I trust the Statcast stuff more than DRS or UZR but I'm skeptical of all of them in a one-year sample

Over multiple seasons, I place some value in them. But for guys in their careers, I tend to lean on what public scouting reports thought of them as defenders more than any of the metrics

Seems like most believe Paul DeJong is the Opening Day SS for the Cardinals, but if that fails, what options could the team turn to? Does not getting involved in the SS market in free agency mean using Edmundo Sosa as a backup and waiting til the trade deadline to explore an acquisition?

It doesn't have to be Sosa necessarily, although he's probably the first guy if DeJong keeps struggling. Nolan Gorman could be up relatively soon and if he's playing well, maybe they plug him at second and kick Edman over to short

I've seen it mentioned before, and I agree that the O's should rip Correa off the market for a big splash. Why don't more teams nearing the "fruits of rebuilds" make those types of moves? The most recent example I can think of is Werth -- but even then, he was nowhere near Correa's situation.

Trade idea: Braves send Kyle Wright to Angels for Taylor Ward.  Both teams trade from areas where there’s a bit of a blockage to get a player in an area of need that can help immediately, and who still work even if their role has to shift (Angels: rotation/bullpen, Braves: COF/DH/bench).
