Is Brad Miller a second base platoon option for the white sox?
Anthony Franco
6:02
Interesting one. Haven't heard much about Miller this offseason, but he's a nice bat-first role player
6:03
He'd be rough defensively at second, but they could use Leury there when they're prioritizing defense. I think it's a sensible fit, sure
Harry Doyle
6:03
Who will be the Phillies starting outfielders on opening day?
Anthony Franco
6:03
Harper, Vierling and Manuel Margot?
Weitz
6:04
In order to have a competitive season would the Twins be better off spending on RF and SS or pitching, pitching and more pitching? They have a glut of young pitchers that are close.
Anthony Franco
6:04
I don't expect them to spend in the outfield, and there's no one really to spend on at shortstop (unless you're talking Story level, which would be a bit of a surprise)
6:05
So I think the biggest financial investments are coming in pitching, whether that's Rodón or trading for someone like Gray who's on a decent but still team-friendly salary
Wouldn't surprise me if they move one of the outfielders (Kepler, maybe Larnach) as part of that kind of deal
Wiz
6:06
Adley ROY- yes or no
Anthony Franco
6:06
I'd take the field given the number of other options (Rodríguez, Greene, Torkelson) but Adley's as strong a candidate as any, sure
John
6:07
White Sox could use Anthony Santander. Would he bring back a top 5 prospect for the Orioles?
Anthony Franco
6:07
Nah, not after the year he just had. I think it's better to hang onto him until the deadline
Dick Allen is a Hall of Famer
6:07
Wouldn't a team gain an advantage by treating their minor leaguers well?
Anthony Franco
6:07
So, I'm in the minority on this one, but I don't know how much of a competitive advantage that paying minor leaguers more would actually be
6:08
Or more accurately, that it'd be such an advantage that everyone else would immediately copy you and negate it pretty quickly
6:09
That makes for a better overall product, but I think the fear that "if we do it, everyone else will just do it and then everyone else will be mad at us because now they have to spend more money to keep up" is what keeps teams from stepping way up to do that sort of thing
6:10
I'm not advocating for minor leaguers to not be paid better. They should be, obviously. But I think that's more likely to come from some sort of governmental action (legislation or court action) than from a team deciding its in their self-interest to do so
Yankees GM
6:10
Do you each poke fun at each other’s teams behind the scenes of MLBTR, like we do on the boards?
Anthony Franco
6:11
I think the more you analyze stuff from an overhead level, the more team-specific fandom wanes
6:12
So while Tim and Steve probably still follow the Cubs and Twins more closely than other teams, I don't think they really care all that much how they perform anymore
John
6:12
Has this lockout ended any careers?
Anthony Franco
6:13
I think it might. Tim looked at some guys who might be affected by it a couple months ago
6:14
I don't know that anyone has yet retired because of the lockout, but it wouldn't surprise me if there's a player or two who gets lost in the shuffle of the post-lockout frenzy and just walks away
Marcelo Rodrigues - Brasil
6:14
What is Soto's intention in refusing the Nats' contract; in your view?

But money, or another team 3 years from now?
Anthony Franco
6:14
The opportunity to field offers from all 30 teams three years from now
6:15
I don't think it's any sort of shot at the Nationals. He told Enrique Rojas he still envisions himself spending his entire career
Eddie Yost
6:15
What happens first: Orioles have a 100 win season, or the Dodgers have a 100 loss season?
Anthony Franco
6:15
What happens first?

Dodgers lose 100 games (18.4% | 37 votes)

Orioles win 100 games (81.6% | 164 votes)

Total Votes: 201
6:16
I lean Orioles there
John
6:16
If they come to an agreement about draft picks. Will there be any penalties in this year's draft?
Anthony Franco
6:16
Have to imagine the draft pick compensation would take effect next offseason
Jill
6:17
What are some realistic upgrades for Cleveland?
Anthony Franco
6:17
They need outfield help badly. Tommy Pham or Joc Pederson feel like they'll be in the financial ballpark

6:18
What do you anticipate will be more chaotic. The remaining signing and trading frenzy to follow the ending of the lockout. Or the last 24 hrs of the 2022 trade deadline in July?
Anthony Franco
6:18
I think the latter. The post-lockout frenzy will still be spread over a week or two
Teams love to wait until like five minutes before the deadline to make trades
Wiz
6:19
If Manfred was out as commissioner would you take the job. Or who would you want to get it?
Anthony Franco
6:19
Ha, absolutely not
