What left handed bat is out there for the Jays to trade for? I need a dark horse,  not Nimmo.
Anthony Franco
6:42
Not sure they're really "dark horses" but Max Kepler and Jake McCarthy each make sense there
Aaron
6:42
How can MLB incentivize teams to get past the slow-burn offseason? It's a miserable waiting game (although I'm sure it's good business on the MLBTR side)
Anthony Franco
6:42
I don't think you can without implementing a salary cap, which obviously isn't happening
6:43
Could try some kind of firm offseason transaction deadline, but I'm guessing the MLBPA would balk at that as well
6:44
To your other point, yeah, I much prefer the MLB offseason the way it is, but I'm in a different position than fans are obviously

Is Kodai Senga's market going to drive his price up more than expected (similar to Seiya) or is something like 5/70 going to be good enough to grab him?
Anthony Franco
6:45
We put 5/75 on him so that tells you where we expect him to land, but the error bars in projecting contracts for guys coming from other pro leagues is higher than it is for a typical free agent
6:46
So much of Senga's value depends on how teams project his command and whether they think he can fit into the middle of a rotation. Would I be shocked if he ends up closer to nine figures? Not really
Braves fan
6:46
if Swanson doesn't return, who do you think the Braves' starting SS is on Opening Day?
Anthony Franco
6:46
Probably Arcia
6:47
He'd hold it for like a month before they gave it to Grissom and then reevaluated whether they need to make a move at the deadline
Peter
6:47
Who is the phillies rotation next year looking like alongside wheeler and nola?
Anthony Franco
6:48
I think they're well-positioned to go big on a short-term rotation upgrade. Extremely aggressive win-now mentality, some near-term payroll space
They're my pick on Verlander
6:49
Beyond the external pickup, it's Suarez and probably Falter, with Andrew Painter having an outside shot at winning a rotation job out of camp
Tenderize
6:49
Dead line to tender arbitration eligible players is rapidly approaching.  Any big names you expect to be non-tendered.
Anthony Franco
6:50
Bellinger, Candelario, Luke Voit

Is Swanson really a 100 million plus player? I like him and hope the Braves resign him but not for that much
Anthony Franco
6:50
Yeah he's going to beat that pretty easily. He's already reportedly turned down around that much from the Braves
6:51
Story and Báez each got $140MM with opt-outs last year. Swanson fits right alongside those guys and is probably a little bit better
Randy Poffo
6:51
Do you see the padres going over the luxury tax again?
Anthony Franco
6:51
Yeah I think they'll have to if they're going to adequately address the back of the rotation and left field
6:52
Doesn't seem like Peter Seidler's anxious to cut back spending as the team's finally hitting its peak
Sam
6:52
With the salary the relief pitcher's have received in the last few days, what does that do to the value of good relief pitcher's on the trade market?
Anthony Franco
6:53
Interesting question, hadn't considered it. I could see the free agent relief market propping up trade value of cheaper relievers, sure, although I need more than just Montero and Suarez to conclude free agency's going crazy
Gary DiSarcina basically
6:54
IIRC it is you who always stumps for the Angels to bolster their infield mix. What are a couple of moderate starting options may fit well there?
Anthony Franco
6:55
Amed Rosario trade makes sense there. Elvis Andrus is probably better than the guys they have in-house
6:56
Jean Segura's still good, if they're interested in bringing him back
San fran
6:56
Did you like the Pederson signing? Who is next?
Anthony Franco
6:57
Really surprised they offered the QO, we never even considered him when running through potential candidates going into the offseason
6:58
I can see the logic well enough. He had a great year, hits the crap out of the ball. $19.65MM is probably an overpay for a season but there's no long-term downside and they have a bunch of immediate payroll space
6:59
Wouldn't have done it myself, but I don't think they made some egregious mistake. Still think they'll be very in on top-of-the-market position players
Hopeful O’s fan
6:59
Which free agent starting pitcher is most likely to come to Baltimore? I can’t see them paying Verlander or DeGrom.
Anthony Franco
7:00
Yeah I think they'll be more in the Taillon, Manaea, Walker, Syndergaard tier
Not all of them obviously, but I expect they'll get one of those guys
St Mo
7:00
In the wide net the Cards will be casting for a catcher, does the Braves catching tandem fall in there?
Anthony Franco
7:01
I doubt Atlanta's itching to move either d'Arnaud or Contreras, and St. Louis will aim higher than Pina
Doesn't hurt to call, but I think there are cleaner fits
Sad man
7:02
Yankees signing Rizzo and probably Judge is more of the same. People are exited for something they had and did not work. I feel the only way the Yankees can win is by doing a full rebuild. None of their players are in the top 10 and maybe not even in top 25. Should they do a full rebuild?
