Ketel Marte and Madison Bumgarner to the Mets for Ronny Mauricio and Dom Smith make sense for both teams?
Anthony Franco
3:50
Not for Arizona
Chris Young
3:50
predictions for my rangers after lockout ends?
Anthony Franco
3:50
Maybe a run at Suzuki and a veteran stopgap at the back of the rotation. I'm sure they'll be in on Kershaw if he wants to go there too
Cubs
3:51
Can we get above league average production for a whole year from Schwindel, Wisdom or Ortega?
Anthony Franco
3:51
I think Schwindel's the likeliest of those guys to be ok for a few years
3:52
Wisdom's strikeout rate is alarming enough that I don't really buy it. Ortega has a pretty long track record as a fourth/fifth outfielder
Dodgers Fan
3:52
Why do the Dodgers basically refuse to extend their young guys early on?  Could have locked up Seager a few years ago for around 100 mil.  Seems like that window already closed for Buehler and Urias.   Any chance they lock up Will Smith or Dustin May?
Anthony Franco
3:52
I doubt they've got any sort of philosophical objection against this, but it takes two to tango
I'm sure they'd love to work out deals with either Smith or May

3:52
Do you see the Giants making any big moves?
Anthony Franco
3:53
Seems like they're content to spread their resources around in free agency, but I do think they'll pull off an important trade
Landing one of the A's starters, Sonny Gray, someone like that
Cub Fan
3:53
Are the Cubs going to compete this year or 2023 ?
Anthony Franco
3:54
2023 at the earliest. This year's pitching staff is probably going to be rough

3:54
The Mets offer Jeff McNeal for Sean Manaea and A.J. pUK of Oakland. Who says no ?
Anthony Franco
3:54
Oakland
Gimenez
3:55
Does guardians Gimenez have trade value to a team that needs a shortstop? What’s a reasonable return?
Anthony Franco
3:55
There'd be interest in a buy-low sense but not enough for Cleveland to do that this winter. He just didn't hit at the MLB level last year at all
Omaha
3:55
What is the biggest move you see the Twins making once the CBA issues are resolved?
Anthony Franco
3:56
Another team that needs to trade for a starter (probably two). Bassitt or Manaea both feel plausible there
Scooter
3:56
Who do you think Mo will seek to extend first: O Neill, Carlson, or Bader?
Anthony Franco
3:57
O'Neill and Bader are further along in arbitration and would probably be costlier, maybe to the point that STL doesn't see it as much of a value
3:58
I think you can make a good case they should try to get something done with Carlson now, although again, you need the player to be amenable. A pre-breakout extension would be super valuable, and Carlson seems like a good candidate for that kind of step forward

Once the CBA gets ironed out, are we looking at 10 days of pure insanity?
Anthony Franco
3:59
I think the first few days will be pretty slow but the two to three week leadup to the start of the season will be nuts
That's obviously a complete guess though. I've got no experience with this kind of thing

Are we going to see a repeat with Trea Turner next winter?  He's obviously a $250-300 mil player.
Anthony Franco
4:00
I lean towards re-signing in L.A. (in free agency, not this winter) versus him walking
Letting Seager and Turner walk in back-to-back years would be tough. Feels like they might just think Turner's better and prefer to allocate a megadeal on him than on Seager

What does Michael Pineda end up getting?
Anthony Franco
4:00
Probably like 1/7. Wacha money

This lockout is terrible. This feels exactly like the freeze in 2020 - no baseball news and no clarity on when the season would start.
Anthony Franco
4:01
Agreed, reverse-name me
Andy Friedman

Michael Busch and 2 lower level prospects, does this get me a rental pitcher from Oakland.
Anthony Franco
4:02
I think it would, yeah. Not sure the Dodgers would do that though

Anthony: Good Afternoon. At the end of the day do you think the Marlins will forgo trading their prized young arms and sign Conforto?
Anthony Franco
4:03
I don't think those two things are mutually exclusive. Conforto might be a little too pricy there but they've spoken about adding to the payroll a couple times so it's not outlandish
4:04
Playing Avi García in center field everyday isn't great, though, and you could still trade one of the depth starters for some center field cover (even if more of a fourth OF type) to rotate Conforto, García and Jesús Sánchez through the corners and DH
4:05
Assuming there's an NL DH in the next CBA, obviously
