Seems like they're focused on getting it done with the Mets. Mike Puma suggested last week that could require settling on something that'd allow New York to get out of some portion of the contract if Correa suffers a serious right leg injury -- which is a rare but not unheard of provision

Mostly just to defer the payment a few months. Rather than evenly distributing a $4.5MM salary throughout the season, Milwaukee can distribute $3.5MM and hold off on the last $1MM until the end of the year. It just maintains a marginal amount of budgetary flexibility for the team and is largely immaterial to the player

I think he's the best free agent left in general, yeah. The lefty relief market has been really slow for some reason. It's odd that all of Chafin, Smith and Matt Moore are still out there
