Not that I've seen. I think that'd be very silly
Jed Hoyer
3:26
Am I really, REALLY not signing a top-50 free agent?  That’s just me keeping it “close to the vest”, right?
Anthony Franco
3:26
I do think they'll sign one or two Top 50 free agents, yeah. But I don't expect them to land any of like the top 20
That's the Cubs, by the way
Rosko
3:27
Any buzz on Reynolds?
Anthony Franco
3:27
Guessing this about Bryan Reynolds? I doubt we really get much traction on anything this winter
3:28
The Pittsburgh beat was pretty adamant this summer that the Pirates considered Reynolds a long-term building block and didn't want to move him. I think he sticks around
Os fan
3:28
Are we doing anything this year free agency wise?
Anthony Franco
3:29
It doesn't seem like they'll be especially active. I'm sure they'll add somebody on a low-cost deal. They need at least one starter just to eat some innings, hopefully more competently than Matt Harvey did
I actually think they'd be an OK fit to take a shot on a Dylan Bundy rebound, although I have no idea if either side wants to go down that road again
Yo pick my question
3:29
You guys should do an offseason trade prediction piece...
Anthony Franco
3:30
We're probably going to put together a top trade candidates thing, at least. Tim, Steve and I have been kicking around this idea for a couple weeks
Angels
3:30
Would the Angels consider trading Luis Rengifo and Griffin Canning for a high end starting pitcher?
Anthony Franco
3:31
I'm sure they'd love that but neither of those guys have that kind of value anymore
I could see them being secondary or tertiary pieces in that kind of trade (Canning in particular), but neither one is headlining a trade for Pablo López or anything like that
Ross Atkins
3:31
My 3B and 2B are whom in 2022?
Anthony Franco
3:31
Biggio and Eduardo Escobar?
Twins
3:32
Why are the twins nickel and diming Buxton over $20 mill over 7 years. Seems like a no brainer team friendly deal
Anthony Franco
3:32
It's a little surprising, I agree. If the hold-up on an extension is truly like $15-20MM in incentives, I think I'd be willing to go there to keep Buxton
3:34
That said, I also don't have access to Buxton's medicals as the Twins do. And it's easier for me to say that teams should take more risks on high-upside players with durability concerns than it is to actually pull the trigger from a team perspective
Red Sox Nation
3:34
Do you think the Red Sox adding javy Baez and vet lander would be enough to make them favorites in the AL?
Anthony Franco
3:35
They'd be in the top handful of teams probably, but I don't know that I'd have them above Houston, Toronto, the Rays or Yankees (pending other offseason moves) because the back of that rotation still concerns me
Nicholas
3:35
If the White Sox doesn’t re-sign Rodon who can look at to make up some innings? Kopech would be on a innings limit.
Anthony Franco
3:36
Depends on funds, of course. I think they're a good fit for someone like Steven Matz if they're willing to commit multiple years
Oakland Fan
3:36
I'm afraid I am in for a very disappointing off season correct?
Anthony Franco
3:37
Yeah it sure seems like it. You've got a tough lot as an A's fan, although the front office is at least quite good at threading the needle and staying respectable even as they trade away their most recognizable players
dbrooks
3:37
Are the Tigers actually the frontrunner for Correa? I also am not buying the JV/Tigers news or rumors. JV has never struck me as a mentor type, he may be championship hunting..
Anthony Franco
3:38
I don't think there is a "frontrunner" for Correa at the moment. But Detroit's as sensible a connection as any
They need a shortstop, have huge payroll flexibility, Correa's great
Lord of the Rockies
3:38
How dare you assume i wont throw away a draft pick for no discerable reason. Give me all the Conforto.
Anthony Franco
3:39
Yeah they may not care. I would, though, since I don't expect them to be very good in 2022
Jose Berrios
3:39
Did i leave moneys on the table?
Anthony Franco
3:40
I thought it was a fine deal for both sides. Maybe a little lighter than I'd have guessed -- not in terms of total guarantee really, but I'd have expected 6/131 before 7/131
But even if his AAV is a touch lower than I'd have anticipated, it's a strong overall sum and the opt-out gives him a little bit of additional earning upside
CBA
3:40
Over/Under length of new cba. 5.5 years ?
Anthony Franco
3:41
I'd guess they shoot for five years again. That seems to be the recent pattern
Stone Cold
3:41
What outfielder do the Braves sign/trade for?
Anthony Franco
3:41
I think they'll bring back one of Soler/Rosario, keep Duvall and wait on Acuna with Pache as insurance
Guest
3:42
I'm still waiting for an official announcement that Billy Eppler is hired.  Has been a few days since this was reported as imminent.   Is there any indication that something is amiss here?
Anthony Franco
3:42
David Lennon tweeted this morning that everything's expected to be finalized by Friday, so I think it's all set
