They're already essentially gone on record to say they won't trade Giolito, and I can't see a way they deal TA or Robert
6:21
I think they're mostly just going to run it back, although I could see them trying to offload money from the bullpen by paying down a bit of Joe Kelly's contract or something. Graveman would have decent appeal if they considered that

The Twins have been mentioned a lot in trades. Do you see Arraez and/or Kepler with the team come opening day?
Anthony Franco
6:21
Arraez, yes. I expect they'll deal Kepler

Think the Bo Sox mess up a Devers extension?
Anthony Franco
6:23
I slightly lean towards them getting a deal done in Spring Training. Feels like the pressure has to be building on the front office to keep one of their core players
6:24
And I assume they won't want to deal with the Bogaerts-style situation again. I don't blame them for not going to the lengths San Diego did -- I certainly wouldn't have done that either -- but if they made a more reasonable extension offer eight months ago, we probably never get to this point

Was Esteury Ruiz enough of a return for William Contreras? Seems like the Braves could have done better trading him separately and then used pieces to trade and stock the minors.
Anthony Franco
6:25
Well the A's wanted Ruiz, so I don't think it was really a decision for Atlanta. Oakland picking Ruiz over Contreras is fascinating

Do the Braves go after a LF like Conforto or Brantley or roll with their internal options?
Anthony Franco
6:27
I feel like if they get a new left fielder, it's more likely to come via trade. Probably an Anthony Santander type
John
6:27
What team that missed the playoffs in 2022 is most likely to make it in 2023?
Anthony Franco
6:28
Obviously plenty of offseason to go but as of now, I'd be inclined to go with Milwaukee
Not necessarily because of anything they've done this winter. But they weren't far off last year and the division is still bad outside of St. Louis

Thanks for chats. Love them.  I heard Harolds comment this morning that the Yankees should reach out to the Giants about a Brandon Crawford trade as he could be a one year stop gap for them.  How viable of an option do u feel that would be?
Anthony Franco
6:29
Crawford's a California native and career-long Giant who has full no-trade rights. No reason to believe he wants to go anywhere

If the Jays offer Arizona their choice of catcher would the Dbacks trade D Jones as the start of a larger trade?
Anthony Franco
6:31
Man, that's pretty bold. You could argue that Jones-plus for Moreno makes some amount of sense for both teams, but that kind of prospect for prospect deal never really happens in practice

The M's made a couple significant trades but have been quite in free agency. Do you expect Dipoto/Hollander to get involved or do they continue to fill gaps via trade?
Anthony Franco
6:33
Dipoto's comments on payroll make it seem like they're not super keen on making huge investments this winter, but a one-year deal for Conforto or Brantley should still fit
Could deal Marco or Flexen for another corner bat as well
Chris
6:34
Why has there been nothing connecting Conforto to the Yanks?  He seems like hed be a great one year buy low-ish option for them in LF, Im not sold on pennying up for Benny.  Plus youd think that team/ballpark would be a great option for Conforto to have a bounceback year
Anthony Franco
6:34
Sure yeah, I also like this fit for Conforto

I kno my championship window is wide open and I’m not trading fried under any circumstances but if I was with 2 years of control what type of package would at least entice me?
Anthony Franco
6:34
I got a bunch of Fried trade questions out of nowhere this week, not entirely sure why
6:35
So yeah, I don't think there's any chance they Fried. He's worth more than what Cincinnati got back for Castillo, but I can't imagine there's any realistic package someone would relinquish that would make the Braves consider it. They're all-in now

I think 2023 is more an evaluation of the young talent in the O's farm system that can help at the Major League level than the so called "lift off", your thoughts?
Anthony Franco
6:38
Generally speaking, yeah I think that's how they view it. That shouldn't really preclude them from adding a veteran infielder or a mid-rotation starter though. We don't need more time to evaluate Bruce Zimmerman or Tyler Wells
And the team played well enough in 2022 they owe it to the roster to at least try to put some pieces in place to hang around the Wild Card mix again

I think the Astros should resign Yuli (utility) and Brantley and call it an offseason. Either Yuli can play first, Abreu DH, Yordan LF, or the other way around with Brantley in left. Either way you have some coverage for age/injuries. Thoughts?
Anthony Franco
6:40
Yeah there's a lot to be said for mostly running it back from here. I'd probably add a better #2 catcher than Korey Lee as well, but that's a minor concern
Curt
6:41
Do the Brewers have a good shot at landing Drury or Turner? They really need a 3B
Anthony Franco
6:42
I feel like it'll be Urías, Turang and a lower-cost pickup from there. More Josh Harrison than Drury
TxDude
6:43
Jim Callis dropped the info on MLB Network that the Braves could entertain offers for Fried since they have 7 capable SP and a depleted system
Anthony Franco
6:43
I hadn't seen that. I'd be stunned if they did that
Thank you for the chat!
6:44
Can IKF play 2B? Would he be a fit for a Graveman swap with CHW?
Anthony Franco
6:45
He could move to second base, sure. I like this framework, although I think the Yankees would have to kick in a little bit more alongside IKF. Graveman at 2/16 is pretty solid value with the way the market has gone crazy
Relief market specifically, I mean
