divisional matchups are always going to be hyper tense, with teams seeking any advantage over each other
Ace of Braves
11:41
What move would you make if you were AA to shore up the rotation? Will the Braves need to deal from thier position player depth in order to address the rotation?
Simon Hampton
11:42
I don't think you really need to give up the prospect capital to go and get an elite starter. Maybe there's an innings eater out there they can go and get to solidify things, but the Braves look very good and have a solid lead in the division that I don't think it's an urgent problem
David Bell
11:43
More NY favoritism.  Their guy gets to clean his hands while the policy in the past is they get tossed.
