Anthony Franco

Nah they made the ALCS and won 99 games. They're good
Drew
7:03
When are the Mets actually going to sign someone?  Shouldn't Eppler at least be putting the bullpen back together?
Anthony Franco
7:03
They've already re-signed Diaz and claimed Stephen Ridings. They'll build it out, there's plenty of time
Ben
7:04
Hi Anthony thanks for doing this! Braves question. Albies/RAJ haven’t finished a season together, healthy since 19’. Can fans expect mvp numbers from both in 23’? Who starts LF? Do u/they view Ozuna as the DH alongside Contreras, D’Arnaud? Is Grissom expendable?
Anthony Franco
7:05
I expect Acuna to put up MVP-type numbers annually, yeah. Albies isn't that caliber of player -- very good, but more All-Star than top ten in the league talent
7:06
Feels like the left fielder's coming from outside the organization. I've gotten a bunch of questions on teams that could fit for Winker, think Atlanta's one of them. Ian Happ makes sense if the Cubs deal him, they could be in on Profar in free agency
Devers
7:06
will I sign an extension, be traded, or just play out my last arb year? Deadline deal or trade?
Anthony Franco
7:07
I actually think the Red Sox get an extension done at some point in Spring Training. Complete guess, but they seem more motivated there than they have with Bogaerts
7:08
They'd have to be well out of contention next summer (assuming no extension) to deal him, which I don't expect

could cj cron be a fit for the astros, and could grich fill the outfield hole as a platoon option?
Anthony Franco
7:09
Colorado seems reluctant to trade off the big league roster. Doubt Cron gets dealt, although getting Nolan Jones makes that a little more plausible I guess
Astros make a ton of sense there if the Rockies listen on him, I agree. Don't think Grichuk moves the needle for anyone really
Frustrated Cardinal fan
7:10
MO is kidding about Dejong possibly being our opening SS, right? No way they don't make a move, right? RIGHT?!?
Anthony Franco
7:10
Even if they don't make an outside pickup, I can't see any way DeJong's the Opening Day shortstop
7:11
If they want to prioritize catcher and the rotation, which is defensible, then the middle infield duo should be Edman and Donovan
The Judge
7:11
How come the Giants haven't called me yet ?
Anthony Franco
7:11
Just because he hasn't signed doesn't mean they haven't called
White Sox Fan
7:12
Would Yoan Moncada and a few minor league pieces be enough to get Anthony Santander?
Anthony Franco
7:13
Moncada has negative trade value right now. He wouldn't come close to a two-year deal in the $48MM range if he were a free agent this winter
If they're trading him, they're either paying down some of the money or taking back a player on an underwater deal of his own
Amazin
7:14
Nimmo return?
If not where does he go?
Anthony Franco
7:15
I like the Giants there but a Mets return certainly isn't out of the question. Blue Jays fit, Rockies perhaps, Astros, Dodgers, Cubs, Rangers all make sense
Nick
7:15
Do you like the moves Scott Harris has done so far?
Anthony Franco
7:16
(Tigers)
7:17
I like the coaching staff moves. They haven't done much from a personnel perspective yet but it seems like Harris is taking a page out of the Giants playbook in aggressively working the waiver wire and minor league trade market, which is encouraging
Far too early for any definitive conclusions obviously, but seems like they've got a plan through the first six weeks
Joe
7:17
Do you see the Padres keeping Josh Bell or letting him go after mightily struggling the second he got there?
Anthony Franco
7:18
Think he's gone
JP
7:18
Cody Bellinger (LaD) for Kendal Graveman (CWS) who says no?
Anthony Franco
7:18
I've gotten a few questions about the chances of the Dodgers trading Bellinger for good players, and that's just not happening
7:19
I doubt anyone will want Bellinger for $18MM, and if they do, it'd be as a buy-low flier rather than a swap for a key MLB piece
Josh
7:20
The Royals bolster the rebuild by signing Michael Brantley or J.D. Martinez (or both)?
Anthony Franco
7:20
Could see one of those guys fitting in K.C., not really room on the roster for both
7:21
J.J. Picollo has already talked about the team wanting a right-handed bat, so JDM fits that better, but Brantley's probably going to be cheaper
7:22
Does kind of block the path to AB's for Nick Pratto again, which they might not be stoked about, but it's not like he's absolutely earned everyday DH run out of the gate either
I’m a realist
7:22
In the context of, “it COULD happen but most likely WON’T happen,” what free agent signing would make your jaw drop and why?
Anthony Franco
7:23
Rangers signing Judge, Angels getting Trea Turner
The Express
7:23
If Nolan Ryan (in his prime) put up the same numbers in today's game, do you think he'd win a Cy Young? Or still get passed over? Curious what stats/qualities/numbers are being looked at for today's winners vs 20-30 years ago.
Anthony Franco
7:24
He absolutely would not put up the same numbers if he were playing today. But if somebody now were throwing like 280 innings with a sub-3.00 ERA, they'd coast to Cy Young
