The Rangers just go ahead and sign Conforto and Cueto.  Good or bad idea?
Anthony Franco
5:48
I don't think Cueto makes a ton of sense there. He's not going to be the difference between them competing this year or not
5:49
If Conforto's willing to take a three-year deal with no opt-outs or something, I like the Rangers as a fit, sure. Could say that about a lot of teams, but adding another good player to the 2023 roster makes sense and the draft pick forfeiture isn't a big deal after they've already punted two picks for Seager and Semien

Hiura had always been slated as a possible elite contact guy. He has been strike out prone thus far in his career, but is he a bounce-back candidate based on his raw skill set?
Anthony Franco
5:50
I think he got out of whack mechanically. He was such a different player last year than he was at UCI
Is it fixable? I don't know, but I get why they're giving him another crack at it

Who is the Phillies opening day center fielder ?
Anthony Franco
5:50
Looks like it's going to be Vierling
K Newman
5:50
Any word on if I am on the move yet?? Rumors have ben around that I could be available.
Anthony Franco
5:51
Eh, I don't see a whole lot of appeal there
5:52
Andrelton Simmons was available in free agency and signed for $4MM. Newman's making $2MM this year and is probably a worse version of a similarly stylistic player
If the Pirates are moving him, I don't think they're getting anything notable in return

Sell high on Andrew Vaughn (RH 1B not hard to come by) in package to get one of Castillo, Montas, or a top tier starter?  Which fit do you like best if a starter was added to this rotation?
Anthony Franco
5:53
I'd be really reluctant to move Vaughn. Fair point about the demographic but I think he's going to be a special hitter
5:54
Alright we're pushing 90 minutes here so I have to get going
Thanks for all the questions this week. Apologies as always for the stuff I couldn't get to
I'm on Twitter @affranco10 if you want to throw anything at me there
5:55
I also conduct a weekly chat for Front Office subscribers on Friday afternoons
Those are typically at 2:00 pm CST but this week's will probably be at 4:00
5:56
Your chances of getting a question answered are significantly higher since the queue is much more manageable in those
If that's of interest, here's the link to our Front Office memberships

Have a good week everyone! Next time we talk, we'll be on the verge of Opening Day!
