Anthony Franco

Somebody from outside the organization. I'm not sure of the exact permutation, but I still think there might be something to be had involving Adrian Houser or Eric Lauer and Davis or McNeil
John
3:20
Do players want spring training shortened anyway?
Anthony Franco
3:20
Probably a bit, since they're not paid
3:21
But just logistically, they need at least a month (probably five weeks) to get everyone into the U.S., clear COVID protocols and then build up into game shape
Joe Cool
3:21
Me or them there Rams?
Anthony Franco
3:21
Bengals
Willie Calhoun
3:21
I have had the worst luck in the world staying healthy and inconsistent because of it.  I feel great.  Do you think it’s my year to prove all my hype?  After all, I was the centerpiece in the Yu Darvish trade.
Anthony Franco
3:22
Definitely feels like a "make-or-break" season for Calhoun. Chris Woodward suggested he might've been a non-tender candidate this offseason. They didn't do that (smartly, IMO) but he's probably gone next offseason if he doesn't hit
3:23
I still like Calhoun's combination of bat-to-ball skills and power, but he's walking a fine line as a player who can't defend and never walks
3:24
But yeah, as you said, we've really never gotten to see what he could do with a full year of reps because of all the freak injuries. Cautiously optimistic for 2022
Tiger Fan
3:24
I just read the Tigers are one of the best on-paper fits for Rodon. Any smoke there before the lockout? Or all speculation?
Anthony Franco
3:24
We basically heard nothing definitive linking Rodón to anyone
3:25
I agree he makes sense for the Tigers (as well as like half the league) but I think that's just speculative for now
TheGreatCornholio
3:25
When baseball resumes will there be a flurry of signings or will it be slow?
Anthony Franco
3:25
It'll have to be fast by nature. Teams will have like a week to set their rosters before Spring Training games start
Duffy-2
3:25
I like the Angels as being a surprise. The AL West in general seems pretty wide open…would you agree?
Anthony Franco
3:26
Still think Houston's in a tier of their own. Seattle and the Angels after that, A's in that second tier too if they don't sell as much as most expect them to
Santiago
3:26
Is it possible that the Yankees acquire Olson and Chapman from the A's? How much will they cost?
Anthony Franco
3:26
I can't see Oakland trading both of those guys in the same deal
James
3:27
If you could pick any of the teams in the AL East to be for the next 5-7 years in order, who would it be? Rays, Sox, and Jays seem like they have real promising talent all coming. Not so optimistic about NY
Anthony Franco
3:27
Probably Toronto, but I could see a case for anyone except Baltimore
David
3:28
Hey Anthony….what do you think the Tigers have left to do on their list?
Anthony Franco
3:28
Pitching, mostly. Upgrade over Tyler Alexander in the #5 rotation spot, add a cheap reliever or two
Jesse JJ
3:28
How long do u think the CBA will be? Will MLB expand in that time?
Anthony Franco
3:29
Five years, no expansion that quickly
John
3:29
If the Brewers go after Anthony Rizzo what would a contract look like?
Anthony Franco
3:30
We had Rizzo at 3/45 entering the offseason. Given the lack of rumors on him, the obvious trade availability of Olson and chance the Yankees move Voit, I'd take the under on that now
Like 3/36?
Camilo Doval
3:30
Do I get the 9th inning role beginning Opening Day?
Anthony Franco
3:31
I doubt the Giants do the definitive closer thing, but Duval should be in the mix
3:32
I expect they'll use him, McGee and Rogers in the late innings pretty flexibly though depending on matchups. Those guys are all so different stylistically that it gives the coaching staff the freedom to really attack different hitters based on their respective weaknesses
Tampa boo boo
3:32
Should kiermeyer pack his bags as soon as the lockout lifts?  I suspect a Josh Lowe commitment.
Anthony Franco
3:32
I think he's probably gone, yeah
3:33
Maybe they just trade Margot instead, but at least one goes and I'd guess it's more likely to be Kiermaier, given his salary
Jill
3:33
Can Cleveland be able to extend Jose or Shane?
Anthony Franco
3:34
The long-term books are wide open enough to do so, but it's tough to predict something like this when the organization has never guaranteed a player more than $60MM
Andrew
3:34
With only 60 games in 2020 and now a threat of a shortened season in 2022 - what will this do to the arms of these players long term? You already saw Tajuan Walker lose all stamina last year
Anthony Franco
3:34
I have no idea. I'm sure it'll affect different guys on a case-by-case basis, but it can't be good
Bunkie
3:35
who plays 2nd for the white sox
Anthony Franco
3:35
Jeff McNeil or Tony Kemp?
