2 of the 4 favorites won their DS anyways. It's not like the Wild Card teams resoundingly destroyed all the division winners
Emilio Pagan
7:22
Will I become a free agent after the World Series ends?
Anthony Franco
7:22
He's arbitration-eligible but I expect he'll be non-tendered by the mid-November deadline
That guy
7:22
When do the cubs contend
Anthony Franco
7:23
They're still two years away for me probably. Not sold on much of the position player group other than Hoerner and Suzuki as long-term core pieces
7:24
Rotation has some interesting younger guys (Wesneski and Steele, in particular) but it's still pretty thin overall
PackFan4
7:24
Who are the Brewers' most likely trade/free agent targets this offseason?
Anthony Franco
7:25
Kind of depends how many players they subtract. The arbitration class is huge and wouldn't love room for many upgrades if they don't move a couple players from the Renfroe, Adames, Woodruff, Burnes group
7:26
They'll probably look for catching help, another team that lines up well with the Jays given their depth there. Could look into third base help with Jace Peterson hitting free agency
Maybe that's a Gio Urshela trade, signing Jeimer Candelario if/when he's non-tendered by Detroit
Derek Falvey
7:27
Do you think I'll add another starting pitcher or two this winter? On paper, my existing rotation doesn't look so bad anymore does it?
Anthony Franco
7:27
(Twins)
7:28
I do think they'll add at least one guy, yeah. Agree that a top five of Mahle, Gray, Ryan, Ober, Maeda could be pretty good but there's a lot of health uncertainty with that group
There are a bunch of lower-variance innings eating types available in free agency. Expect Minnesota to play in that market

Where do you see Moniak fitting in next year in the Angels OF...?
Anthony Franco
7:28
The bench
kurt the hurt
7:29
what will the g.m.'s job be in detroit behind scott harris ?
Anthony Franco
7:29
Just a second-in-command, essentially what an assistant GM was ten years ago. The vast majority of teams now have a president of baseball ops who has final discretion, with a GM as their most trusted assistant

I do not see a place on the red Sox for JD Martinez or Hosmer. Agree or disagree and why?
Anthony Franco
7:30
I wouldn't say there's no room for Martinez if the price is right. Could just pencil Casas in at first base and bring JDM back at DH
7:31
Hosmer, eh. He shouldn't be in the starting lineup. If he's on the roster as a left-handed bench bat who's great in the clubhouse, that's fine
Aaron Judge
7:31
Quick question before my game . Where do you think I will sign?
Anthony Franco
7:31
With the Yankees
Kramer
7:31
Morton is a 4th starter at best. Is he really worth another 20mil? Seems like they could have gotten a better deal on FA market or just went with oddarizzi
Anthony Franco
7:32
I don't mind it. His raw stuff is still pretty much the same it was in previous seasons. He had the weird command blip early in the year but was really good between June and August before a couple rough starts in September
7:33
I wouldn't be surprised if he bounces back with a 3.50 ERA with a 27% strikeout rate again. If he does, he'd be worth the $20MM
ookla the mok
7:33
Do you have the game on mute?
Anthony Franco
7:35
I don't really watch the games during my coverage shift. I have to follow everything that gets tweeted by the main reporters as it comes in, and since so many are in person at the playoff games, they tweet out the play-by-play before the TV broadcast
Really takes the suspense out of it haha

7:35
Does Nolan A., opt out it is he in a Redbirds uniform next year?
Anthony Franco
7:35
Gut feel is they restructure his deal to tack on some extra money at the back end before his opt-out date
Sal Perez
7:36
The Royals have MJ Melendez and are a few years from contention.  Do I get traded to the Cardinals or somewhere else?
Anthony Franco
7:36
No I can't see the Royals trading Pérez. Dealing Melendez feels likelier if they're concerned about the stockpile
Mad Bill Lock
7:37
Other than having more money to spend, what does the Pirate FO need to do better?
Anthony Franco
7:38
I don't know about "need to do better" since I've generally liked their drafts in the Cherington era, but it's always going to be about keeping a strong minor league pipeline for them
7:40
System and MLB roster currently skew a little position player heavy so developing starting pitching is particularly crucial over the next couple seasons. Contreras and Keller are intriguing, but they need to continue to build that group
Detroit
7:40
What direction do you see the Tigers FO taking this off-season? Trying to win in 23 or win later
Anthony Franco
7:41
2024 feels more likely, think this was such a Murphy's law season they'd have too many holes to fill to compete next year
Particularly with Mize out and Skubal looking increasingly unlikely to be available for Opening Day
7:42
Alright that's all I have time for tonight
